I'd sure like to know what interest HK had in these shotguns. Did they help with the design? All of those proof marks are Italian on the lower angle of the receiver. I recognized that immediately when I looked at the listing. A guy that worked for me at a local shooting range bought one of those. It's quite a shoulder-full to fire. Maybe HK made the barrel and the proof marks are on the bottom where they can't be seen without disassembly. ???
It was a joint venture until 1997. HK acted as the importer up to that year.

I don't think any tactical shotgun can beat the pain of shoulder firing a SPAS-12.

Good Morning All. Clear and 46°, back into the mid-70's today. NWS is slowly backing off their forecast of rain Wednesday night; now down to 40% and starting Thursday instead. Temperatures still in the 70's all week.

I am now 74 years and one day old. Still don't feel any older.
Everyone have a good Monday if there is such a thing for those still working.
You are now officially in the 75th year of your life!

25 more and you can just use AI to think about how to drive the trains and they’ll follow your thoughts…

So far, the new phone seems to be working better, or at least faster, tne the old one, in spite of the fact it has a lesser processor and less onboard RAM. My theory is, since the phone isn’t Apple Intelligence compatible, it’s not spending time sending everything to the cloud for processing, it’s doing everything on-device. It also cost half as much as the previous phone.
A large part of Apple intelligence is on-device. That’s one of apples selling points. Especially on newer devices with faster “neural engines”.

Back from 2.25 hours of cutting framing boards. Cut enough for the 7 frames being assembled today for the Wednesday session. Cut enough
to do 2 more frames for Fridays work session. My friend is meticulously accurate in his measurements and rounds off nothing and close enough doesn’t exist in his frame building assembly world. A few months ago after a session at the saw that saw me realize he really wanted precision I made the effort to hit every line he had for cutting. Now he just hands me the cutting sheet. It’s slower and you need to measure each and use a square for the line. But he’d do it and it’s his layout so I follow his requests

Enjoy the day

Good Morning All. Clear and 38°, a bit warmer than the projected low of near freezing. But headed back into the 60's later today with mid-70's the rest of the week. NWS is still holding on to that rain overnight Wednesday. If it happens, it will be the first one since mid-October. The left coast has been hogging all of the rain since then.

Nothing special yesterday, dishwasher, burn trash, and some more firewood cutting. Made turkey pot pie for supper with leftovers last night. Still have some in the freezer for future meals. Cold enough last night to start the first fire of the new year in the wood-burner. I'm already letting it go out. Don't anticipate another one until next Friday night.
An action packed day today starting with Mass this morning, then we'll see what happens after that.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I only ran trains. Rather I moved 9 of 10 trains back into the staging yard after the track cleaning. Rearranged some cars for variety. Now to move on to the next part. After I clean the next 60' or so of main line/passing siding and all of the industry trackage, maybe another 75' more, I can start on the structures. This section of the layout has not had a deep cleaning since before the tornado ripped the roof off the train shed in 2024 and there is still some damaged scenery to fix. There will be ~30 structures to clean and add details to. Maybe touch up some paint here and there. I'll also swap a few vehicles around to give it a fresh look.

Mike - I'm ready for that first train-related purchase for this new year. Got a gift certificate for Christmas and a bank account full of RMD's from last week. I don't need any rolling stock, engines, figures or structures, but I sure can use additional vehicles. Need to restock a few paint colors and I need to check the scenery supplies.
Have a safe trip to volleyball today.
Kevin - Prayers for your wife's recovery.
Karl - Magnetic tool holder or not, you'll still have to chase down those tools when you need them.
Tom O - Wives are stubborn about some things. In our house/car, it's thermostats! Putting the car A/C on 62° doesn't cool it down any quicker.

Only one birthday of note today, mine! It's #74 for me.

Everybody have a great Sunday.
Happy Birthday

He'd have a panic attack if he saw how I cobble stuff together. I measure twice and cut close enough.😁

Is this the same as your loco??

bachmann
Thanks for your interest....

The parts blowup you attached is what I have. However, the piece I need does not even show on parts sheet. It is located on the back side of the motor, it is round with a recess in it to fit the brass motor bearing and sits in the round recess that does show on the right hand die cast chassis piece. You can see a half round pocket in the diecast chassis piece that fits the motor on the flywheel end.......look and you will see a half round area cast where the rear of the motor sits. That half round pocket holds the piece I am missing.
The piece I need does not come with the motor if ordered from Bachmann. Nor is it listed as a separate piece in their parts list on their website.
The only way I can show the piece I need is to disassemble another 2-8-0, but I am not into doing that just now.
Oddly, the loco I am working on is a Western Maryland.

Thanks....John

Mikey - While I love painting figures, I can rarely go for more than an hour at a time, which is why I just paint two or three colors at a time on a half dozen figures at a time.
Willie- What started out 4 months ago as a project to organize some train room space allowed me to consolidate supplies, including my HO people.
I found I had stuck stashes of people in several boxes. I have a stubborn streak that wants to finish up things that kept dragging out as I found more groups of figures that I have acquired over the last 30 years.
I have purchased the remains of several model railroad estate sales, offering XXX dollars for any remaining model railroad items. This usually was scenery materials and included some painted and unpainted figures.
The project became a PITA and I think I have finished painting figures.
A couple years ago, I talked to a guy who used Mop and Glo liquid wax to protect his painted military figures. It seems to brighten and stabilize the flat craft paint colors I prefer to paint with. However, the paint must be completely dry, usually for 24 hours or more. The Mop and Glo appears to be water based and can dilute acrylic paint that is not completely dry.
I will protect the newly painted figures in a couple days and maybe some of the old figures from other sources. It seems to work better than dullcote and does not react with alcohol clouding the finish.
