Troy - I read a report that Ms Swift has helped the TV ratings at the games that she attends. So I assume that the NFL will continue to find her a seat in someone's luxury box for the Super Bowl as well. Do you reckon if she breaks up with that guy that she will still go to football games???
If she does break up with him, she will have plenty of material for her newest song!

OK, A few pictures...

These are of the AHM switcher I've been working on. Note the degradation of the detail on the front. I know I caused that when I tried to remove the original paint from the unit. The base I painted thinking of a bit of rust. The base runs very well after I repaired it. I even replaced the old hook horn couplers with modified coupler boxes and Kadee #5s. Not sure now what to do about the shell.

I did some more ballasting and then decided to work on a couple of boxcars...Both are Athearn units.

The red one was a simple cleaning with an artists brush. The brown one was a little more involved.

Cleaned it with the artists brush (mostly dust), took apart the trucks and replaced the wheels with metal ones, removed the flashing from the parts and new couplers. I need to get some more of those coupler box covers, as I have a couple of units without them. I think they are still available. Unit rolls a lot smoother with metal wheels than the plastic ones.

I was checking on another Athearn unit I have and noticed it has real springs in the trucks. So I'll have to be careful when working with that one.

Like student loans!
Precisely!!! That fumes me every time i read about that proposal!

I paid mine off myself. My wife still had one when we got married, and that was the first thing we attacked. We lived without any extras for the first 6 months of marriage and knocked that out in short order.

My tax dollars shouldn't pay off someone else's dumb decisions! If we can do it, so can everyone else!

Not for nothing but when I enlisted in the Marine Corps, and you arrived at Parish Island you were given two 5 gallon buckets to wash your clothes in. You were expected to take care of yourself. Not babied. In the new USA if you have a drug problem that's different, you're no longer responsible for anything you do.

Morning folks

At least sort of for here. Another day in Montana's JanuMarch with temps probably getting to the low 50's and the grass is rapidly re-emerging on the south lawn.

Photos of the day from 1980 at Snoqualmie of Little River 126/Skookum/Deep River No 7. Not often one gets to see the "guts" of these.

Troy I don't know what Celtic Goddess duties are, but she is a good looker.
Swal
That's the heroine of the story... Not the goddess

The celtic goddess has three depictions in Myth...
The Flower Bride
The Regal Queen
The old Crone...

But the Old Crone is also depicted as "Lady Death" she's the one who trains the champion of the goddess. Sometimes by herself, or, sometimes appointing a mentor to the hero.

So this goddess has three disciples:
Seren
Gwen
and Maria...

This story is serious enough that she didn't just get a hero... she got Maria, who was already trained. The non-goddess teacher who taught Maria, also taught Emlyn

Maria is a vampire, Emlyn is still human. Yep, the celtic goddess chose a vamp as her disciple. Once she knew what she faced, she gambled on a real "lady death"

In book 8, which I have to go write, only Lady Death (Maria) is left out of the three disciples of the goddess. And Maria is about to go to hell to make sure the usurper doesn't win...

Yeah. Eight books. I really need to write that last one and finish off the cycle. The books end two centuries later, when Vikings come back to England a few months after they invaded Lindisfarne. Emlyn meets them on the beach. With a new disciple of the goddess. Just in case he can't handle them. ;)

And an update on the ex-hubby of my wife's niece.

He has two brothers that are both on disability. The one with the good mental capacity was on the phone with the victim... heard OMG! and a lot of crashing/thudding.

Single car accident. Victim was ejected. His seatbelt was not in use. DOA at the scene...

No one is sure what is going to happen with the two surviving brothers. Wife's great-niece is the only surviving relative of theirs. And she's in her early 20s, with a baby of her own. How she's going to care for two additional adult dependents is a huge question.

We're not in the picture, and watching from the bleachers. So not sure what is is coming on that front.

Afternoon All,

Started out the day with a walk at 47F. Last night was restless but not because of the teeth which were pretty much pain free. Today I finished "planting" the tavern and diner. Tomorrow, we have a skunk rescue to do but it's only about 30 minutes away.

Thank you for the kind comments yesterday.

Alan- Nice haul. The drill/pin vise set looks interesting. Best wishes on your travels.

Tom- 60 cars is quite the accomplishment.

Willie- That looks delicious. Nice detailing on the grocery.

Smudge- Nice video.

Bill- Nice photos.

David- Nice layout shot. Enjoy your grandkids. The years fly by.

Karl- I feel the same about birthdays.

Troy- Good luck with what you are attempting.

TomO- My Dad lost a huge sum to scammers years ago and I think it led to my parents bankruptcy.

Sherrel- Thank you for your well wishes but I'm more concerned about you.

Patrick- Interesting switcher project.

Grizzled- Interesting photos.

Joe- I hope you continue to improve.

Here are the 2 builds "planted" on the layout.

Lessons for everyone.
1) Don't drive without seatbelt.
2) Don't drive and talk on the phone.

Truly sorry to read of the misfortunes of everyone involved.

The 'long day' has come to the end. I am worn out.
Julia got a special badge at Brownies. She did say what for, but I did not understand. Rushing to the car and driving in an absolute downpour, did not help me to understand. I did congratulate her though. 'Mama has to sew the badge on her uniform,' says Julia.

Time to closedown (11.15pm) Got to catch up on some sleep. An early start in the morning again.

Good evening from a dry Wisconsin where the snow cover is melting away as one looks at it.

The daughter and Terry headed off to 2 banks and a Credit Union this morning. The Credit Union as expected were super easy to work with and basically told her “we got you, don’t worry.” Then proceeded to inform them how to handle the banks if they gave her push back. Terry said they went into bank #1 and 45 minutes later basically had things handled. The next bank not so much. The daughter has had an account at this bank but not this location since high school and her 1st job.

Basically was told it was her fault money was withdrawn and how could they know it wasn’t her…

Terry said it then became a discussion circlling all back to the daughter. When asked what the bank can or will do to help her, they said there is nothing they could do. Per instructions from the Credit Union they asked to see the manager and were given an appointment for next week. Daughter is pissed per Terry but followed the CU advice and went to the tellers window to cancel all accounts that were left untouched and to pay off the 1 loan we ask the kids to always keep, the house mortgage. That got the loan department manager’s attention. Then the manager showed up who Kait basically told him to go away as you can’t see me until next week! Terry said if it wasn’t so serious it would have been comical.

At bank 2 she finally got them, after 2 hours to freeze the open accounts she was unable to close. Handed them the police report and said she will give them a week to help her out and then she goes to a local TV station. One of her former college roommates is the director of programming at the station.

The hackers got access to Kait’s credit card, her CD’s, Money Market accounts and IRA’s at the banks but not anything but her debit card at the Credit Union.

She went to our local police on Saturday and they took the report. This morning she went back with all the info (acct # and how much was taken) they wanted and they filed the report. The last Apple Pay transaction she made was Tuesday at Target. She has made no other transactions since then.

My suggestion but never followed by the daughter. DO NOT keep ALL your financial information on your smart phone. Get rid of Apple Pay and any other app you can use the wallet on the phone to pay things with. Do not tie your PayPal, Venmo or any other app you pay with to your bank accounts. If you must use those payment apps ( I use PayPal) tie it to the credit card, not the bank checking account.

Tom it's funny you mentioned 2 banks and a Credit Union. I learned something today after dropping off the last 5 years of 2 different bank statements at the lawyer's office. The lawyers have to go over all the transaction page by page of the 500 or so pages. The fee for this is $250.00 an hour if the lawyer's does the looking. If the assistant does it it's only $150.00 an hour. I said, have your assistant look it over. I have 2 other bank accounts from the early 70's that I transfer money to on occasion, I'll be getting rid of both tomorrow. If my wife was on them that's another 2 bank account the lawyers would have to look through. It would cost me more in lawyer fees then what's in the accounts. The more bank accounts you have open the more money the lawyer's fees will be.
