Morning all,

Sad when I have to tell the vendor where he broke our system and where to correct his mistake. At least what he originally was asked to fix is working. Should have taken him 15 minutes, not 3 different techs trying to figure out something isn't working because some idiot changed the database password and didn't change it in the application that uses the account for maintenance purposes.

5 years and 6 weeks to go...

On another note it's currently 29° and clear going for a high today of 50°. Not really bad for the first week of January.
Speed up that retirement plan. If you win Mega Millions that should do it.

I appreciate sunlight and get really moody during extended overcast weather.
BOY - that is an understatement from my viewpoint. We have had mostly solid overcast and a smattering of rain every day for 7 straight days - finally saw a strange yellow ball for a couple hours yesterday - then mostly light rain and drizzle all night!
We are two inches above average so far this season.

My N scale workbench is already built (diameter: 2'). It's just for my very first steps in N scale, so I don't need to build an empire. Oh no ! Not another pizza... :p

Good morning creatures of habit. New place to sleep, same old result. Bed between 11:30 and midnight, 4AM wake up call, back to bed and finally fully up at 6. Biggest difference here is I have neighbors in 3 directions, we are on a corner and it’s not quiet out here. Oh yeah, I have till noon to clean the white stuff off the sidewalk. Hopefully not longer then a year here.

I did get a visitor welcoming me to the neighborhood last night. She was rather disappointment though when I opened the door. I believe she was looking for fresh meat but Terry and I have known this lady since we moved the offices into this duplex in 2016 and 17. Decent cookies though…

We might have received 1/2” of white stuff since 6PM last night. It’s 30 now heading to 35 so the removal needs to be done as I am doubtful it would melt by noon. The movers were nice guys but the crews changed to move stuff into here. They added 2 ladies and they unpackaged the kitchen stuff and set it up. There was a plan as to where furniture and things were to be placed. Only a couple times did they confer with me. Hard to stay out of the way but per doctors orders I still have weight lifting limitations. The closing is at 11AM as the walk through yesterday was fine.

My SIL this morning promised to bring over 2 pieces of framework that each are 2’ x 8’ long plus some extra framing pieces. I am going to experiment adding 6” of width to the modules. Still build in the first 24” but use the additional 6” as scenic space or for fuller buildings then just the facades I normally create. In other words, without my layout I was getting very bored. I had tried to start weathering freight cars and vehicles again but having had to drive 3 miles to the bench wasn’t working. Hopefully that will change now.

enjoy the day

Sherrel, you can borrow my light walls. Last year when the medical folks decided I suffered Seasonal Affective Disorder the lights and added Vitamin D helped. We had one stretch before Christmas 2022 of 13 days without the sun appearing. We are in another stretch now.

I have 6 panels of 4- 4’ 5000k, Daylight LED bulbs. It maybe be voodoo medicine but I think it helped. It was also much cheaper then a flight to the islands of crazy expense…

Good morning all, +14 F (forecast was +24), however they did get our snowfall amount pretty close, we ended up with 10.5" of new white stuff and they said 6-10. Good guess.

I spent an hour clearing the snow last night so muscles are groaning a bit. We have a one stage snow thrower worked very well in this snow, it was light enough to get some momentum. Otherwise, I have one of those big scoops you push with two hands, works with the wet heavy stuff.

Willie - wonder if I could get your wife to paint my backdrop for me?

more later, Dave LASM

We made it back yesterday (4th) around 11:30am landing time in SLC. Home a little after 1pm but had to return the rental car which was done at 2:15pm. Shortest rental of my life -- 90 min.

Jan 4th was also literally a 40 hour day for me. Due to flying east back over the international date line we added 16 hours to the calendar day. So we woke up at 5am Japan time on the 5th, and left Osaka by plane for Tokyo around 7:40am Japan time. Got to Tokyo and transferred over and on the plane around 10:30 or 10:40am for 10:55 leave but it was late leaving, closer to 11:20 or 11:30am. We flew about 10 1/2 hours and landed back in time at 6:46am on Jan 4 iat Dallas/FW airport. Got through immigration and customs in no time (easiest in my life except the one time we went direct Tokyo / SLC -- International into SLC was a breeze). Got on a plane and flew to SLC, landing around 11:15 or 11:20am and taxinging for 10 - 15 min so on the clock, we landed in SLC about the same clock time as we took off from Tokyo on Jan 4.

More later.

Tried that...My luck is such that if I had 9999 tickets out of 10,000, the winning ticket would be the one I didn't have. That said, I already have my ticket for tomorrow night. A single entry as buying more only wastes money I don't have any longer. The Christmas season really blew through our budget. We're not destitute as we have 6 months worth of money to cover the bills and emergencies.

Going to miss your daily travel log! Glad everyone's safe!

I still have a post or two of random pics I wanted to share etc :) Just need to get back in the saddle here with work and house and everything (I forgot to pay property tax at the end of November as I missed their email reminder and I am on email only and got a written reminder in the mail I picked up yesterday -- that sort of thing -- luckily only $20 late fee)
