I should have this artwork done today. I ordered 100 sheets of 8.5 X 14 glossy photo paper from Stapes for $35.00 which I'm going to use for other railroad art projects. I didn't use any fancy art program to get the job done. I just used the paint program that comes with Windows. I wanted to lash up 3 Conrail locos, but it would be too long. Just two engines 5 inches high and 22 inch long = 44 inches and being I'm making the frame 3 engines would just be too long for the framework. So I loaded one of the locos into the paint program and made a reverse of it changed the numbers and lettering then coupled them together. I see the paper in being delivered today so I have to go downstairs and get to work on the picture frame.
Some years ago, I did a drawing of a steam engine on a cold moonlit night that I will also be making into some wall art
that should also get done today.

Good Morning All. Clear and 21° out there this morning. They're still predicting Snowmageddon tomorrow, although they have backed off the snow amount to 5.5"; down from 8".

I can't stay for long this morning, as the dermatologist appointment is really early and we have to tack on the weekly grocery trek since the weather might not cooperate tomorrow. Plus we haven't truly discussed what's on the grocery list yet! Just in case, I already have a 2-day supply of dry firewood stacked on the protected porch next to the door.

Gotta go now, everyone have a great Wednesday.

Mornin' y'all. Nacogdoches 25 and clear, high today 44, possibility of some frozen precipitation Thu & Fri. Cardiologist today for reports on stress test, scans, echo ekg, etc. No bad news, mostly "age related" stuff... Went to Lufkin yesterday with Nurse Judy (the wife...) for her cardiologist visit, late lunch @ Golden Corral (senior buffet) stopped by EyeMart to get new glasses adjusted.
Some history - I started out with a small n scale bookshelf thing back in the early 70's. Divorce ended that. Second wife was considerably more tolerant and we had a bit more space available. Atlas HO train set and a 4x8 sheet of plywood. Daughter #1 (1980) and #2 (1984) put all things frivolous on hold for next 20 years... Hadn't given much thought to model railroading until I ran across Lance Mindheim and his shelf switching layouts - why didn't I think of that? A trip to the Big Blue Box and a couple of orders from Model Train Stuff and we were back in business. Since then, the three iterations of the Texas South East and Neches River Lumber Co have come and gone and all the Pine Flat stuff is packed up for the move to Cheyenne. Probably looking at a couple of months to get workbench set up and stuff unpacked. So in the meantime, y'all get to listen to me whine and carp about not having any model railroad stuff to occupy me...
Y'all have a good day and stay safe.

Well whining is an accepted past time here! Welcome from me to you to the forum. I’m a shelf layout modeler and was already into a shelf layout (didn’t call it that though) when I found Lance Mindheim. If you don’t have all his books, I highly recommend them.

Good morning all.

Another chilly Northern Illinois day today. Currently 14F going up to around 25F/. Looks like this cool pattern is going to leave the area starting tomorrow and get back to January averages.

Daughter starts volleyball games tonight. We of course have to travel. Not so bad this week but the further schools will start next week. Some of them are over an hour away. As I have said before, we get the shaft every year on the schedule it seems.

Other than some light errands and some domestic duties, not much else going on here.

Have a safe day everyone!

hey folks!

iam back! well kind of. back at work and the airprot as always busy as hell. winter season!
over the past days i was a lil bit in my train room but had severall projects going.

and i still have something on a shelf sitting and waiting to get used, but, i dont have the layout for. so just one short question for you american specialists. i have a Minitrix Turntable (art.nr. 66570), they write locos with a max length of 13cm (sry i know iam from switzerland) are working.

do you think this would also fit for US Diesels?
because, maybe, just maybe i would like to build a module with this tunrtable, like a diesel workshop and stuff on it?

wish you all a good day. and soon there will be another update from my layout ;)

cheers
jay
