Question gang!
What is considered normal shipping time these days?

Back in the day when I did Fleabay sales, I always shipped items on the next business day. I figured it was the proper thing to do and a small way to honor the sales commitment and show I appreciated the business.
Recently (last Saturday) I purchased an engine on ebay. I figured it would be shipped from S.C. on Monday, Tuesday at the latest and I would have it by this weekend at the latest. Tracking shows the USPS label was not created til Thursday and the package was not physically picked up til today (Friday). Is this the new post covid norm? I'm really disappointed in the state of eBay if it is.
Ebay has changed their seller payment policy, and many sellers will not ship until Ebay releases the funds. That can be up to ten business days. Yes, two weeks. Most of the time if that's the case, you'll see a small "extended handling time" label where it details shipping times. Here's a screen shot of the extended delivery note, under shipping charges:

Good morning all. It is 11.15am, cold and very frosty. Temperature was minus double figures C says the weather guesser. (I did not wake up to check.)

Posting EBay items. We used to have a local Post Office in the village, which was very handy as you could imagine. Like all good things those higher up do not like such 'handy things'. Now the P.O. has closed our most convenient place to post items is in Hexham (a 28 mile round trip.)

If the seller can make only one trip to the post office he should say in his postings - and what day that will be, so the purchaser is aware.

Willie I shall post more pictures of Beamish Museum (when I find them in my large collection of photographs).

Good Morning All!
27F @ 81% slight wind, little mo new white. Supposed to be under 30F at night until Thursday, then in the teens after that. No white guessed.

Well, it looks like things are settling down for the West Coast; except the shaker in SanFran. Don't know the magnitude as I have not turned on the news stream. I think I remember reading that Ca. has somewhere around 50 quakes a day; some felt, some not; probably more of the later.

Spent time yesterday moving a friends web site from the test server to production. Even though I try to test *everything*, always seems I miss stuff. Will finish that this am as I got brain drain yesterday and went and veg'd in front of the boob tube about 1500.

I will get out to the Train Cave later for at least a little while.

You know how many times eBay has changed policies over the years? I don't have enough 'shorts' to keep count. It always seems like seller's are the losers with that.

V/MC - I, like most of you that have been in business, just absorbed the fees. Years ago, I went kicking and screaming into taking them. Geesh, business almost doubled. For those people with the ID 10 T problem that only take cash ... hmmm are we legal and the City,State.Fed knows about you? Wonder if they pay employee's in cash? I will not play unless it is an absolute must.

I don't mean to brag, but cashiers are always checking me out!

Good morning gang!

24° outside currently, looking for a high of 31° later today. We did get a little bit of snow last night so I will be firing up the cub cadet shortly. Later, I have to re-stack the firewood rack in the basement as it is almost empty.

Terry, I did not realize that eBay held funds back that way. Then again I haven’t sold anything on eBay ever since they changed their policy where they wanted direct access to my bank account.

Good morning from So Central Wisconsin. Very similar to yesterday with another 1/4” of snow added to the snowcover! 25f degrees now moving up to 30.

Too much on the plate today so if I get to the trainroom it will be late. Spent the night in Terry’s hospital room sleeping in a recliner. It was good until about 5 this morning. Her procedure went well last night and the doctor says she will be out of here by 9. Do it again on 1/21.

Enjoy the day

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with snows or back muscles.

It's Troy with Sciatica again.

I'd tapered off using the Teeter table, then started again this week when I felt my big toe starting to get numb like it was during the last bout of sciatica. So I ramped the teeter table and the treadmill back up.

But, we're in the gotta ride it out phase. Right now the nerve is just awake in the lower back. Stretches will begin today as well. Wife has been researching Clean Eats, and a friend just pointed her at the Whole 30 system?

I suspect a lot of rice and cauliflower in my future. Now if we could just get the weather to cooperate for some more kamado cooking.

Four inches of snow on our patio. Unfortunately, I didn't get it cleared before the plow service did our community parking lots and drive lanes. So I was pushing the snow another 20 feet across the drive lanes behind our garage. The joy of a walled in complex known as the patio is that we don't have much room for snow piles.

Good mornin' y'all. 24 and hazy this am in Nac. High forecast today 48 low tonight 24 no precipitation forecast for the next several days. Other than being a tad chilly, looks like some nice weather in store for East Texas for the next several days.
Nurse Judy worked her last part-time shift New Years Eve, so she's officially retired. She worked Fri-Sat-Sun 10pm-6am for the last 2 years, which meant she slept all day Sat-Sun-Mon. She's off to the local Farmers Market with Daughter #1 this morning. A bit too early and too cold for me...
Still sorting some stuff for the move. Daughter #1 taking most of our furniture and kitchen stuff. She'll be around later today to pick up a load. She's a nurse but doesn't tend patients anymore. She's a corporate quality assurance person and deals mostly with regulatory and paper work issues. She's usually on the road during the week.
SFA housing opening this weekend, registration and classes begin next week. Instant population growth of several thousand young folks. Can't complain too much - that's how I got here and Nacogdoches wouldn't be much without the University.
Y'all have a good day - stay safe, stay warm, be cool...

Good Morning All. Clear and cold. I am showing 18°, while the Weather Underground station around the corner is showing 23°. He has been wrong before!!! Alexa shows 13° in the city 12 miles SE of here. Lots of snow still around, but the high for today has been revised upwards to 52°, so that will end that. Relatively nice weather until next Sunday when chilly returns. The snowstorm[?] yesterday morning was so minimal that it didn't add anything to the overall depth, which shrank as the day wore on. Sunshine late yesterday and today is very welcome.

Mostly household duties yesterday for me. Laundry, dishwasher, spare room clean-up and that 30 yard trek to the dumpster and back in the snow, TWICE. Brought in a few armloads of firewood along the way. Wife is getting bored; she has cooked supper three nights in a row now, and plans to do it again tonight. I didn't ask what she was making, but she had a Chuck Roast out thawing all day yesterday. That probably means stew, since we had Chili last week.

At almost all places that I purchase stuff from, there is no additional charge for using a CC. But as retailers have told me, the cash payers end up paying the CC fee since it's included in all pricing. Before he retired, the owner of my LHS would throw in a bottle of paint or glue for free since he knew that I always paid him cash.

I did trek out to the train shed yesterday, checking on the beer fridge out there. The little space heaters are keeping the place about 58°, not ideal but OK. I have a short-sleeved sweatshirt out there to wear if necessary. Electric service to the shed is 10 gauge wire, so I could probably install a bigger heating system, but never chose to. We just don't get enough real cold days to justify it. But painting is not easy at that temperature, so I just continued cleaning a couple more buildings. I halted when I got to a section that has lighting installed, and I will pick back up in a few days. Need more warmth for the nimble fingerwork needed to disconnect. Meanwhile I opened up one of the Walther's kits that I received from a grandkid at Christmas. It is a detail kit of various trash cans. There's two sprues like this.

Cut, cleaned and glued to get this.

I had decided to model one with an open top to have oversize debris sticking out, but it doesn't stand upright by itself. It will have to be glued permanently on the layout. Already have homes for all of these and I will start the second sprue next.

Len - I know what you mean about the SFA students. Locally we have both UNT and TWU to contend with.
Westexjohn - Thank you for the correction regarding the car. My memory from those days has faded a bit. I'll send you a PM regarding the show.
John (Indiana) - Good to see you post. Hope that everything works out.
Patrick -
So I guess I'm still not 100%, but would I ever be?
Short answer: Nope!
Tom O - About the only "cash only" eateries around here are the many taco wagons and other mobile food vendors. BBQ wagons are numerous also. Continued best wishes for Terry.
Louis - Great update on Angela.

Sam Moore, of the soul duo Sam & Dave died yesterday at 89.

Everyone have a super Saturday.

They ejected Terry from the hospital 30 minutes earlier than the doctor’s prediction and we are home. A 7 minute drive home. Nothing hot or cold for Terry to eat or drink until 6pm. The numbness to the cheek should be gone by 3. She hates medium warm or cold coffee but will obey the Doctor’s orders. Food will be lukewarm so knowing her she won’t eat. She does not enjoy sandwiches! Reception here at home was unexpected. Daughter, grandkids and SIL, her friend and my Endocrinologist, her best friend from childhood from Racine, a couple of the daughter’s neighbors we know well and one of our neighbors. I had made arrangements for one of the college twins to be here while I went to the G/S hockey game this morning and a comedy show tonight. I guess doing that helped them plan the reception party. The friend from Racine I guess is here till Monday weather permitting. The college twin the daughter paid anyway and she’s headed back to campus after grabbing breakfast

Terry seems to be fading but in great spirits I have not seen since T-Giving. The 5 remaining ladies have her surrounded at the kitchen table. Good to see the smiles

Tom

Our food wagons all seem to take credit cards.

One of the cash places is an old fashioned diner. Still set in the early 60’s the original now in their 80’s owners still are working it. Best prices and portion sizes in town. None of their family wanted it so they gave the business and property to their cook of the past 30 years last week, he just turned 47. He told us last week the only menu changes he plans is changing the prices of anything with eggs. At Thanksgiving they were paying $1.00 for a dozen extra large eggs, last week it was $3.00 per dozen. Also, next week they will close for 10 days as the bathrooms will be torn out and redone. Also the kitchen prep sinks and tables will be re-done. That probably should have been done in the 80’s when I 1st found this place. Seems the inspectors were closing their eyes when they came in all these past years. Turns out there are 3 apartments upstairs and the cook now owner was living rent free for the last 20 years. He’s staying up there as he said no reason to change!

Many of the bars in the more older section of Madison are cash only

Speaking of cash only, our gov't run liquor stores and cannabis stores detected a hit on their computer systems, so they shut the system down, and now they are cash only, and the liquor stores were closed for two days this week. Hopefully they get the system running again, but it sure hurts a lot of people when they go to get their fill and find out it's cash only, lol. Cash only for cannabis, it's almost like the old days.

Shipping of late is atrocious. Between the individual vendors taking additional time in preparing the order to the USPS bouncing from one location to another instead of moving in the most direct routing....(UPS and FedEx are also culpable when involved). I don't know if it's because they are overwhelmed by orders, or just cutting costs further, it's certainly not better.

Hello again gang!

Flo, can I get a cheese steak sub for lunch, raw onions, green peppers and mushrooms please! Oh yes, with fries and a diet Dew please!

Snow plowing and shoveling is done, and the basement wood rack has been restocked. Currently the fire is banked back and it's 78.6° down here at the puter desk. The heat pump hasn't been running for quite some time now.:)

TomO, glad to hear Terry is home and surrounded by friends! That's the best medicine!

I will be taking a nap today. Son#4 is flying back from Costa Rica today, landing at Dulles around 10 p.m.. We will leave here around 8, and should be home near midnight.

Speaking of cash only, our gov't run liquor stores and cannabis stores detected a hit on their computer systems, so they shut the system down, and now they are cash only, and the liquor stores were closed for two days this week. Cash for Cannabis, that's how I remember it too! ;)😁
