yes, I still want to drive across the states and it will probably still happen. We are just tired of the crime that happens every where, not just the US.

Punishment no longer fits the crime, I'm afraid. The Media makes it worse, by hoping for more clicks and views by twisting the headlines to say "the poor criminal had to stoop to crime to support his family," rather than saying "what an idiot the criminal is."

A question for the pro: Can I solder the wires directly under the Kato Unitrack track? Or should I use Kato 24-818 ?

index.php
I use the terminal joiners as well as feeder track (20-041).

Well another day of being sick with the comon flu or cold. Tested negative for the COVID again. That's good news in itself. I still have heavy nasal congestion and sore red ears and swollen stationary tubes. So I am not wearing my hearing aids at all since I am home alone. My cats Wyatt and Doc are loving the fact I have been home since last Thursday. They are spoiled but they are good company for sure. Drinking lots of juice and eating lots of fruit oranges and pineapples all fresh of course.

No train room action as this bothers me that I am not energized enough for that. I am burning wood yet again today. Rain just keeps on coming and the dampness is set in out there but not in my house!

I made home made chicken soup 2 days ago and I will be finishing it up today. It is helping me. Today I have to try to do some laundry like clean bed sheets etc.

I have been working a few hours at a time. I am working on a budget for the Safety Commitee 2023 which will be done by tomorrow. I have a few estimates to work on for other projects and a contract to look at and review.

TomO I have a small list I am working on for the Big E show coming up on Jan 28th. Mostly odd ball stuff and construction materials. A few more switches by micro engineering too. I do not plan on getting any locomotives unless they have a deal on a UP 844 or UP 3985 with T2 sound. I am looking for a few box cars and a few Scale Trains finger flat cars if that is even possible. Maybe another ALCO switcher or 4 axle unit. Anything else may end up being a impulse buy. This show is one of the best shows in my opinion to go to as the size and variety is incredible.

Tomorrow is my Aunt's funeral which I will not attend unfortunately. I cannot in good judgement go and risk getting other family members sick. Most of them are older than me and well as much as they would want me there I can't do it.

I checked the fire in the fireplace and reminded myself to check my oil level for the furnace. Turns out I am now at the halfway mark. So I will call Monday for a top off which will get me through to February and March. Wood supply is good. Honestly though the weather for November and December has been quite mild. I know the end of January, February and March will be gnarly and wicked cold as it is always that way here. So hang in there old man winter is just getting started.

NFL...

Sorry to hear about the Damar injury that is rough. Hopefully he makes it out to full recovery. The likely hood of him playing again is probrably out.

Greenbay Packers holy cow! I only watch when these guys play. I will tell you this, if they play like they did against the Vikings this past Sunday for the rest of the season against the Lions and the play offs......look out! Defense was the best I have seen in a long long long time! Special teams too! Offense is not quite there yet but close. Some improvements needed or rather tweaking.

Well I am going to go for now. I need to rest a bit and then work on a few things for work. Need to get my soup warmed up too.

Later!

I still have a post or two of random pics I wanted to share etc :) Just need to get back in the saddle here with work and house and everything (I forgot to pay property tax at the end of November as I missed their email reminder and I am on email only and got a written reminder in the mail I picked up yesterday -- that sort of thing -- luckily only $20 late fee)
Don’t screw with the tax man.

Glad you and family made it home safely. Looked like a great trip.

I take it wearing a mask at the funeral is out. I totally understand and agree with your reasoning though

Feel better and enjoy the cats. It’s that IMPULSE buy that gets me at shows or even the Hobby Shop. Heck, who am I kidding, I impulse buy online. But I am getting better…

Good afternoon all,

James - I came down with some type of cold last week, had some nasal congestion and a cough off and on, it let go Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday woke up feeling really good. Funny, wife had just remarked a week earlier that we never get sick in our house

Hope yours lets go soon!

That fire going in the stove/fireplace if a sure thing to take the dampness out of the air!

I moved trucks around last night also did some switching operations, ended up with this photo of trucks waiting to be unloaded at the Sawmill office bldg

Really like the way the tarpaper turned out, that building is over 10 years old and the tarpaper is spray painted newsprint or brown paper towels, I used both products now can't tell the difference.

Tried that...My luck is such that if I had 9999 tickets out of 10,000, the winning ticket would be the one I didn't have. That said, I already have my ticket for tomorrow night. A single entry as buying more only wastes money I don't have any longer. The Christmas season really blew through our budget. We're not destitute as we have 6 months worth of money to cover the bills and emergencies.
Back when I was still working, one of the super lotteries had a (then), super jackpot. We formed a pool that included 25 people @ $10.00 each.
That bought us 250 $1.00 tickets. Drawing came...not one of the 250 tickets had more than 2 numbers on a line, There were 6 lines plus bonus numbers on the bottom.....

CHAD -- Be very happy that you are not in California.
I just had to go look at my house taxes: It shows a 10% penalty plus "costs"? which adds another $39 to that
already re-dick-u-lous amount.

JAMES - Feel for you - Hope you can whip it back! Sorry about your not attending.

WILLIE - Nice pic this morning - good detail there!

Texted the local Son I L and suggested that he and I go to the Georgia game this Monday ... RATFINK said he already had his ticket - I asked, "Where's mine?"
I'd prolly fall asleep anyway, but won't tell him that!

Afternoon All,

This is the first day I've had some energy and I did a morning walk. It started out at 71F this morning with a high of 74F. It's been raining lightly most the day as a front comes through. I haven't done anything in the train room due to lack of energy. Dad and MOH have confirmed Covid and are taking antivirals. Both have minor symptoms. Son and I are still negative. Fun times.

Willie- Belated Happy Birthday. Nice scenes. That is a very nice gift.

Justin- Great to see you back again. Congrats on the promotion.

Sherrel- I'm like a bad penny. Happy Birthday to Foxie. I hope he gets some special treats.

Chad- Welcome home. I'll also miss your travel descriptions and photos.

James- I'm sorry you can't attend your aunt's funeral. I hope you get better soon. Maybe an option is live streaming it?

Dave- Nice looking scene.

I hope everyone has a good night.

I thought about the mask but I just do not want to risk it. It is all good. The family will be fine and appreciate me taking the precautions.

The cats lol they are something else. Wyatt wanted to place fetch with his ball. Yup you read that right. He plays fetch. We do that a few times a day. He loves it. Doc wouldn't give a second thought about it.

IMPULSE buys.... oooh man that has been a tough one for me over the years. I am in a place where I can do those things. Years ago not so much. I hate it when I do see something of my interests then I say to myself "think about it" then boom! it's gone! That drives me crazy! So I try to avoid those situations knowing full well I can re-sell if need be. Last month I passed on an Alco RS-36 and it was mint condition at a great price and like an idiot I hesitated and boom! it was gone! pissed me off for days as it was a very hard to find scheme etc. Dagumit it still bothers me today 😂 🤣

Good Afternoon y'all
29F and sunny .. no wait cloudy .. no wait sunny

Got a hair up and decided to go to Troy and BS with a friend for a bit. Ya, right - couple of hours. He has a '31 coupe he is working on, got air springs and the hemi is sitting waiting to go in. Working on the interior too.

Anyway, I managed to grab my camera and as luck would have it: 1st one is a Westbound just East of East Kootenai Falls. There is an Eastbound in the hole at Kootenai Falls of which I will wait for. Come to find out they ran this up to West Kootenai Falls, and a 2nd Eastbound to come after the one waiting. I did not wait at The Falls, instead I beat feet to West Libby and caught them both. This and the other 6 pix are in CTCLibby Pix.

I have a complete case of the F.K'its so I don't know what else I will get to today.

Some of you folks can relate to these:

I stole this and laughed til I cried.. #8 is my favorite

1. When one door closes and another door opens, you are probably in prison.

2. To me, "drink responsibly" means don't spill it.

3. Age 60 might be the new 40, but 9:00 pm is the new midnight.

4. It's the start of a brand new day, and I'm off like a herd of turtles.

5. The older I get, the earlier it gets late.

6. When I say, "The other day," I could be referring to any time between yesterday and 15 years ago.

7. I remember being able to get up without making sound effects.

8. I had my patience tested. I'm negative.

9. Remember, if you lose a sock in the dryer, it comes back as a Tupperware lid that doesn't fit any of your containers.

10. If you're sitting in public and a stranger takes the seat next to you, just stare straight ahead and say, "Did you bring the money?"

11. When you ask me what I am doing today, and I say "nothing," it does not mean I am free. It means I am doing nothing.

12. I finally got eight hours of sleep. It took me three days, but whatever.

13. I run like the winded.

14. I hate when a couple argues in public, and I missed the beginning and don't know whose side I'm on.

15. When someone asks what I did over the weekend, I squint and ask, "Why, what did you hear?"

16. When you do squats, are your knees supposed to sound like a goat chewing on an aluminum can stuffed with celery?

17. I don't mean to interrupt people. I just randomly remember things and get really excited.

18. When I ask for directions, please don't use words like "east."

19. Don't bother walking a mile in my shoes. That would be boring. Spend 30 seconds in my head. That'll freak you right out.

20. Sometimes, someone unexpected comes into your life out of nowhere, makes your heart race, and changes you forever. We call those people cops.

21. My luck is like a bald guy who just won a comb.

Been busy.l.the other walked in original hated the face this is the third one, it stays
He says it’s a big wall I can fit them all……this may take a while…..

seeing a physio tomorrow hopefully they can give me some exercises to strengthen my muscles and deter the sciatica, because when it flares it is like someone throws in a poker and twists, I read on the internet - which we all know is not perfect, that weakened muscles can cause sciatica, I have started dancing, weight lifting, strengthening core, if I do a tenth of what the other half has achieved I will be happy, he is literally growing muscles back…his bum is to die for lol…..almost as good as when I married him.
Wishing everyone a better year than last, and some of us certainly need a better year.
As we get older, family and friend, wither and die, I suppose I should be grateful,as in my personal experience I have only so far lost older ones. many contend with far far worse.
Anyway, Rocket added, thry both still need finishing but painting is easy, it is getting the features right.
Goodnight all.
