Good morning to all weather challenged global modelers. The weather we all seem to be able to deal with, I can’t image dealing with the after effects of that giant volcano blow out in Tonga in the Pacific Ocen. Think about it.

With that somber note, we are off. Flo, I would like a diet Dr. Pepper, a large oatmeal cinnamon raisoned baked pancake in wheat flour. If Mel can’t handle it, 4 pieces of bacon and a piece of sourdough toast. About 1/2 way through then a large glass of milk.

Watched 1 1/2 of the football playoffs yesterday. The 1st game announcers seemed to be in studio then in the broadcast booth. Tirocco and Brees voices seemed coming out of a tunnel or like the home zoom cast voices. The second game, wow. Disappointment as I expected a nice close game until the end, not the miserable display of football by a over hyped coach’s team. Buffalo looked great though. The QB reminded me of Arron Rodgers about 10 years or so ago. Knew when to run and was very effective with it. No clue who is playing today and the games will be on until I walk away from them.

Today might be a nice day for a walk depending on that wind chill. Hopefully the SIL had someone clear my trail. I am not in good enough shape yet to be using snowshoes.

On the modeling front. Today is programming day for the ProtoThrottle. I was hoping to use a Lokprogrammer but the buddy I was going to borrow it from has some late orders to get out. I can’t use JMRI as it is windows based and there are no Windows machines in the house. I know I can emulate something to run it on IOS but that is slightly above my comfort level. This will be fine. It just takes a long while and a few choice words.

Enjoy your day

Good thing I have a freezer full of frozen pizza, and other leftovers.

And the snakebite medicine!! I hope you feel better. My better-half has been down with influenza A for three full weeks - - Three 'vid tests, all negative even though she has cmopared symptoms (she is a healthcare professional) with a guy who was hard hit by verified Covid. Very, very similar. She is not sure how the docs are differentiating the two in their diagnoses, but so far they've been right!.

Good Morning All. Mostly clear and 25°, not quite as cold as predicted but cold enough. Yesterday was miserable with 30 mph north winds all damn day long. Today is supposed to be 55° with variable winds less than 5 mph. I know that it probably isn't as miserable as some of you guys with snow and ice, but I like to be outdoors without having to bundle up. Unfortunately we're looking at a repeat Thursday through Saturday after 75° on Tuesday!!!

Seems that I am getting over whatever was ailing me last week. Aches and uneasy sleep are gone, the shortness of breath is almost gone and only the runny nose is left. Never had any issues with taste as others here have reported.

Yesterday, I got a call from one of those polling centers asking a variety of questions regarding current affairs. I have gotten a few of these calls in my many years, but this is the first time that I have given an unfavorable answer regarding the current state of the nation. I was generally negative about most of the politicians that they asked about, along with immigration, inflation, supply chain, education and international affairs. I was able to give neutral scores to Covid and climate change. My only positive remarks were in relation to my financial security, which is the only thing that I control. Reflecting back on the conversation made me realize how poorly I am viewing things right now.

Thanks for the likes and comments regarding yesterday's post; Justin, Louis, Troy, Gary, Smudge, George, Rick, Tom, Karl, OB Ken, Guy, Curt, Mikey, Hughie, James.

Nothing special today Flo, just a handful of bacon and two eggs over easy with the usual OJ.

A bit chilly out in the train shed yesterday, but I managed to do a bit of modeling before my hands got too cold. You may remember this Christmas gift I received last month.

I will be using it in the not really started scene next to the trailer camp grounds. Got the parts out and separated. I am sticking with the original color scheme on this kit.

There's quite an optical illusion in that picture! Those two walls on the bottom right are actually as long as the left and right sides of the base on the left.
And I was able to get the four walls assembled. Nothing hard so far.

That's it for now. As you can see, I haven't much room on the workbench with all of the other stuff on there; I really need to clear it up a bit.
I was going to start looking at positioning those detail parts into a scene and immediately decided to wait until I could do it in just a tee shirt; as there was too much risk of snagging stuff with my long sleeved sweatshirt.

Guy - Good to read that you're surviving the "dad again" situation.
Gary - Perhaps you could forward Christian's E-Mail address to Terry or Sherrel directly for them to look into the "spam" situation.
I do believe that you are correct about the lobsters.

Everybody have a great day and stay safe and warm.

Almost cold outside, 10f early this morning. If this keeps up I might have to get my coat.
I don't consider it to be cold until we hit single digits.
My hands don't agree with the rest of me. They need gloves below 40f.

Snow blower is ready. Should be interesting what actually comes.

I enjoyed the NFL playoffs yesterday. I like both Buffalo and Cincinnati. They are two well balanced teams.

Anybody think the Eagles, 49ers or the Steelers have a chance today? I doubt it, but I wouldn't be surprised by one or more upsets either. This has been one of the craziest NFL seasons I can remember.

Have a great day Everybody!

Welp... as much as I wanted the Rona ;) to get it over with, I believe Smudge was correct that it was a tummy bug. Possibly picked up from a shopping cart or door handle somewhere. I try to wipe those down, but you never know what's lurking. (the pizzas and cheese I ate are all in date).

I'm back to normal. Hit the asthma inhaler and got the chest to clear up.

After I discovered how popcorn oil and salt act as mortar for the dissolvable zinc melts, I won't be combining those again. Blech. Funny how it was the Ginger ale it messed with and not the diet Dr. Pepper.

Wife is still with MIL. Nothing new there. she still has two weeks before they go see the attorney about protecting assets in the twilight years. MIL is taking the opportunity to work through thirty+ years of financial records and shred+burn those very out of date. Wife is helping with looking up stuff online (Nope, that policy expired. Yep, we should go cash those savings bonds in, they're not earning anything this late...")

I've got four chapters left to edit. A bit of rewriting to tie up some loose ends I found (someone needs a chili-cheese dog in the UK). Then I have to start removing the pagan holiday decorations. Yuletide is officially over. My strategy of waiting on the wife to do it isn't working this year. ;) since she's staying with her mother.

Chili cheese dog's I've tried and a few other American Favourites T Bone steaks, Burritos etc. while I was in the States many eons ago. The one thing you guys have that I absolutely hated was Cheese in a spray can!!!!!!! Otherwise I'm sticking to Bratwurst or jagerschnitzel, mit pommes und mayo, danke. 🙂

Good Morning gang!!
13° degrees right now, under sunny skies in central Absurdistan. The weekend storm is still south of us, but heading this way. Should see snow by 3 p.m. If is stays all snow, the snow blower will be fine. If it mixes with rain or ice, the snow blower will struggle or jam up, in which case the 54 year old Cub Cadet will do nicely. In either case, I have to report to work in the morning, as does the wife. No days off for us! Meanwhile the woodstove has the basement at a nice 73°.
Enough and no more.
I finally threw in the towel this evening on installing sound systems in a friend's RS2 locos. Every single one of them has taken days and weeks to figure out how to squeeze all the components under the very small hood. Squeezing LEDs and resistors were it won't melt the shell. He keeps bringing a box full each time he visits. It really bungs up my efforts to keep up with my own projects as these sit for weeks or months at a time and I just don't have the desire to spend 4 or 5 hours at a time accomplishing nothing. I can't get to my own projects as his are bugging me to finish them. He's an older guy, in his 80s and just can't do this stuff himself. I spend hours on the phone with him when he's at home trying to figure out JMRI functions then it turns out it 's his laptop that's causing the problem. I've known him for some 40 years or so now.
I told him today I just can't do this anymore. I'm not accomplishing much with these things and it's really getting me bogged down.
Ken, I know the feeling. There for a while I was custom painting models and doing decoder installs for 2 friends of mine, and watching MY project list either stagnant or growing. Had to call it quits. Now I can work on my stuff, and it is feeling more like a hobby than a job.

Willie, nice barn, but they molded it in yellow?? 🤮 I'm afraid I'd have to change that. Most barns around here are red or white. The only yellow ones I have ever seen were barns belonging to the Hanover Shoe Company in southern PA.

By now the boat from China carrying the latest shipment of Bowser RS3 models has arrived in New York and the sea container is sitting on the dock. After sitting there a week or so it should be delivered to Montoursville PA to Bowser. Once they unpack, inspect and separate out the shipment, the Western Maryland Railway Historical Society (of which I am a member) will be driving up to get our shipment. Included in this is a WM road number only available through the WMRHS. I preordered mine over 3 years ago. With Loksound decoders installed, the oughta be nice runners! I can't wait!!

Friday I'm having the other 4 dental implants of the 8 done. I dred the procedure of drilling into my jawbone again and all the stiches to close up everything. Spending another $16K on this is not something I really don't want to do but if I want to chew my food properly it's what must be done. Good thing my wife and I had annuities going while we were still working otherwise how would I pay for all this? Who knew I would need all these replacement parts when I got old?

With all the snow warnings, Indiana is in the donut hole for the storms

Current forecast for our part of the midwest, naught point naught inches. that converts to naught centimeters. I double-checked.

And I made some bachelor food for dinner. If Sherrel wants to fly in, I've got another I can toss in the oven for him.
