Good morning...Not sure what the weatherman is thinking, saying it'll be warmer with highs in the 28-30 degrees but a "breezy" day with gust up to 30mph. Well with 6" of light fluffy snow on the ground that's going to blow all over. Same forecast for Sunday but we add 2" of new snow. The best part Monday 40 mph winds with 50-60 mph gust. All they say there might be some power outages. The last I knew those are blizzard like conditions. They are treating it as if we didn't have any snow on the ground.

Pleasant Saturday morning to all! 30 and clear in Nac this morning w/c 30 - high for today 59 low for tonight 30 - no precipitation in the forecast until next week. Movers requested to come tomorrow instead of Monday and yes we are ready for them. Still got a few odds and ends to take care of here, utilities shut off and final round of clean up. Probably be on our way Tue or Wed.
Bob - Sorry to hear about Hammy. We lost our Big Orange James last year. He was 20 years old and had debilitating arthritis in his hind quarters. Not being able to get around led to more problems and, as sad it was, we had to have him euthanized. Although we were sad, we also felt a great sense of relief from not having to watch him suffer. We still have Phelix, a 4 year old furry black & silver Maine Coon (unregistered), probably the laziest cat I ever seen, but has developed quite a personality. And, yes, he's moving with us. We've given him several test rides in the kitty carrier and he's done well. James was absolutely terrified of the carrier. With Phelix, we put some treats in it and he just walks right in and flops.
I know we missed yesterday and probably miss a day or two with the move, but we'll be back.
Y'all have a good day and take care.

Since Elkhart has a major yard, I'd guess the yard crew from there.
That area also had a Bayer Aspirin factory (South Bend/Mishawaka IN), so powdered chemicals were in high demand in the area. I can see the potential for a lot of rail or truck traffic in the two cities.
My crew. WJLI-26 used to switch Merck's plant at North Rahway...Tank cars of caustic reagents. Covered hoppers of soda ash to neutralize the spent reagents. The Arsenic came by truck... Bristol, Meyers, Squibb loaded out 100 53 gondolas of dirt laced with Arsenic when they were cleaning their Arlington, NJ plant, (Former LV-Rahway Valley access).
Frequently, these components method of shipping was determined by the shipper, and not the Consignee.

Good Morning All. Clear and 37°, headed up into the low-mid 60's today. Warm spell is going to be short-lived as another one-day Norther comes through around midnight and brings clouds and lower temps tomorrow. Then back to the upper-50's/lower-60's for a while. Time to break out the shorts again.

My damn lumberjacks failed to show yesterday, and didn't return my text to an unmanned phone. Not happy. But it is sometimes expected with this crew, that I along with three other neighbors use for this and other general labor. I'll have to hear the excuse before I kick them out.

I hadn't posted it yet, but I am near the end of a seven-day dermatological treatment on my face, rubbing a combination of creams on the exposed parts of my face. Don't ask what it is called! Skin is itching and turning ruddy-red. Not a real problem, but I am not allowed to hang out in the sunshine while doing this cream thing. Today is day #6 so the end is near...not officially over until the return visit to the dermatologist on Monday, who will apply something different to stop the reaction. Damn shame because the weather is nice, ground is dry and I have some pent-up energy left over from the snowstorm.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I did start my next "major" project. This is the "Install all ground throws" project that I described a couple of weeks ago. Nothing monumental to report yet. I laid all of the throws near their respective switches and modified the throw bars on some of those that I didn't do when installing the trackwork. There's 36 total and I did 5 so far. Of course once some are completed, they need to be tested by running a few trains over them. That took more time than the installation.

Tom O -
lose more weight, keep watching your diet and exercise more
Seems like I've heard that several times.
David -
I'll say no more. I may get political.
Since we don't know too many of your politicians or situations, most of us on this side of the pond wouldn't even realize that you were getting political.;)
Karl -
I’ll be in Baltimore today
Sorry to read that! Stay safe.

Everyone have a safe and warm Saturday.

On the car racing.. I'm still a casual NASCAR, Indy car and F1 fan, but never been to a big race. In the 80s and 90s was a big World of Outlaws sprint car fan. When we lived in Tyler we were regulars at Devil's Bowl in Mesquite and Boothill in Shreveport. Almost all the old local tracks are gone.

Good morning from unseasonably warm So. Central Wisconsin. Terry had the tv on this morning when I woke and the weather lady says we have received offically this season 5.20” of snow. Our snow cover officially is 1.88” with many spots bare. Currently 18f degrees heading to 36

Enjoy your day

It's 27° currently, off a low of 7° this morning. Going to 34° today with sun. The next three days will have highs in the 40s, then back to the low 30s. Media types were hysterically hyping "Above Normal" 50's in two weeks. No matter what the weather, it's a crisis!

Big Football weekend....Redskins vs. Eagles in the NFC ---and who ever KC is going to beat in the AFC.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those still trying to figure out what to do today.

It's Troy again

Wife has me on a diet. She's trying to partially adopt a Whole-30 plan. She's been having problems with gut issues (Irritable Bowel and others) And she's trying to drag me along too.

Cutting out sugar was my primary task. Not all of it. Just the extras. Pop tarts, cookies, most candy. I still do my Dove Dark Chocolates with almonds. And I do my Mio Flavor in the water, but she made me not use any of the flavors with Red Dye #40 in them. Guess how many are left that are not Lemonade? (I hate lemonade).

One. Orange-tangerine. The red dyes in our food are nasty stuff, so I'm trying to avoid them. If it gets warmer, I'll start going for Iced Tea again, with a little monkfruit sweetener.

Lunch today will be 5-Guys burgers. Then pizza on the grill for dinner. Wife makes enough dough for two crusts, then we freeze one dough ball until it's time again. Supposed to have a high near 40 F-degrees today! That's grilling weather!

And in other news: I got the camera and the big lights out to photograph my little toy soldier armies. Time to sell some off to get some train money.

Here's the first... bunch of American GIs from WW2. Mostly painted. Vehicles need to be finished, but I'm out of energy for painting these guys.

Vollmer Center, it is part of the Clyborn Arboretum
It is a beautiful place! Once you are there you won't know you are in the city. It is a fitting place to honor your brother-in-law.

If you see a sign saying, "no shoot zone", don't believe it. If you take the beltway to 83 south and get off at Northern Parkway west to Greenspring Ave south you will avoid the "no shoot zones".

Willie. The politicians here say one thing to get into power; then do the absolute opposite, and I mean the absolute opposite.

Even most of those who voted for this present crowd in power are shocked at what has happened.

(Get off the soapbox, David.)

Yea! I know I complain now, but will probably miss them when there over!

Problem is we are done with our first game, and now have 2 1/2-3 hours of downtime with little to do. School bleachers are not comfortable to sit around on all day!

Oh you will miss them ---------

The Last Time

From the moment you hold your baby in your arms,
you will never be the same.
You might long for the person you were before,
When you have freedom and time,
And nothing in particular to worry about.

You will know tiredness like you never knew it before,
And days will run into days that are exactly the same,
Full of feeding and burping,
Nappy changes and crying,
Whining and fighting,

Naps or a lack of naps,
It might seem like a never-ending cycle.
But don’t forget …
There is a last time for everything.

There will come a time when you will feed
your baby for the very last time.
They will fall asleep on you after a long day
And it will be the last time you ever hold your sleeping child.

One day you will carry them on your hip then set them down,
And never pick them up that way again.
You will scrub their hair in the bath one night
And from that day on they will want to bathe alone.

They will hold your hand to cross the road,
Then never reach for it again.
They will creep into your room at midnight for cuddles,
And it will be the last night you ever wake to this.
One afternoon you will sing “the wheels on the bus”
and do all the actions,
Then never sing them that song again.

They will kiss you goodbye at the school gate,
The next day they will ask to walk to the gate alone.
You will read a final bedtime story and wipe your last dirty face.
They will run to you with arms raised for the very last time.

The thing is, you won’t even know it’s the last time
Until there are no more times.
And even then, it will take you a while to realise.
So while you are living in these times,
remember there are only so many of them
and when they are gone, your heart will yearn for just one more day of them.....

One Last Time …....................
