I live in the Deep South, aka ”The Bible Belt”.
You have no idea how much trouble an old sailor’s mouth can get him into…
I’d be in trouble my dad used to twist nursery rhymes, or sing soldier ditties

hickory dickory dock
thr mouse went up the clock,
the clock struck one,
the mouse came down his bum was brown
and so was the cuckoo. s……

to wish I used to respond it didn’t rhyme until I realised what did rhyme, my mum would give him a look but say nothing.

He was a para so…..

They wiped him off the tarmac like a lump of strawberry jam,
thry wiped him off the tarmac like a lump of strawberry jam
and he ain’t gone jump no more

some of the extra lines were rather suspect

He wasn’t uncouth either, and my mother never swore blood and sand were her swear words. but the occasional old soldiers song left a lot to be desired.
I spent a lot of time with my dad as a kid, more likely to play Lego, usually designing houses, or Meccano or soldier toys than I was to pick up a doll, he taught me to ride my bike, he took me horse riding,he iced e up from school and I tagged after him at work after school, the guys in the offices were used to me trotting in. I might not have sworn lersay, and knew it wa SPRG to swear at people, but swearing in songs was not unusual in our house.
Perhaps it is why I like Dads Army so much

Good morning from weather confused So. Central Wisconsin. Supposely we will be east of the big white event scheduled for now in Iowa. I am ok with that but we got some freezing mist overnight and the roads supposely are tough to drive this morning. It’s called slow down folks and no tailgating. But the weather has become very localized as our driveway is completely dry. This is better then seasonal which means instead of 30’s today it would be high teens. We have officially at the Madison airport 8.2” of white stuff. We are 12 miles southwest of the airport and I am not sure we’ve received even 1/2 that.

Trains are on the horizon today. My Endocrinologist actually lives fairly close and her and her hubby came over for dinner last night. She has a theory about my many health concerns since 11/30/2021. My happy place is the train room even if I do nothing but sit and relax in there. All my lights in the room are 5000k daylight LEDs high make the room really bright. I miss the sun light as on Maui we had sun every day. She said look into those lights people use for February depression.

Breakfast is done so my day shall begin in earnest. Be safe

Just realised, that's a nifty toaster you have.

Well today was a good day overall.
Got the non-running Lionel GP9/7 (I have no idea which it is) up and running, in the process, fixed one problem and caused another, (it's on the other thread) but took me most of the day to do.
Got the Seaboard GP18 for less than1/3rd of asking price.
Took willie's advice, and ordered the new gears for it (under $19 inc, p&p)
Checked all the new Loco's that arrived, actually work.
Cleaned up my worktop, and found some stuff I've looking all week for.
Time for a mug of tea, methinks 🙂

Smudge, Lionel has lots of parts diagrams on their website. There are also many other sites and articles available online about repairing Lionel trains. It would be easier if you can find the item number 6-something. It does not have to be the same locomotive, just the same model.

I'm not sure but I think yours is a post-war locomotive 1945-1969 is the post war era.

Here is a Lionel MPC era GP7 1974 I think.

Thanks, I don't have the original box and I can't see any number on the model, is there somewhere specific I should be looking?

I'm beginning to think this may not be a Lionel, but it does have a GE motor so.........
I can find GP 7 & 9 on their website, but they all seem to have various controls under the chassis, I doubt if it helps either, that the interior of this bodyshell is darkish blue, so it's a repaint of something else.

Afternoon All,

Spent most the day in the train room getting a lot accomplished on the main office part of the build and I believe the 4 walls will be glued together tomorrow after "glass and blinds" are put in. The signage (copy paper) was sanded then put on the walls via transfer tape, then I run my finger nail along the wooden grooves to simulate being painted on. The first photo shows all the wall numbers in the build.

Jaz- Nice modeling.

Joe- Looking forward to a video when done. It also looks like you're making progress on the layout? Nice 1:1 photo. Locally if you go to a county sponsored testing/vaccine site it's free of charge. I believe there are 4 sites set up.

Gary- What are storm chips?

Troy- I hope you feel better soon, if not a "doc in the box" is appropriate if you don't want to go to a ER germ breeder.

Guy- It must be exhausting for you, but most likely wonderful. Great looking progress and great looking bridge shot.

Willie- Nice job on the details.

Is that an HO locomotive?
If it is this might help.

Oh! sorry, I thought the grill on top of your (I think) turntable was your toaster. 🙂 BBQ?
Ok I get it. The grill allows air circulation completely around my painted items. Rarely used as I am not sure it really works.

Yes, that is one of my 2 turntables. They were a 2-1 sale item a few years ago. Both turntables are extensively used, especially when weathering. I have been weathering many pieces of rolling stock the last 5 weeks
