Good evening all.
Where are we going in the USA?
Near Allentown PA. Grandfather is buried there.
Brooklyn NYC.
Albany NY Family live there

Love this scene in Civitavecchia. Rather cold to us, but a hardy couple are oblivious to it.

Japan is/was like that as well. I haven't bought any clothes over here in a while, but probably the same as before. Buying shirts was strange as they tended to be long and lanky. By the time I got a shirt to fit, the arms would go past my fingers. Again, not sure if anything has changed since then.

And a great day to all late lookers on the forum..............

5 pm in west Texas and T shirt weather today as long as your in the sunshine.
34 degrees and clear for high tomorrow but low to mid 60s all next week. Suits me just fine.

On the subject of taxes, I was going to try Turbo-Tax for figuring my 2025 taxes. However Turbo-Tax will only work on Windows 11 this year......no Windows 10 available. So I'll have to find something as good as TT. Any suggestions? I don't have 401k program or stocks if that helps in picking a good tax package.

My train seller in PA got paid yesterday afternoon (by me) for the item I purchased from him, with shipping. One item from e-bay is supposed to arrive tomorrow and I am waiting for shipping info on another loco I purchased on e-bay today. I gotta stop buying this stuff but its hard to say no to a brand new Athearn Genesis, undecorated, 4-6-2, brand new, old stock, for $65.00 plus $8.95 shipping. There was NO tender included but I purchased a new undec Genesis tender at the Plano train show for $20.00 a couple of weeks ago.

I've been watching the loco rescue on YouTube. That "slug" unit is just about ready to go into the drink.
I guess the paper company the railroad serves is getting their materials by truck now. This accident may ultimately result in a lost customer for the RR. I'm guessing that wood trestle will need to be replaced by a new one, but only if the RR can keep that customer. We shall see how all this plays out, after all, "enquiring minds want to know".

Better get busy, "times-a wastin".........John

I was decluttering today and found an old menu from the club I was the chef at. This was 1982 just before I was promoted to the Executive Chef position. We did an Oktoberfest and a German Carnival every year using this same menu. It was a massive buffet and a major pain to prep everything, but the food was fantastic. There was always several hundred members and their families attending. Silicon Valley in the 1980's was a boom town. The original chef (Swiss German) was promoted to F&B director when I was promoted and he micro managed me at every one of these.

If not for the english below it, the Schinken In Brotteig doesn't really sound good haha.

a good tax package
I've been using HR Block for several years. The only issue I found was that if the state doesn't tax military retirement, TT has a box to check during that entry and it doesn't add it in. HR Block doesn't have that and you have to manually subtract it out. That was a shocker as you might have imagined. Easy enough to use if only W-2, 1099DIV, INT, or R.
