Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and starting off at 50°. Things go downhill starting tomorrow around this time. There's still some kind of precipitation in the forecast starting Monday, ice on some days although not as dire as the long range forecast from yesterday. I'll bring extra wood to the covered front porch to keep it dry anyway.

I kept busy yesterday with home chores before my wife returned. I ran the Roomba vacuum, did a load of laundry, washed and put up the dishes and emptied ashes from the wood burning heater. My daughter brought her home and my grandson came along for the ride. He bought his latest high tech "toy" with him, a nice drone. I had seen it operate briefly at his home on Christmas Day, but here he could really let it loose. It's pretty neat. The camera not only records on a SD card, and broadcasts to the screen on the controller; but it also can send the video to his phone for viewing. His has a range of 6 miles and a battery life of 25 minutes, but he couldn't answer whether it could go 6 miles and return on one battery charge?

Out in the train shed, I resumed the task of removing, cleaning and re-positioning structures. These structures are all along the front of the layout between the fascia and the tracks. The road is imaginary and off the layout to save on the need to have vehicles.
First up is Casa Montez, a Mexican food place. I believe that this kit was from Heljan many years ago.

Across the street is Kevin's Toys, a kit from Smalltown USA.
View attachment 160837
Next up is Adella's Restaurant, I think that this is a DPM kit.

Across the outdoor eating area is another restaurant, as yet unnamed and no detailing, it is also from Smalltown USA.

We move on to the local liquor store, Benson's Beer & Liquor. This one is made from DPM modular walls and signs from my sign box.

The next business is simply known as Town Bank. This is also from Smalltown USA. They had previously issued this kit as Tina's Tart Shop.

Continuing on is another DPM structure that I simply call Drugs. At some point I will get a more proper sign/name.

In addition to cleaning structures, I started to get serious about imagineering the Ethanol plant's main structure. I purchased a couple of Pikestuff kits last Saturday to use their modular walls.

Karl - In Texas, pick up trucks with only two doors are pretty much considered as cars by most folks, unless they are duelies [sp?] 4x4's or you need a ladder to get into. A few years ago, my brother was in New York state and got a warning for driving his prohibited "truck" on a parkway.
Troy - You're definitely over my head lately. o_O First it was the Facebook stuff; as a non-user I have no clue. Then the D&D stuff, which is also meaningless, as I have never played!
Tom O - In 43 years, I never bought a single document home from work and filed it, except paychecks before the days of electronic deposits! And those weren't really filed. I'm sure the shredder has been working overtime in a few other homes lately.
Louis - Speaking of watching the news, I see that Marilyn Mosby is in quite a predicament with all of her lawyers wanting to quit.
James - May be a little late, but have a safe trip this morning.
Chad - The pictures of your home build are interesting. They don't build them like that down here. Heck, most homes don't even have basements in Texas.

Today is National Lego Day. That is the bane of every parent walking in the dim light in their homes at night.
Everybody have a great day, and I wish I was with James at the Big E.
Looks great!

Too Long: Didn't Read (TL: DR) version of my post:
The Nerds won over the big company that wanted to suck even more money by taking away their ability to purchase from 3rd party providers

The judge authorized all six of her attorneys to withdraw from the case. She now has a federal public defender.

Her former lead attorney has been charged with contempt of court. He asked the judge to allow him to withdraw to prepare his defense. The other five asked to withdraw as they will be witnesses in the contempt trial. The charge of contempt stems from the Judge's gag order. The lead attorney proceeded to have a press conference on the steps of the courthouse, after the judge's order!

Initially it was reported they all wanted to withdraw due to Mosbey's inability to pay. They used the contempt trial as their reason in court.

I hope the police officers she wrongly accused in the Freddy (scum bag) Grey case are enjoying all of this. All the police officers were acquitted of any serious charge. A few were reprimanded for not securing him in seat belts in the paddy wagon.
The only witness, another prisoner on the other side of the paddy wagon said, "Freddy was flopping around like a fish". The other prisoner was unharmed by the alleged "rough ride".
Freddy wanted to injure himself. He was going to jail without a fix and was hoping to get narcotics at the hospital. Drug addicts will do anything to get a fix.
The Baltimore police department has not been the same since. Mosby is a bombastic show boater. She has done long term damage to my city!
It's not a seditious conspiracy, but I can't wait to see her convicted!

I follow this case on my phone with the Baltimore Sun app. The Orioles, Ravens, Mosby, and the January 6th trials, those are my topics! I have faith in our courts!

Seems like the attorneys may have convinced the lead guy to call them as witnesses in order to get away from their non-paying client.

That's the sad part of the whole situation.

Good morning, err, afternoon gang!

Got up early this morning and started with the garage cleanup. Got 1 trash hopper completely full, still cant bring the little truck back indoors (sigh), but my fingers are numb from the cold so that's enough for now. SWMBO wants to go out today for shopping and see a movie, "A Man called Otto" then we are going to meet up with #3 son & fiancée for snackage.

Tomorrow my friend Keith, a local DCC guru will be here to help me plan out the layout electrically for UTP panels, boosters and switch control. I might as well get that started since it is still too cold to rip more subroadbed on the table saw out side, plus it's a 2 person operation and my helpers are scarce. Plus running bus lines and installing UTP panels is easier that way. Just gotta plan it out right!

Louis, I wish I could give a 🐀🐀( . ) about Baltimore and what goes on there, but I just can't. Yes, I was born there, lived there until I was 10, then moved west. As a young man I worked there, but in the last 25 years it has really gotten bad. There is a cancer there, stemming from city hall, but the voters are unable or unwilling to cut it out. Til that happens, I'll just hang on to memories of me and my Grandfather, watching Oriole games at 33rd street.

Good late morning. The white stuff is falling and straight down. The wind is calm at 1mph.

I am invited to a neighbor‘s house I met this week. He builds dioramas in 1/24th and some but rarely in 1/87th. The LHS owner told him I lived on his street. He knocked on the door the other day. He has a 1/24th scale diorama of a grain facility for me to look at before it gets picked up tomorrow. Says in a year he’ll do 4-6 dioramas. Usually for commercial clients. He doesn’t paint and farms that out.

Working on a bunch of stuff at the bench today.

Plus, some wheel sets. These are for Smudge617 for last last of his 2 tank cars

where the nose of the MP15ac is is about the length of the new wall/building. The new space is dictating some changes

Except there is a difference between a crossover SUV and a station wagon. Station Wagons are not lifted with big tires and large clearance and have actual hauling capacity in the back. Crossovers have higher ground clearance and bigger tires, and typically not as good of cargo space as its more a large hatchback or coupe with big tires. Totally stupid.

There are very few true station wagons left. I read recently only Volvo and Subaru have true wagons still. We had a Volvo station wagon until 2019 when it was totaled by an idiot. I'd love to get another wagon.
To me, crossovers always seemed to be a cross between SUV & minivan, not car-based like station wagons were.

Good morning from So. Central Wisconsin. We are on the cusp of a ” big snow event”. The weather guy this morning on TV says a ”weather event” is announced when a bigger than normal either rain or snow fall is predicted. 6” or more of snowfall in our area he said had always been considered an “event”. Events though until recent “media times“ (yep his words) were always used in the back stage areas of the weather department, not live on TV or Radio. He said some writer on a National weather channel used it a few times and a newbie Weather reader read it. Others started using it. Now anything over 3” seems to be named an “event” for snow. He then went into explaining models of forecasts, lines on the map, air flow and said, “it really depends where you are at”. So, for day 4 in a row, I will be mostly in the house. Not always though in the train room, hey I do have a real life! The prediction from 6AM today till noon Sunday is 7-12“ of heavy wet snow. Of course depending…

We ended up joining the kids for dinner last night. Got a text at 4:45PM asking if we wanted to join them for dinner at one of the local watering holes for 5:30. Turns out the daughter must have a listening device here. Terry no more then 30 minutes before asked me if we should ask them to join us as it has been awhile? 1- I explained, I have had dinner with them, u have been gone, 2- no we are not calling them 3. let them ask us. Then the texts started, good time.

For the 3rd day in a row the brother called. I answered hello and no I have not decided when I am coming out there. Not why he called. He just finished his physical and he qualifies for a weight loss shot. I explained to him the Medical Association says there are no shots for weigh loss. The shots are for controlling diabetes not for over weight 1%ers who pay off their doctors for prescriptions. “Tell me how you really feel” was his response. His doctor on Maui ( they r rare and mostly Concierge type) meaning they come to you. He has prescribed Ozempic for him. Said he will lose 30#’s in 5-6 months with no additional exercise then he does now. I said fine what you are doing is taking drugs from needy diabetics that are in short supply anyway because as a 1%er you are entitled, your doctor should have his license revoked. Pissed me off he did. Said he’s paying out of pocket for it. I said well $998 a month is peanuts to you, lots of diabetics who need it without insurance cannot afford it. He asked how do I know it’s $998 per month. He is going to pay $2100 per month. Terry told him it’s on the Insurance formulary every month, Tom takes it. He asks why I am on it. My response because I am a diabetic, remember. We then talked other things. 10 hours later and I am still steamed. Our medical system is a real cluster..k.

Waiting for the snow in Cheeseland
enjoy the day

Tom, as a fellow diabetic, I sympathise, it seem's your brother despite being a 1%er is quite naive in some matters. I wonder what he'll say in six months time when he hasn't lost the weight he thinks he's going to lose after receiving this seemingly "magic" weight loss shot.
Maybe you should suggest to him that he ensure's he has all this Dr's details, so he can ask for a refund when it doesn't work.

Oh! and those trucks look great by the way.

Thanks on the trucks.

I know my brother. He will lose the weight. Will he keep it off is the question?
He did not seem to know though that these weight loss drugs were developed for diabetics. Plus he was unaware the weight loss “Doctors” are putting diabetic drugs into short supply for vanity reasons.

Terry is still in shock I spoke like that to him. I never could in the last 21 years I worked for him. Hey, retirement and Covid (especially) has freed me up to speak my mind on lots of things.

I found this article about ozempic, you've probably seen this but just in case you hadn't.

Note that it mentions "obesity" many times, and it is not approved in the UK where the article comes from. Probably the same here in the US.

Karl, it is a sad and disturbing situation. I can't blame you for how you feel, I understand. This once great city has become unrecognizable in some areas. I'm glad to hear of those great memories of 33rd street. That was a magical place!

I was born on Caroline Street at the old Saint Joeseph's hospital in Baltimore. I have never lived more than eleven miles from where I was born.
When I was at my peak and making a profit was easy, I thought of buying a big house in one of the surrounding counties. Instead, I bought a house in the Beverly Hills area of Baltimore city. Martin O'Malley's mom was one of my neighbors.

Then my health failed, and my then wife, now ex went crazy. I was hemorrhaging money fast. I had no choice other than to lower my cost of living. I rented a cheap house in north Dundalk, Baltimore city. You were there. I now own a single home two blocks south from there, still in the city. My health has stabilized and I'm doing well financially, but I would never dream of moving again. I would not have the energy for it, and I enjoy living in Dundalk. Everything is close and life is convenient. I'm still big enough to be scary and my beagles make sure nobody can sneak up on me.

I can only hope and pray for my city and vote for honest people. I have faith it will rise again. I truly do love Baltimore.

The cheap motorhomes are over $100K
I remember we thought about a motor home saw one for sale nearby and we were 50k wow but ok we’ll go look, and frankly it was a bit sad, so we looked seriously and yep 100k easily…faints…ok I’m looking at the big ones but gulps that’s a lot of cash, and decided we just did not need one in this country,at that price a hotel sounded good!
