Good morning from So. Central Wisconsin where the polar vortexing has begun! It was an actual +1f degrees and 0 real feel at 4:30am. At 7am it is -2f actual temperature with the real feel at -9. Or has it? High later today will be +7 with real feelings of -11. Sorry but those while cold are not vortex temperatures. Nor are they dangerously cold to us Midwestern and Northern states dwellers. More hype

Yesterday, 2 of our former employees came over to say good bye. After 30+ years living in Wisconsin and Naturilized citizens they have decided to immigrate to Mexico. They have 2 nephews that came here 5 years ago but never renewed their work visas (never worked for us) and probably are on the 1st list in Chicago to be deported. So they are going back. Our 1st 2 employees as part of the property management company they have saved and invested very well. Hopefully they will live very well but are concerned if the Social Security will actually send them the money monthly. They have been thinking about this since the last Presidential campaign cycle began. The 2 of them and the 2 nephews who came up from Chicago 2 weeks ago are leaving today. They have a couple pickups with large trailers to haul stuff back. Terry and I will miss them…

I watched a part of the AFC game yesterday. I am not a conspiracy follower but damn some of those referee calls seemed funny against Houston. I did not watch even 1 play of Lions/Washington. Good for Washington though.

Because the world via a polar vortex was ending today, 2 of the grandson’s hockey games today at home were cancelled. I have not checked the local school district website to see if classes for Monday were cancelled.

TROY, the convention at Novi is supposed to be the first of the new and improved more affordable version of the NMRA. I understand the last few were super expensive for attendees, exhibitors and the shows not the best attended. So they are getting away from big city expensive convention centers. Have fun! I thought of going but a 5 hour drive is too far for a day trip (2.5 hour max) and the last time we overnighted (16 months) near Ann Arbor/Detroit the car was stolen!

THOUGHTS! I believe Inauguration Day should be a federal holiday to celebrate. I also feel the presidential Election Day should be a federal holiday. Doesn’t matter who you voted for but those 2 days are symbols of our democracy and should be days to celebrate. All non-esstential workers should have off! Finding a definition of a essential worker though would be a great debate and a fun event for the media

TIXTOX—I’ve never been on it but I believe in freedom of speech and so what if the Chinese own it. The 5 replacement APPS that supposedly people will be changing to are also Chinese. Facebook/Meta/Safari/Microsoft, etc… probably has done more damage to our national security than TixTox

The new fun 4 years begin tomorrow, enjoy if you can

Good mornin' crew! Coffee's on! Its 27 and clear in Nac this am, w/c 16, high for the day 47, low tonight 20, no precip in the forecast until tomorrow. Gonna be cold and frozen/wet through Tuesday, warming a tad later in the week. Daughter #2 sez its -7 in Cheyenne. brrrr...
Mahomes, Kelce & Co. just a bit too much for the Texans. Three-peat?
Just about everything is set for the move to Cheyenne. Down to labeling boxes and stacking them for the movers. Spending some time this week saying our goodbyes to family & friends. I don't have much family; brother in Galveston and another in Florida, but Nurse Judy has big family here. Two sisters and brother, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. All good folks; we'll miss them.
Y'all have a good day, take care.

Good Morning All!
23F @ 73% overcast.

Looks like the polar chill is going to miss us as it is going down East of the Divide. Some is spilling over into Kalispell and Missoula; probably via Glacier/Marias Pass - will find out from Dau in Missoula later today how it is going. Keep Warm!

I actually played in the Train Cave for 3 hours yesterday. Found that I wasn't putting the risers for the helix in the correct places and there was no way to access them from underneath to 'screw them in' because of the benchwork placement. Sanded all my previous scratching off on the base top, and starting new. Hope to get the table base of it done today / tomorrow, in place and level. Yes, pix as I deem them good information.

Good Morning all a cold 12° in the Ozark Foothills. Last night I finally did it I got a Sketch plan of a Switching layout in my little man cave room. I had some scrap foam board and some new Bachman easy track the wife got me last year from Hobby Lobby which is about 15 minutes from the house. I started a thread on it the name of it is “Turkey Branch Junction” Turkey Branch is the place where my dad was born in 1937 and raised in the remote country not for from where I live. I think I’m going with the New Haven Railroad. Stay warm today talk to you guys later.

Good Morning All. Clear and 19°, cold out there this morning. Should reach 33° around noon for a couple of hours and then repeat until Wednesday. Something happened to the faucet drip overnight and my cold water is frozen under the house somewhere, got hot at all faucets though. Minor inconvenience for right now. I'll be able to dial back the water heater to 103° when showers are needed. This didn't happen during the last cold snap. The NW wind was more ferocious last night.

Train show in Plano yesterday was good. It was not nearly as crowded as ones that I have attended in the past. There were more vendors but less exhibition layouts. I did get the opportunity to meet up with Westexjohn again and we had a good conversation before going our separate ways to explore the place. I then went to only one club layout afterwards. Too many were either only open on Sunday or were over in Ft Worth. I see this morning that I took 74 pictures which I will have to sort through.

Tom (Cambria) - I agree that the axle replacement video was very interesting.
Terry - Wow! Getting up at 10:00 just isn't like you. Get well soon.
Hughie - No snow shovel here either. I just don't go anywhere and there are no sidewalks!
David - You're spending entirely too much time at that hospital. Good luck with whatever ails you.

I never used TikTok, so I cannot comment on it. But I do believe in free speech.

Two musical personalities have birthdays today, the late Janis Joplin and the still alive & kicking Dolly Parton. She's 79.

Everyone have a great Sunday. I'm running late for church so I have to go now.

So what's going on with the NH TT I model it because it runs near my house, and I worked on the line at different times.

More tea and something from the cake trolley please.

Just found these on ebay:

Has someone revived the old Athearn Hustler tooling and a couple of others?!?

The center loco is similar to a Hustler, yet different. The steamer looks like an old Life-like reincarnation. The top one could be an old Plymouth. For that price, I doubt they are powered.

That looks like the old Bachmann MDT switcher and the old Model Power 0-4-0 tank switcher. The third one looks an old Yugo offering. Since they don't post to the US, we'll never know.

Good afternoon all!

Getting a late start this morning due an early morning volleyball tournament this morning, so just now hopping on.

Very cold Northern Illinois day today. The current temp is only 3F at 1PM. They say 9F is the high, but I have my doubts it will get much past 5F. The real feel is -17F with a stiff NW wind. They already have the wind-chill alerts up and the schools have sent out the be prepared if we do call school. No way anything will get accomplishes outdoors the next several days. Looks like we might get back to seasonal temps the end of the week.

Time to do some household chores, and maybe run some trains later if the feeling to even do that is there.

Stay warm and safe everyone!

Well, howdy there interet people, and those under the weather, and those suffering from the weather

It's Troy again

Spent about three hours "playing" with RailModeller Pro.... Some things are intuitive. But the how to vids are terrible. They move too fast, have no commentary, and it's tough tell what they've clicked on wait, where? Which menu was that?

I only did this to try to tackle the yard area. That's been the hang up on working on the "North" side of the layout. (Left wing of it).
Troy's Layout 2025.jpg

Green is mainline
Red is Arrival Departure track
Orange is Run around
Purple is engine staging
There is a yard lead in between the Red and Purple, I forgot to color code it.
The Blue track is elevated to the Logging area.

I am not thrilled with this layout, but I needed to see it with appropriate spacing, length

My thought is to push it "up" towards the back wall, and curve it into the corner towards the back drop. That will give the the back end of that wing for scenery. I want to have a logging operation up near the background, and into the curve along the front of that wing.

Moving the yard would give me room for another town in beneath the slope of the logging area.

First, did I screw anything up on the basic design of the yard?
Second, thoughts on improving the layout on that side. (The right hand side is not complete at all. I just put in the mainline loops.

So what's going on with the NH TT
Okay, so I saw TT, and for some unknown reason Tom Terrific popped into my head. I then went off down a rabbit hole looking for Tom. I found quite a few sites, but I need to share this one with you folks. Click on when you have time. It is a walk down memory lane, TV, Movies and music.

STAY SAFE
