Well I forgot earlier, that today marks the completion of my 71st trip around the sun. I think that I know the way now.

That's the idea but I forgot to mention it.Christian -- Unless there is something there that I do not see --
You do not need to insulate the "siding" track ...
Unless you plan to park a third locomotive there?
Get better my friendI am going to go make some chicken soup for lunch..
I am going to go make some chicken soup for lunch....home made! Not that Campbells stuff....later!
Jeff - raft pic very interesting, wonder if that is one of those rafts that floated firewood out to the steamboat. I understand that along the route different places they would float out loads of cordwood to fuel the steam boat engines so boat would not have to slow down to take on wood.
Jeff: I have been freezing both beef and chicken stock that I ...um... acquire from carcass's or bones. I do it slightly different though: I put the broth in freezer ice trays and when solid, twist to break them out and into a big baggie they go. This way, if I do not make that full recipe I just grab the amount I think I will need and ima good to go.Hope you feel better soon! My wife hates it when I make chicken stock. The rotisserie chicken, especially the ones from Costco, are quite tasty in their own right, but the carcass makes FANTASTIC chicken stock. I'll boil the carcass for a couple hours to get all the bone marrow I can. I even break bones to expose the insides so the bone marrow can add flavor.
One rotisserie carcass can make over a gallon of chicken stock. I measure out cups of broth and put it in a random tupperware container in the freezer. Once frozen, I transfer all the 1-cup "pucks" into ziploc bags to keep them in the freezer without occupying a tupperware container for more than a day or so.
I haven't bought chicken broth in probably 20 years. Most recipes call for chicken stock in 8oz incriments, so freezing them in 1-cup "pucks" makes it simple to grab the amount you need.
I'm just getting over a cold, and I LOVE having a some warm chicken broth that isn't from a can.
Willie- Congrats!Well I forgot earlier, that today marks the completion of my 71st trip around the sun. I think that I know the way now.
empty, however it is painted black like the pictureLASM -- Is your layout tank empty, or did you plant some "fake" water in it?
38 or so.How many trips around the sun have you been in the model railroading business?
Have a Happy One, Willie.Well I forgot earlier, that today marks the completion of my 71st trip around the sun. I think that I know the way now.
With all the buildings you have I thought you had been modeling since you was 3!! Happy 71st.38 or so.
I agree.Good day, everybody!
More rain coming over the next few days. I'm not disappointed, especially since the temperatures are quite mild. We need the rain.
I'm starting to wish I would have planned to add lighting to my layout. I'm N scale, so lighting is a bit of a challenge, just due to size constraints.
I'm coming to the conclusion that lighting adds a depth to a layout that you cannot achieve otherwise.
Imagine this painting by John Stobart without lighting effects. The light within the boat and within the cabin on the raft adds SO MUCH depth to the scene. The painting wouldn't be that same without it.

Happy Birthday WillieWell I forgot earlier, that today marks the completion of my 71st trip around the sun. I think that I know the way now.
James get well.Well the start of the New Year is rather slow going. I have been sick with the "crud" in my chest, throat, and nasal. No COVID though just cold crud crap. So I have been home working from home a few hours a day but not much. I feel blah. I was hoping to feel well enough to go to my Aunt Ruth funeral who I mentioned passed away last Friday. The funeral is this coming Friday but I can't go if I am sick. I don't want anyone to get what I have. A real bummer and a bit sad as I really want to go. I am doing everything I can to bounce back but it's slow going. I don't feel good enough to go in the train room to just run trains. Pathetic!
I did buy another Walthers structure on evil bay my 1st purchase of the year train related. A whole 18 bucks worth. I got it for the JR Fuels facility that I will be building on my layout. Walthers 933-3517 Office & Guard Shack I had my eye looking for one of these kits for a while now as my old friend Jerome built one for his JTEX yard. I really liked it and now I got one! Here is a pic of what it looks like.

So here is my challenge to myself.....I have 23 days before the Big E Amherst Train Show in West Springfield, Massachusetts....
No more purchases for train related items until then? I dunno this will be toughAh discipline will play a roll.
We shall see how I do. I do have some serious mad money set aside for the show. I look forward to it every year. Definitely the best one to go to around here in these parts.
I am burning wood and I have been the last 4 days and will continue to do so when I am home. It really isn't that cold at all, averaging around mid to low 30's but supposedly it will drop in the next few days. My reason to burn wood was that it has been raining for the last 5 days and I hate damp weather! So I like to keep the house dry to a certain extent. Especially now while I am sick.
Interesting thing happened to me last weekend. I got a text message from someone that I dated last spring. I really liked the gal too. She reached out to me to wish me a Happy New Year. It was a pleasant chat. Maybe we can make it a go again as it was an unusual happen stance that we split amicably due to her father's illnesses. We shall see.
I will try to catch on all ya'll daily activities here in the coffe shop! Always seems very busy in here.
I am going to go make some chicken soup for lunch....home made! Not that Campbells stuff....later!
