I remember a few years ago a company I worked for had the contract to supply transport to take schoolkids who didn't live on base onto one of the USAAF bases.
One kid kept standing up while I was driving, in frustration at being distracted while driving I told the kid to "sit your arse down". Bloody hell the shit I got into for saying that to her, to me it's just english, mom and pop were from the deep south, need I say more.

Karl I hope Bud is feeling better. Eastern Animal Hospital is the best I know of, but very expensive. Its located off Eastern ave next to I95. I wish you well.

7pm is my normal bed time.

Thanks for reminding me to get the snow blower out.

We went to Pet+ER on Cromwell Bridge Road in Towson. Great Vets, but also expensive. But heck, he's one of the family, so we pay.

I live in the Deep South, aka ”The Bible Belt”.
You have no idea how much trouble an old sailor’s mouth can get him into…

Good morning all! Overcast and 31 heading for freezing fog and 39. Last day of vacation unfortunately. I had hoped I'd be somewhat looking forward to going back to work but must admit I am not.
Got the new laptop yesterday and it's pretty great. A few little things I'm gonna have to get used to, like the keyboard layout is a little different than my old one. No show stoppers though. Love the speed this thing has.
Nothing much else to report. Hope you all have a great day!

I'm driving a school bus. A kid was standing arguing with the kid behind him. I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention. Got called into office same day for a reprimand!

Good morning from weather confused So. Central Wisconsin. Supposely we will be east of the big white event scheduled for now in Iowa. I am ok with that but we got some freezing mist overnight and the roads supposely are tough to drive this morning. It’s called slow down folks and no tailgating. But the weather has become very localized as our driveway is completely dry. This is better then seasonal which means instead of 30’s today it would be high teens. We have officially at the Madison airport 8.2” of white stuff. We are 12 miles southwest of the airport and I am not sure we’ve received even 1/2 that.

Trains are on the horizon today. My Endocrinologist actually lives fairly close and her and her hubby came over for dinner last night. She has a theory about my many health concerns since 11/30/2021. My happy place is the train room even if I do nothing but sit and relax in there. All my lights in the room are 5000k daylight LEDs high make the room really bright. I miss the sun light as on Maui we had sun every day. She said look into those lights people use for February depression.

Breakfast is done so my day shall begin in earnest. Be safe

Don't worry, that will change in a day or two, when it updates itself, or as I call it "how to slow a laptop down, so old people can use it" 🤣

Good Morning All. Clear and 46°, headed up to 71° later on after 74° yesterday. Then tonight another severe norther blows in and the high tomorrow is only expected to be 39° with a low of 23° Sunday morning. Severe wind advisory tonight with 30+ mph north winds. Cold snap will be short-lived as it will go back up to the mid-50's Sunday. 70° by Tuesday before the next front on Thursday. Typical up and down winter so far this season.

There seemed to be a lot more empty shelves in the grocery store yesterday than usual. Not out of anything, just fewer brands available to choose from. Some things like Cheddar Cheese were only available in the 2 pound packages, but no one or half pound choices. I guess that due to our proximity to Mexico and South Texas, the produce department was fully stocked as was the fresh meats. Packaged lunch meats are not quite as plentiful (think Oscar Mayer), but I don't usually get a lot of that to begin with. Bacon though was plentiful and on sale - still higher in price than six months ago. Mask usage was pretty low except on employees. I suspect that everyone has resigned themselves to the fact that they're going to get Covid regardless of mask usage.

Wife's visit to the orthopedic surgeon was especially encouraging. At six weeks, her range of motion and other measurements are already at normal three month levels. I am helping her rehab by surreptitiously moving the cane to another room so she has to make some short treks without it. Don't think that I am being cruel, I didn't start doing that until I noticed that she was sometimes leaving it behind herself.

Thought that I was getting better, but late yesterday afternoon I was feeling a bit rough again after bringing in firewood and cleaning ashes out of the heater. Shortness of breath all day, but not too bad until evening, and this morning that's still with me. Covid tests are completely unavailable around here and there is a minimum ten hour wait at all three local emergency rooms.

Thanks for the comments and likes regarding yesterday's loads and the progress on the detail parts; Patrick, Smudge, James, Louis, OB Ken, Steve J, Hughie, Gary, Justin, Joe, Curt, Tom, Rick.

BLT and OJ this morning Francine.

Yesterday out in the train shed was a visual bust. While I did get a little more detail painting done, it really doesn't deserve a picture yet. Most of my time was spent inspecting and testing the recently laid spur trackage to the two industries to the north of the brewery. I assembled, painted and installed two Walther's track bumpers. I still need to install one more ground throw, but everything worked well with a variety of locos and rolling stock. I have only connected one of the four sets of feeders that I installed; the rest are ready just need connecting. I use terminal strips because I am not good at soldering. It was comforting to know that all worked so well without all of those other feeders being connected yet. I always consider multiple sets of feeders as cheap insurance against power losses. The next step there is to paint the rails and ties. I use a rattle-can of Model Master's Light Earth and just cover it all. Then immediately I wipe off the tops of the rails. Then ballasting and more ground cover. While I have to get on to the floor to connect the feeders, two sets are easily accessible without going under the layout. The last one will have to wait until I feel better.
Since I took no pictures yesterday, I will go to the archives and hopefully find something that is not a repeat.
How about Uncle Tony's Wholesale Meats? Sometimes referenced as four-fingered Tony's.

The laser-cut wood kit came from Bar Mills along with the boxes. All figures all except the lady shopping outside and the dog are hand-painted by me.

Tom O - Tie bundles are looking good. I admire how neat and organized your workbench is. I wish that I could discipline myself to be that orderly.
Patrick - Good to read that your wife is doing OK.
Ken (D&J) - Yep! Thomas is the most popular attraction at train shows around here as well. Most of the participating clubs don't even bother with switching any more as Thomas and continuous running are the top attractions. While I don't disdain Thomas, I don't own any of that equipment and have no intention of obtaining any.
Smudge -
Can someone explain to this dumb brit, how your postal system works.
I bought some K4 HO Northern Pacific decals, a few weeks back, from a company in Dayton Ohio cost was $8.22 inc.p+p (or about £6.00), paid the $8.22 received decals, no problem.
Looking for a different set, found the ones I want, Microscale freight cab decal, from a company in Pasco, Washington, cost is $9.00 or £6.58
PLUS $22.62 (£16.52) postage, how do companies manage to get such substantial differences in their postal rates?
You may have already read your answer, but many companies include "handling" which is a different term that they use that means that they are screwing you.
Louis - It's about time that they caught up with that stupid crooked b***h. She sure cost the taxpayers dearly with the Freddie Gray case.
Gary - Good choice for layout weights.

Looks like you guys in the northern and eastern regions of the country are in for some nasty weather coming up. Only cold here for a day.
Everybody stay safe and have a great weekend, three days for some.

And the winter weather advisory is now active....At least I no longer have to go out tomorrow as the boy got his oil changes rescheduled for this afternoon. So I'm running his cars to the oil changes, which does get me out of the house...

About 40 minutes left in my day.....I like Fridays....

Yep....Willie is right we got a doozie coming our way.....Snowmagedon 🤣 it should be between 6 and 12 inches here if the weatherman is even close but alas it may or may not happen. I will stick my head out on Sunday. Saturday it will drop to minus 10 yup -10 so I will be manning the wood for the fire all day and night to feed the belly of the beast so that it spits out the roaring flame! Tonight on the way home I will make a few stops for necessities just in case......like a case of my favorite beer and a few other cases of ya you get the picture. So ya I am on a case that needs attention. Something afoot my dear Watson! Truck is all gassed up so we are good there. Train room will get some work done too this weekend. May be able to post a few progress pictures.

Ya'll hunker down later!

Tom: For the last 39 and half years that I worked before my retirement, all my offices either had no windows or were in the lower level. It got s so bad that I had the IT camera guys put a CCTV monitor in my office with the channel set for the parking lot. It helped a little.

My current office is in the middle of the building with huge windows on the wall, feel like I am an aquarium exhibit…. “Check out the Chris, one of the office employee species, real beaut ain’t he?”…

Ordered bridge, not the one I wanted but was $40 cheaper and will most definitely work for what I want, probably better. Gonna have to kit bash a couple of my older bridges to get what I want for another area. Will make 3 bridge scenes, love a visually cool bridge scene…. Now, just have to hope my carpentry and modeling skills are up to the task lol

Good Morning Everyone....over cast and damp with the temperatures in the upper 20's. Sure glad that the winter storm is going to be west of Wisconsin. The forecast for the next game at Lambeau Field is colder than normal....Great!

Our main office in Chicago had most people in cubical offices and the floors looked like a prairie dog town. My office at Mayfair was nice and large, larger than most of the VP's offices at the HQ and when we had visitors our offices from the HQ and the corner office always got their attention due to their size.

Puppy sitting again for Riley. Cathy took her for a walk this morning and she is tired. She's in the kitchen right now and likes to sleep on a old bed spread, but her crate is her home when we are gone or when she needs to be under control. Sunday, during the football game and a fire, she will have the run of the living and dining room. That she loves.

Willie: I saw that sign on one of your buildings, "La Bosky's - Motorcycle Repairs". One of my oldest friends who I used ride motorcycles with has the nick name "Boski". I do signs on buildings and billboards for friends of mine.

Another day upstairs away from my model railroad room.

That's all for now....

Hi Dennis,

I have that exact loco, just finished painting it last fall. Layout is not ready to run it, however.

Nice to see it on someone elses bench!

Good morning from weather confused
Good morning Tom, from equally confused :D. Not for nothing, the more forecasting tools they get the worse their forecasts are.

Reminds me of when I was working for Amtrak in Philly. I was on the crew which handled the roadrailers. There was maybe 8" of snow /ice on the ground, and it was necessary to repetitively dig out switches. Between the move on #41 (outbound), and #40 (inbound), we hung out in the crew room. TV was generally tuned to the local news, and we were watching the forecaster explicitly state that Central Philadelphia escaped the snowfall, which was restricted to surrounding areas...I suppose the snow we were all working in, was a figment of our imagination, because the all knowing TV weatherman decided there was no snow fall in the City...

As Karl mentioned, we are threatened with...(either) a Nor'easter or Coastal Storm from Sunday evening through mid day Monday, accompanied by the usual winds...Being we are near the coast, we are supposed to have, (either), several inches of snow and ice, becoming rain, or all rain...depending on who you follow. NOAA Weather actually calls for Snow and rain, totaling 1" to 2", but doesn't specify if that is snowfall, before the rain, or rainfall....

Willie: I'm repeating myself, but that was a fantastic job you did on Uncle Tony's Butcher Shop...reminds me of Tommy Tomatoes of Staten Island fame. Used to have a branch in Freehold. Great fresh Italian bakery goods and old neighborhood quality takeout meals.

The Acme was busy but not crowded, most shelves were stocked. Only thing was a high volume of "white noise" in the background. Lots of people were masked, although some of the help were cheating...no overt chin diapers though.

Oh I agree, pissed in the UK has a completely different connotation to the US, as you know, and what is acceptable here ain't acceptable there, along with certain words and phrases, that outside the UK are meaningless, so I don't envy you trekking through the minefield of the english language, in what has become, essentially, the same language, but also a foreign one.
It can lead to some funny moments tho

Morning - 55F degrees and looking for 70F on the high side with mostly cloudy! Lots of clouds last few days without any moisture falling. This is supposed to be our rainy season; fortunately we are still ONE inch above normal in our count.
The SonIL is getting better after feeling horrible for 4-5 days - now, one of my two BrotherIL's has contracted the virus - both were Vaxxed without the booster. BIL sounded pretty bad when I talked briefly with him yesterday.
The Spousal Unit is back at her Mom's until Monday - she allowed that when this time is up - she will be home for about a month ... we will see ... I do not mind except I sort of tire of my own scratching in the kitchen. I do not mind doing the dishes and cleaning, but just don't like to cook! The Spousal Unit is such a wonderful cook - I would be lost without her - and in more ways than just that.

Enough rambling - I need to catch up on you all's posting?
I feel your pain.

Wife has been with her mother for three weeks or thereabouts.

Frozen pizzas and what I can make in the crockpot are my staples. A pot of chili in the crock is meals for a week. Intermix with frozen pizzas for one and burgers, and I'm good.
