Did I miss something in a previous post? What happened with the car you had previously found?
Yes, you missed that we got a call that morning telling us that a different salesman sold it the night before. While this one wasn't too much cheaper, the manager took $1600 off the price to make up for that oversight. And this one is a 2024 while the other was a 2023.

Hughie I don't know if any model maker even makes a passenger RS3. It would have an exhaust stack on the short nose end of the engine. You would have to have steam otherwise the passengers would freeze. It would also have a whistle hose connection. 5 whistles are the singles to turn on the steam. Everyone's cold back here. Besides the steam generator the toilet is also in the short nose end. I don't recall every using it. The 20th Century limited coaches use steam to run the air conditioners.

Bowser has em coming!

I've got one ordered in WM

My 5' x 10' HO layout has run out of room for rolling stock. I don't have a lot of rolling stock.

At one corner I have a plastic model of a big boy coming out of a tunnel. Been thinking (thinking gets me into trouble).
I could build a wall shelf and move the big boy to it - also making room for additional rolling stock storage. I could build
a cassette hidden by the tunnel and hinged so it swings against the fascia when not used. It would be long enough for a
train of 5-6 cars. Of course, the tunnel track would be powered via the control panel and interlocks to prevent energizing
when the cassette is stored against the fascia. This would open up operational opportunities.

Thoughts?

Currently 40 F-degrees and sunny.

Just fired up the Kamado. Wife wants chicken
I hope you kept your back warm, you are a good husband.

My hands are still cold, but the pain is back to normal.

Same here.

Not this small. But the helix? the upper level? The Aegis has its own circuit breaker for faults.

Like I said, I'm big on letting blue smoke out, so help is appreciated.
Here's the power system I've got to go with my Power Cab.
I’ll have to check that system out (aegis).

Power blocks are interesting as it sets you up for block detection so you can have things like barriers go up or down or signals etc. I’m just figuring some of that out. But am setting up my track for blocks so I have it ready for “future expansion.” It’s been a while since I set up my text 4x8 due to the house project so I’ve forgotten 75% of what I’d figured out.

Good Morning All!

25F @ 76% overcast. Guessers thought 5F today, well, not a good guess. Overcast and Cabinet Mountains are probably holding the ...um... warm in.

When we went to Spo the other day, also stopped at a little meat market. One of the real ones, 25' of meat in glass cases of which you choose what you want then they cut and wrap. The Roesaurs store here has maybe 10' of case. Anyway, got a slab of beef liver and did that last night. Boy it was tender:

Bacon, Liver and Onions with smashers. It put our lights out.

All I have for today .. except

Got pulled over and the officer walked up to the window and ask me 'Do you know why I pulled you over?" I said, 'That was rude, can't you see I am on the phone?"

I'm up now. It looks like the golf trip to FL Feb 11 is not going forward. To many people dropping out for different reasons. It's lonely here with my wife gone and I was looking forward to stopping in NC to see my girlfriend from 1972. Her husband died years ago, and we have a lot in common. Same faith, same politics. I plan on moving to NC in the future.

Good morning Crew. 23f actual degrees but feels like 10. At least it still feels above 0. High for the day is low 20s but there is the breeze gusting at 17 that will make it feel colder! It’s January in climate challenged Wisconsin so this is a warm spell.

The grandson plays 5 miles away this morning! I’m told we are going. He just played game #60 this season last night. With the State Tournament being hosted by his Hockey Association in March they might hit 80. Way too much for an 11 year old but burn out will be his parents and Youth association’s fault! For supposedly having a “bad” year he has 29 goals and 41 assists. He’s got 8 goals in the last 5 games. I think he’s playing great. He has grown 3” (5’2” total) since September and he still has his speed out there. It’s fun to watch him play.

We should be home by noon and then the day is mine. I need to clear coat a diesel and send off pictures. The next commissioned weathering project by design is 5 diesels due 3/21/2025! I’m truly cutting back…

Enjoy the day

Well, howdy there internet people, and those wishing Swal safe travels on his upcoming trip to North Carolina. I hear there's a pretty girl over that way.

It's Troy again.

Just made a trip to the grocery (Meijer) and the Big Box hardware (Menards). Figured 38 F-degrees in the drizzle now, was better than below freezing in the winter mix later day and tomorrow. Canada seems to want to share their weather with us.

Yesterday was furnace clean and check up day. I pay for the service pack - twice a year inspection, clean and fix minor stuff for parts only. Figured that way I might get warning that something is going wrong. Not sure why, though, but the company has been bouncing the dates back into the year farther and farther. I started with an April and Oct check ups. Current schedule is July and Jan?????? 😒 the dispatcher roll the summer one back to May. Warm enough to get the AC going, early enough to spot problems. We'll do the same to the winter one, when she calls to schedule the "spring" tune up.

Anyway, I stopped at Mendards to get a fresh water pad for the Aprilaire humidifier on the furnace. I get the "fluffy" ones that hold more water, but they don't last a full season. It was good that the tech was out and checked it. We had the pink slime starting on it. So a fresh one was on my to-do list.

Also picked up some Alex caulk (white, unfortunately, they don't stock the grey or brown any longer). Figured if I was going to be stuck inside due to Canadian weather the next few days, I might as well be prepared to start laying track. Oh, and I picked up two thin trim pieces that I can stick the LED strip lights to, and mount under the upper deck. What I did with the 4" puck lights is too bright for that side. I will move the pucks into the drop ceiling for over the upper deck.

At the grocery, Milk was 1.89 for half-a-gallon, Store brand bread was !.99 for half-a-loaf, and ground beef was $6.50 a pound for 85/15. Gas around the shopping area in NE Indiana was 3.19/gal.

that's about it for now. Further updates as the situation changes.

Good Morning Again!

Forgot - If you all remember, I have been trying to get off of Ozempic and had reduced the dose to ~25ml. Doc said that was at or below the minimum and wanted me to monitor my fasting Glucose and as long as I was under 150, she would be good to go. Well, I monitor levels anyway. Long story short, 3 weeks ago I ran out, and ordered more. Ya, got it this Tuesday. Found out when the remnants of the Ozempic went away, body changed. Not as cold as before; I would sit in 65F with 32 Heat and insulated pull-over on and shiver, no dizzyness on the day before the next poke and it did not feel like I had a UTI; kinda hurt 2P, and my weight still hovers between 205 and 210. Glucose has been under 150; usually 120 down, except for once @ 220 of which have no clue about that. I must have eaten something before testing and forgot about it. Doc don't know about any of this .... yet.

Good mornin' y'all. (Do they say "y'all" in Wyoming?)
Here in Nac its 50 this am looking for a high of 58, low tonight 26. No precip today but gonna get much colder and 30-40% chance of frozen stuff Sun-Wed.
Gas was $2.43 yesterday @ Walmart. We subscribe to Walmart+ so we get a .10/g discount. Now that (retired) Nurse Judy doesn't commute any longer we don't drive a whole lot. A tank (14 gals or so) lasts us about 2 weeks. My night vision has gotten worse, so I don't drive at night at all. Although I did manage to renew my TX dl, I don't know if I'll be able to get a dl in Wyoming. I'll be 79 in July and Texas requires folks 79 and older to retest. We're sort of planning on getting rid of our car anyway. We'll be living in town, nice neighborhood between downtown Cheyenne and I80.
Good to see some folks getting some train stuff done. Lookin' good! Might be a while, but eventually we'll get the Pine Flat stuff unpacked and back on the workbench. Might look at building an 18" or 24" wide modular type thing. We'll see..
In the mean time, y'all take care.
