Morning all! Happy Monday (if that matters!) I have to take a cat to the vet today, so I need to get out the body armor for loading her in the carrier (which she hates). Happy happy joy joy! We're supposed to get clobbered with snow tomorrow. We'll see. They always come with the gloom and doom, then revise the accumulation down. Emergency bread and milk day!
I still have scars from 20+ years ago when we had a cat. My arm saving suggestion is load the cat into the carrier tail first

have fun

Good morning all from a wet, rainy and gloomy H-Town, at least weatherwise. Sport wise the town is a buzz. With the Jags loss to the Titans putting the Texans as division champs, definitely the talk of the town. Also gives them their first playoff game at home.
The son and dil will be returning to OR. this week, so we had the family here yesterday for a goodbye, pot luck dinner. We are a little concerned about they drive back with weather forecasted for the remainder of the week.
Needless to say, no trains yesterday.

STAY SAFE
LATER

Cats.

They knew to come wandering here. Lost and unwanted found refuge at our house. All living to an old age - between 16 and 18 years of age. They started arriving at the doorstep in 1978. The last one to arrive was Cranberry. She had cranberry markings in her fur and arrived at Christmas1992. When she died in 2009 no more arrived. It was as if they knew Dawn was ill and needed looking after. Our younger granddaughter would love a cat, but I think she will have to wait until she is much older; living in her own property perhaps.

UK modellers just got a BIG shock with the news that the leading UK model rail retailer Hattons have suddenly announced they are closing down!

If they can go under, anyone can.

I believe they recently bought a US model retailer, presumably they are finished too.
This is really getting bizarre!!

Heres news article about it.

Alan- did you learn that while living in Alabama?
I think the stores pay the weather people to predict snow a couple times a winter to boost grocery sales!
Mike,

Nope. They do that everywhere! Pittsburgh does it, they do it here, I think it's universal anyplace you get a shot at snow or ice! Plus, it would be the first snowfall of any consequence here and all the drivers will have to be re-trained in winter car operation!
Wouldn't surprise me a bit if the stores gave the TV stations a commission!

She gets terrified and lets loose the contents of her bladder. This makes it easy to get a urine sample! 🤣 I expected combat but got none. She just moaned like she was going off to the shelter, or some terrible form of execution. We always load them tail first!

You’re right, it’s like this everywhere. It started here in Illinois on Sunday. I went to the store in the afternoon for a couple of quick supper items and the bread and the milk were already ransacked.

The water store had a line out to the street this afternoon. Only time you see that is when a significant amount of snow is predicted.

Afternoon All,

Started out the day at 51F under a clear sky. It's grayish now. Today I did a bunch of inside and outside chores then headed to the train room where after 2 tries I modified the garage doors on the build. I'm happy with it now. I'm not sure what's on the agenda for tomorrow.

There is probably some underhanded deal with Hatton's and MBK. We are probably the big losers of the deal.

Tom- Great looking weathering.

Bill- Interesting bridge.

jmupton- Nice job on the diesel. I really like that shade of red.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Hatton’s. Sounds like someone miscalculated.

Edit:more info at

Hattons.co.uk

Edit #2: guys over on MRH forums think Hatton just shut the UK store and will run the US operations out of the Nebraska warehouse they moved the MB Klein’s to

Tom

Willie, Boris did not make it. He donated arms and legs and his neck/head his morning. The surgeon (loosely used term) called it last night when a surprising uncontrollable crack appeared in his resin body from thighs to almost the shoulders.

But, the good news is that Boris’s identical twin brother Morris has volunteered to drive the linesmen truck and is currently prepping for the surgery.
Relax, that vas my alter ego...Morris, I like that. I was detained
Southards new expensive Truck positioned at DiNastos Lumber in Lakevood 01_08_24.jpeg

One very warm and rainy night- Friday after Thanksgiving, we had to place a "hot" car on the team track, and get an empty bulkhead out of the plant... coming out, the engines made it through the gate, to the rear of the Truck. The damned flat derailed in the mud...We came back lite. DiNasto Lumber, Hwy 88 Lakewood, NJ. Reported 4 PM, 3 Alarms. That's Howell District 3's new $1.3 Mil Pierce Quint working toward getting a ladder pipe in operation. Don't see a supply, but my eyes ain't the best. Photo taken on the C&D Branch that used to be the Southern Secondary.
I think the place has been inactive for quite a while...Sign on the property, but it's written in Hebrew.
