Should I look for it at the local midwest grocery?
Oddly enough, we have that exact product on the shelf at our local Kroger here in Houston.
Before you ask, no I haven't tried it. Sugar and carbs, you know.

Later, it kinda piqued my interest. It seems it has a shelf life of 2 years from manufacture. Yes, I thought manufacture was an unusual word to use in the making of bread. Also said good with peanut butter, jams & jellies and cheeses. You know could put a few cans away for blizzards, hurricanes, prolonged power outages or maybe even in a survival kit in the car in winter (James, are you listening 😃 😃 ) t seems it has been around for a very long time.

Evidently, this is a New England thing. Some said it's good with Pork-n-Beans.

I never ate it when I lived in NE but I have a case of the stuff on my SHTF shelf.

Well, howdy there internet people, and those who can sing Fortunate Son word for word.

It's Troy again. Today, lets talk about snowstorms and bread in a can

But first... MIL is doing fine. Wife and local sis are working to keep the fire lit under her bum (No, no flaming hot chilis were ingested). If they don't keep on, MIL will get comfortable back home, and start the hospitalization cycle all over again.... Meeting with the auction house/realtor/senior relocation service next week. Just a prelim. My spousal unit is comfortable with their service due to them helping dispense of Aunt's belongings post funeral. MIL liked their service enough then to request the girls get that set up again.

No dates yet. Just keeping the wheels moving on the relocation train for MIL

And, our author facebook feeds found a gent up in Alaska with this on his Costco shelf. Just waiting to be consumed.

I don't recall ever eating this. My wife asked if it was leftover from military C-rations.

Does this fly off the shelves in the NE of the US when bad weather warnings are out? Is this the snowstorm staple?

Should I look for it at the local midwest grocery?

Or, is my wife's assessment more accurate?

I have enjoyed the new England brown bread for 50 years. My wife found a recipe, but it was not as good as the canned one.

KATO (Japan) has announced a new set of container cars with containers for the Swiss Rhätische Bahn (RhB):

Supposed release is July and no one has pre-orders yet. I may need to ask a special dispensation from the wife to abbrogate the current new train moratorium for this. I expect it to sell out fast and become unobtanium. And I am a sucker for containers and container cars.

I only have 4 NA UP locomotives and all my cars for them are well or flat cars with containers (and a few tractor trailers). I have a whole plastic bin (the kind with the split tops that lock together) full of Japanese containers and a whole shelf with a whole lot of Japanese container flat cars. (I do have a smaller selection of other freight on the Japan side). A good portion of my European cars are also flat/well/tractor trailer cars with containers and/or tractor trailers.

I am a sucker for them and this new Swiss set is awesome. I have a few of the RhB locomotives and passenger cars but no freight.

This is where I gotta get to....this is the interchange exit from I-90 to I-91 south to get to the show which is jus a few miles south of this interchange.

Not much going on there.....

Good afternoon all,

it is up to about 3 above, maybe get up to 20 tomorrow. Starting to get used to the cold a little.

Looking forward to working on the layout some tomorrow. I think I will connect the mainline to the feed mill module

would be the red line. Will first cut the plywood then decide on the grade.

My wife wants some of my attention so I can't get carried away (like I usually do)

James: That's because you are pretty far inland. ;) Locally, the hypesters keep upping the anticipated total accumulation by the forecast... Enjoy the show!

We went to the Acme around 0900 this morning. The panic was on...all we needed was shreddies, and yogert. Found an 18 pack of fresh eggs, on sale. Took 30 minutes to check out.. While walking across the parking lot, observed several incidents of bumper cars, as everyone wanted to be the first to leave the shopping center.

Gas station were funny, Wawa, with the highest price $3.39 was the most crowded. The Conoco, Quick Chek and Exxon @ $3.33 were almost deserted. Guess they are showing they can afford it, eh?

The mail guy delivered the February Railroad Model Craftsman this morning. Looks pretty good content wise.

Modeling challenge, a Coil - tong for an overhead crane.

Eyes up coils in open cars in Wilson, PA on Conrail.
If you're curious as to where I'm going here, I have some nice Tangent gondolas that need loads and purpose.

PRR G 28 with cover, (Bobs Photos), Contrary to my first impression the cover is three distinct sections. Used to carry "cold" coils, more prove to weather damage. Another modeling challenge, as there is no known model of this relatively small class available, per my source. Based on photos, it is possible tomodify an Athearn BB 50' covered gondola to vaguely resemble the prototype...
10 ton coils, so 80 ton a wagon on average, nice:)

This is Saturday right? or tomorrow for me

Ahhhh, just got back from the cigar lounge. Grocery stores are packed with people buying the milk, bread and TP. I still don't understand what it is about the TP. Most be really afraid of something.
Timonium is a week away. I brought all my modules into the house for a final inspection before loading the transport case with them. I'll start the inventory of stuff to take tomorrow. Last trip was a nightmare with all the stuff I forgot despite having packed it into boxes for the trip.
Still feeling a bit dizzy from time to time despite loading up on more water than usual. Stopped at Walmart and bought a cuff blood pressure monitor. BP is about normal: 12x/70-80, with pulse in the upper 50s. Prolly just the old age setting in like you said Sherrel.

Morning from the Wild, Wild West! At the moment it is 61 F, but the low is forecast to be 46F - Think maybe someone had too many shots last night! The forecast is also for Windy and Sunny - which usually means another Santa Anna on the rampage.

LOUIS - Thanks for the well wishes! Made a doctor appointment for Monday morning with my Primary; possibly he will want to do blood work as it has been not quite 11 months prior (time sure flys)! My BP has been all over the place for a couple days and heart rate is over a hundred ... had a pretty good nights sleep so will see how today goes.
Maxine says life is like a roll of toilet paper - The closer you are to the end - the faster it goes!

CURT - Sure hope you are feeling better too?

The Spousal Unit made the switch over to - Frontier/T-Mobile/AT%T/DirectTV - for TV and Internet saving around $50 a month - It is a mix of several companies; so far it looks great with 5G and lightening speed internet. Watch them jack up the price after a year or so?
ANYHOO! - Now we can just unplug one small box (about the size of a CD player), throw it in the RV and be off with both TV and Internet - we will see?

Cups empty - better find more - think MEL's is gonna have to go 24/7?
Good Morning All. Clear and 31° here, the Weather Underground guy down the road is off-line this morning, so we're using my back porch thermometer today. My remote one broke and I haven't replaced it yet. No snow here, but interestingly the radar shows snow about 250 miles away in SW Texas, just west of San Antonio/Austin. Still looking at near 70° tomorrow and Sunday, back to moderate until Wednesday night with temps in the teens for a couple of days. Still better than those minus temperatures that many of you are reporting.

Uneventful grocery trek yesterday. A few more empty shelves than last week, and the prices were definitely higher again. Gasoline however was still below $3.00/gallon, and I had enough gas points for a further 70¢ reduction.

I'll get the A1C measurement checked next Wednesday when my regularly scheduled appointment comes up. The last four have held steady at 5.8, the daily blood sugar measurements have stayed in the 108-129 range for most of the last three months. I had a 169 one day because I may not have taken the Metformin the night before. Reducing carb intake did the trick for me; I never consumed much sugar or sweets to begin with. My doc says 140 carbs/day and keep the blood sugar below 150. Fortunately I have not gotten to the insulin stage.

Thanks to all for the likes and comments regarding the pictures of some of my population; OB Ken, Jaz, Patrick, Tom O, Karl, Steve J, Sherrel, Hughie, Joe, Justin, Louis, George, Curt, Mikey, Tom, Gary, Rick.

Eggs over easy and a handful of bacon today Flo. Yesterday's banter scared me away from the Mexican stuff today!

Out in the train shed yesterday afternoon was really just a continuation of the past few. More ground cover and the last of the ballast that I plan for now. Moving on to trees and bushes next. I don't remember taking any photos yesterday, but if I did, I left the camera out there and I don't feel like getting dressed and going to get it. I also ran a few trains because I just like to.
So here's just a few random photos.

Karl - Happy Birthday from someone who has already been there!
Excellent scene yesterday.
Jaz -

Simple answer, just don't wear any like Brittany Spears.
Greg - On-line banking - Here with our small town bank, I just went inside and sat with a bank officer who did the setup from her desk for me in about ten minutes.
Hughie - Yep! Portion control. Losing weight was easier when I cut out thirds at suppertime. I am working on seconds now, with limited success.

Everybody have a great day. Be safe and stay warm.
By looks of those people by the night club, I think they might produce the odd street pizza…lol

Ok sorry what’s TP?
