Good morning folks. Up at a reasonable 0600 this morning instead of lollygagging in bed until 0800 this morning. Temp is 31°F, expecting 38°F.

I need to file a troublesome nut slot on one of my guitars today, and do the laundry I put off earlier in the week. Not much else happening here today.

Stay safe! Servus!

While US oil production has not increased in the last few years (despite drill baby drill); OPEC+ and a few other countries production has increased, hence the law of supply & demand. Among those increasing production are Canada, Iraq, Mexico & China. And despite "sanctions", both Russia and Iran are producing more. EV's have reduced demand in some European countries.
Thanks! I never thought that all that whining and fake new science would benefit me. New science: if I can not prove it, doesn't mean that I am full of sh!t. So they reduced the demand. I should start driving more, just because.

I remember watching the videos of the "scientists" saying that this line in the ice means that man caused a significant increase in carbon during this certain period. 50 years go by and nothing is yet proven. And I find that these folks are receiving grants by the US govt to research this. And then, their grants get threatened and now everything is proven with a lot of crying and cnn.

Anyway, I am doing my part of reducing carbon and that is by not talking. They should do the same. Plants reduce CO2...

Sorry, a bit under the egg-nog influence...

Good morning all!

Happy Friday!

Still a little cold this morning. Currently 19F with an expected high of only 22F. It is supposed to start a gradual warm-up starting
tomorrow thru middle of next week. Lets hope they are correct.

Usual household chores today, nothing new there.

Not much else going on around here. Wife is back to work today after being off yesterday and a half day on Wed. Daughter is off
school still till the 5th. Still hard to believe Christmas and New Years are in the books.

Have a safe day everyone!

Good Morning All. Clear and 50°; going to be sunny and mid-70's today. A 24 hour cold front headed this way around mid-afternoon tomorrow but it should still be shorts/tee shirt weather for another week. NWS is hanging on to that forecast of rain after dark on Wednesday.

Wife is still recovering from the bladder infection, but stopped taking the antibiotics because they were causing nausea and dizziness. She skipped the grocery trek yesterday. I'm staying out of her way.

I hope to get to the downed branches today, that were on my to-do list last weekend.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued to work on the pipe load for the bulkhead flat car. It's taking longer than expected as I am now doing banding. Today I will start doing tie-downs.
I also started to move trains out of the staging yard that I posted the other day. Eight of the ten have moved to other parts of the layout. As a check on my trackwork, I backed a 16 unit w/2 engines intermodal train along 160' of track without any derailments or other issues. All others were moved engine first.

Mike - I'm with you on wearing shorts instead of pants. Same with socks. Not sure if I wore socks once in 2025. I do wear jeans to church, but off they come as soon as I get home. Father John just wants to see me there and adding to the collection basket.
David (Marlin) - It used to really bother my Dad that of his 16 grandchildren, there were only three males that bore the family name. Especially since he had four male children himself! However my son is one and he has had a son himself.
Tom O - You told me before, but I have misplaced the information regarding where you got the fencing from. Could I ask you to oblige me again? Thanks.
Tom - Nice scrap loads.
Louis - I was just reading an article yesterday about Baltimore's declining murder rate. The article contributed it to getting rid of Marilyn Mosby as DA.

Everyone have a fabulous Friday.

Since we have been talking guns lately.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those able to shoot your eye out, but haven't.

It's Troy again. Still sans the Range Model Red Ryder BB Air Rifle with the compass in the stock.

Fortunately I also don't have an Aunt Clara who sends me pink bunny onesies.

Been up since 4:30a

Already spent an hour with Chatty-bot working on characters and plot for the next book. Stopped just before I ran out of "free time" with it. More tomorrow.

I'm now in the beginning of redesigning the paperback covers. I have to do each one twice, for three vendors (Amazon, a distributor, and Lulu press). Lulu is the outlier. I can design for the big River company and it works with the other place. But Lulu requires a bleed on the pages, and has a slightly different weight of paper. So I have two templates I have to use. That means design it once. then finagle the parts to line up in the other template.

Fortunately, the front is designed for the ebook, so it's import that, tweak and center each element. Color inside the template lines stuff.

Went out to Menards (big box hardware and lumber) for my dove candies. That's the only place that stocks each "flavor" by the case. All the other stores buy the multipacks of flavors, and it takes a month or more for them to restock the "Dark" (not really dark, made with milk) with Almonds.

It's laundry day. As well as replace the batteries in the smoke detectors day. I should go do that now while I'm thinking of it.

What is up with diesel? I've seen it as high as $5.99/gallon.
Around here it’s around $3.09 for diesel while gasoline is $2.35-$2.59.

It may depend on where you are and the fact it’s winter. Home heating oil and diesel are basically the same raw stuff. Diesel gets automotive additives and dye added and maybe some extra processing now for sulphur but it’s basically the same stuff. So in some parts of the country it competes with home heating oil, driving up demand. Back when I drive a diesel I noticed diesel hit more expensive in the winter.

We have many of them on the roads of central Maryland.

Losing her certainly couldn't hurt, good riddance!

I doubt anyone in the media or in politics really knows why the murder rate has dropped so quickly. And if they do, they’ll never be honest about it. No politician will ever admit that there are more drugs on the streets than ever before, and that prices are lower than ever.

Baltimore’s murder rate has long been driven by the drug trade, where laws and law enforcement mean little to those involved. Since the 1970s, murder became a common tactic in the business, happening anywhere from distribution to sales and to a lesser extent, collections.

The demand for heroin and cocaine often outstripped the supply, leading dealers to steal from rivals when they ran out. Such thefts rarely ended peacefully, and guns became an essential part of the trade.

With the growing supply of methamphetamine (often called the poor man’s cocaine) and fentanyl (cheaper and 50–100 times stronger than heroin), competition over supply has diminished, if it even occurs at all anymore.

There are still killings over the control of corners, but now there are more drugs than ever and less reason for distributors to clash over supply.

Good afternoon folks, 44 here and drizzling rain. Went to work today, but it was so slow and there was plenty of help, so I left early. Decided to take the Missus to lunch with some errands and we had to go by Church to pick up a check [my wife is the bookkeeper] and discovered family there putting away the Christmas stuff. We wound up taking two g'nieces to Sonic and picking up lunch for the others. Ran one additional errand then came home. Might head out to the train room in a bit.
@troyphoto what scale are the minis in Bolt Action?

I too am interested in the fencing product you are using..

John

Personally it’s by FAR the absolute best in my opinion only of scale fencing I have ever seen. It’s not inexpensive but if you see it up close it is stunning. I have made chain link fencing and it looks like homemade fencing. There is no comparison. If you don’t need the barb wire it is easily clipped off.

Good morning! It is currently 32F/0C. Caught up on sleep and woke up at 8 am. Night before woke up at 3, back to sleep at 6, up at 830. Before that was sleep at 3.

We finally got snow around 2030. Little flurries that lasted about 20 mins and then got washed away. Strange how that works as the temp didn't change much, but I guess enough.

Did HK help with production of that shotgun, or is that only the import mark?
I'm pretty sure it was just the import mark. I have an H&K marked Benelli M1 tactical (without the pistol grip but the shorter barrel and ghost ring sights)

After H&K and Benelli parted ways and Benelli got a new importer, they still sold the M1 for a while, which if it had been a joint development, probably would have been harder. (Just speculation and WAG on my part)
