Jaz- Why does one supervisor have a flag?
They carry them folded up, because the guys working on the track are at risk from rolling stock, a supervisor should be at the outside - each end - of the group to slow, stop any locos that would endanger the staff.
shame they do not have something similar on motorways because a number die from being hit by vehicles every year, I dare say there are still nasty statistics but in theory this reduces incidents.

I thought I said white hats are fully trained staff, blue hats are trainees,so at a distance a supervisor can see if a blue hat is in a potentially dangerous position, they all wear the orange so the drivers can hopefully see them.

Yesh I have seen the new black is orange 🍊 but those are plain orange and no striped fluorescent to be seen in bad weather, and no target on the back for if they escape. Although nowadays they could design built in tasers that are remotely set off….ccccrrrrrkkkkk! If they attempt to move out a designated area.

Good morning....I see Scale trains entered the 4 axle market with a GP 30. Too old for me, I thought they would've have done a GP 38-2 or a 40-2. With inflation going on now people don't have that expendable income and to me a GP 30 would be a small market for that era. Well I guess they're saving me money again.
Coffee Flo, warm the mug up it's 3 degrees out.

Hmmm... 99 pages so far in this coffee shop. How high will it go before Feb smacks us?

I want to report getting mugged yesterday.

Took the wife out to Joann Fabrics to get some canvas for a gaming terrain project (i'll share pics in another thread if it works)

As we walked in, some cute as buttons little mini scouts of the girl type (brownies, more than likely) let me know in NO-uncertain-terms that I'd be leaving the store with some of their wares...

I told the wife it was going to be rough getting out of there...

Since they discontinued wife's favs of the shortbread with chocolate icing, she's not been interested. Our daughter has long since passed the girl scout stage.

Heading up to pay, one of the brownie-thugs noticed me, and stared. Perhaps glared? My memory got a little fuzzy.

When my wife found me, I had a bag in hand. And my wallet was devoid of cash. All gone.

They pressed their Carmel Delight/Samoas and Thin mints on me. And took my cash! GONE!

My only hope is that the thin mints really do work and I'll drop a stone of weight by eating them.

Here's all I got for my $20

Yeah, those little gals hit me too at my front door. A gang of em. Some were merely doing calisthenics on my sidewalk, seemingly oblivious to the primary intent of being there while the leaders applied their sales pitch. I asked em if they were going to bake those cookies themselves, but they didn't seem to know as they looked back at the adult who looked like she was standing back to provide covering fire for them. They took me for a few boxes of some kind of cookies but won't bring em back till sometime in February. It was a terrifying encounter.

Good morning. Happy Sunday. 10° and sunny. With the snow cover that makes it extra bright.

First on the agenda is to open the driveway, after the overnight plowing recovered it. Hopefully, it's not too hard packed. Beyond that, it's a day of rest.

I am feeling yesterdays snow removal efforts in numerous muscle groups.

Good Morning all it’s been awhile since I’ve been here. 32 degrees in the Ozark Foothills sunny skies. Here’s what I’ve been doing besides constraining on my Millitary Models. I’ve been upgrading some more old Lionel O27 Piggyback Trailers I still need to get some wheels on them but it’s been a fun project.

Good morning all! Sunny and 29 heading for sunny and 36 today. Other than the temp, looks like a beautiful day. Back to work tomorrow for 7 days straight. We get more weekends off now than we used to, but you pay for it by working a lot of days in a row just before or after it. 7 isn't bad I guess, but 5 would be better :)

The grandson's basketball game didn't go well at all yesterday unfortunately. His team really just didn't play well at all and this is the first game I think I've ever watched where he didn't score at least once. They just didn't look coordinated at all and threw the ball away to the other team far too many times. So proud of him though. He's so intense and he played hard from start to finish. They just didn't have it yesterday, so the season is over.

Lee: Those pics look awesome!
Troy: The Girl Scouts get me every time with those cookies. The Boy Scouts get me with the popcorn.

Nothing much else going on at the moment. Hope you all have a great day!

OK, that makes it around 6pm our time, so unless they have an automated reply system, which they might not, you won't get a reply till Monday. If your worried about it, cancel through PayPal, and maybe email them on Monday, see if you get a response.
I ordered the new Scale Trains locomotive on Saturday morning around noon, but my order to the company in the Czech Republic s almost three weeks ago. I contacted PayPal and they said they would contact the seller. Hopefully we cn get this resolved either way.

And a late Good Morning to All. Clear and 37° on a day expected to be in the 70's, and remaining very nice through Tuesday. Then our major weather event starts around noon Wednesday. The NWS predicts 3" of rain before the temperature drops to 19° overnight and 1.5" of snow on Thursday. Lows Thursday and Friday around 10°, then a gradual warm up from Saturday on. Thursday may be one of the very few days around here that the temperature does not go above the freezing point. Still better than 2' of snow in the Northeast.

Tonight we will be headed o Dallas for my late brother's wake at a high dollar country club. The estate is footing the bill. This place (country club) is four doors down from my childhood home which my brother still lived in when he passed away. Since this is an Irish wake, I will not be driving home afterward, instead we will be staying at my daughters home and we will be riding with her. Playing it very safe.

Since it's late this morning Flo, make it a chicken fried steak sandwich with oven fries and Sugar-Free A&W Root Beer.
Thanks to all who liked or made comments on those laser-cut wood structures I posted yesterday; Karl, Rick, Sherrel, Tom, George, OB Ken, Tom O, Joe, Gary, Smudge, Hughie, Louis, Troy, Mikey, Curt, James.

Ground cover resumed yesterday out in the train shed, but not for long. I got bored and started painting figures again. I have about 50 in progress ones and I need to complete some of them. Sorry, no pictures today as I am late and need to finish up some household chores as well as getting packed for the overnight trip.

Sherrel - Your tale regarding hurting your back moving a railroad tie reminds me of a buddy of mine. While driving alongside the ATSF ROW back in the 70's, he and his wife saw several places where they had stacked used RR ties that had just been removed. She suggested that he go back and get a few to make her a garden retaining wall. So he went back that night with his pick up and filled the bed with ties. He knew that they were heavy having loaded them and then proceeded to break the rear axle of the truck on the way home!
Curt - Yeah. The GP30 is a bit too early for my era, and they aren't offering the ATSF version yet.

I will not be in tomorrow morning since I will be in Dallas for my brother's memorial service. Although I may figure out how to log in with the phone.
Everyone have a great day. Stay safe and warm.

Lee: I like what you do with Lionel Hi-Rail stuff. The Piggy Back flat upgrade with the wooden deck, is fantastic. Nice to see you posting again.

I ventured out into the cold. The snow thrower made short work of the snow Public Works redeposited in front of my driveway...I also cleared around the fire hydrant, and in front of the mail box. Now, I can relax the rest of the day.

So, today those who care will find out who will play in the Super Bowl. Football lost its luster many years ago, as far as I'm concerned. Possibly, too many years of mediocre local teams,[Giants and Jets], have more to do with my indifference than anything else.

Today, marks the 36th anniversary, of our closing the deal on this residence. We have been somewhat unhappy here, but every time there was an opportunity to move on, something would happen to keep us here. So, here we are...........We raised our children here, and in spite of obstacles, they have done well. (and had the good sense to move elsewhere). I still think back to the high school guidance counselor, who wouldn't sign off on the youngest going to College...any college. He needed to go to V0-tech, she said....Thought of her last month, when he was awarded his MBA at UNC. (He did start with vo-tech, learning Avionics at the USMC!), but that's not what the lady had in mind. Life is funny, eh?

Good Morning all! A simply beautiful day here in Houston. Oh, but it's not going to last. 90% chance of rain Mon., Wed., Thu. with temps taking a dive to 28 on Thursday.
Yesterday was ate up with chores, everything from curbside groceries to dog to the groomer. Hence, not trains. We should probably take advantage of the weather today and get out and do something fun.

We live on the edge of a village I know the name of a couple of people, the other half would like to live miles from anyone else, luckily Girl Scouts and cookie drives are not seen by us,occasionally a Mormon (there are no local or not even local churches exist I do not know where they come from, but always pleasant) or a n other Christian appears usually an older bloke and a younger about to be a missionary to the third world, again polite, okay to chat to. perhaps the odd someone who wants to know if we have any scrap we want taken away, or they have seen one of the old cars and are willing to take them off our hand and give us enough for a takeaway in order to do so, the cars stay where they are. we did get mugged over a tractor we had not used for a couple of years, then discovered we could have easily got 4 or t times the price we accepted…oops. Still had they not arrived the poor tractor would probably still be there.
But your Girl Scouts sound like we need a high fence,a loud barking dog, cami clothes, a door bell with no power, and quick shutting curtains. all that sugar! shudders.

Yeah, someone did say you were referring to scale trains, sorry, think brain was in neutral, unusual tho' I had no problem with any stuff I've ordered from the Czech Republic, as you say, hopefully PayPal can get it sorted for you.

Afternoon All,

Made a quick trip to Wally World this morning. Surprisingly it wasn't very busy. After getting home and into the train room I placed the build on the layout and drew around the edges so when the roofs are on, I know where to drill holes in the plywood for wiring. Since I didn't have a car handy I grabbed an older Athearn F7 (with sound) to check the clearance of the future platform. After that I was walking back to put the loco up and hit my elbow on the corner of fascia so hard, I bruised and cut it. Of course, the loco went to the floor and fell apart. It hit the floor so hard MOH called up to see if I was okay. Needless to say, a future project.

I bit the bullet and put the roof bracing in place. They are extremely fragile. I busted the first 3 that I attempted to put in (had to repair them to have enough). I think I have them all in properly but not entirely sure. I guess I will find out tomorrow with the roof install. Overall, not a good day in the train room.

Thank you for the photo likes yesterday.

Jaz- Nice scene but it looks like only the supervisors are working! Are all those ducks yours?

Mikey- Nice RH area. The desk looks great as a worktable but maybe too big?

Joe- It's amazing the GP30's have lasted that long. Reminds me of the B-52's.

James- Great haul. Glad you had a good time and the weather cooperated.

Lee- Excellent modeling.

Hughie- Great looking structure.

I hope everyone has a good night.
