Has someone hacked the forum? I'm getting shedloads of emails advertising for mortgages, windows, and various medical pharmaceuticals, plus a whole host of rubbish that until recently I never received before, all are from the US???
I am not experiencing such issues, did you accidentally look at one of the in-house adverts and got added to a mailing list? Look at the opt out options and see if they have a common link then opt out ‘ unsubscribe, it could help you work out where they came from too.

I always feel sad when someone dies, older than us may be natural but it is a sad 😔 thing to happen,my mum never made 60 that’s not fair, a sibling older or younger makes us feel vulnerable, so sadness and sone angst, losing a child is the hardest, even a miscarriage can be upsetting and scary - not something I have experienced, loss of a child has been known to brake marriages, having a church for support can help one to cope, and the hope of seeing a loved one sometime in the future - hopefully the distant future, my dad expressed the fact not long before he died that he was comforted by the fact that he expected to see my mum again and be reunited, some people may scoff and I am not a church goer but believe in the fundamentals of how to treat others and the church after school I did was highly enjoyable I remember seeing a film about Jesus and easter 🐣 and my mum was ill in hospital at the time, she lived a good few years after, but had a bad heart, but it (the idea of a life after death) was comforting and I honestly wish I bought more into the whole ten yards because faith carries with it a lot of acceptance and coping, I also believe in the teaching of it,and am happy for my family who do,and for the kids to learn as well. If in the future I am ever drawn back to that belief I would be more than happy as I believe it sets us on a decent path.
As an aside a n old school friend of mine is Hindu, they believe in multiple gods and faiths, even at the same time, her family’s ethos was a kind one,so they have no angst with my beliefs, as a curious person I was also known to enquire about which God she liked, and as it turned out she thought Jesus existed but her favourite was an Elephant god.

Good morning It's clear and 29.
Some of you may recall a post I made about one of the higher-ups in the company singling me out for not wearing a mask (outdoors, not around any other people). That higher-up dressed me down about it where others employees and customers could hear and see, and some of them (not me) duly reported the incident. That person is no longer an employee of the company. I'm sure this incident was not the only thing he had going for him to force his removal--at least I hope not, if it was, I'm not sure about anybody's job security here.

Good morning all. A lovely 4 degrees at the moment heading for sunny and 19 for the day. Last day to work before a sorely needed 7 day vacation. The last couple weeks at work have been more aggravating than usual and it's good I'll have some time away.

The Accurail boxcar I ordered should be here Saturday so I'm hoping to get started on it over my vacation. I have another gondola kit I want to do to. Can't remember the manufacturer on that one at the moment.

Hope you all have a great day!

Just a little early for me to be vertical! 42F looking for 65F later and partly cloudy is the forecast.

I did not get the firewood unloaded yesterday. The Spousal Unit had other ideas such as general house cleaning and taking down Christmas! There is still more to do and I have lost track of just how many "boxes" of stuff there is.
I was tired enough that I fell asleep at 8:30pm - and that is why I am awake now.
I know that this will be a disastrous day as far as doing much at all. Maybe in an hour or two that I will feel like sleeping a little more. If not - them I am going to blame TomO for my ailment - LOL.

The Spousal is on MIL duty until Monday noon, so it is just me and the pups here; however, I am sure that she will txt over orders! The pups got up and came down with me, but they have now crashed at my feet. Time to fire up the Keurig!

Morning all,

10° this cold morning going for a sunny high of 32° later today.

Flo, give am a cuppa and a ham and cheese omelet with a side of Christian's roast Dragon. Sounds interesting. Thanks!

Alcomotive: Thanks for sharing that video. My parents lived about 45 miles northwest of where that video was taken, before dad passed a year ago and then we moved mom back to Kansas. I think there's a lot of beautiful country up there, but I'm getting to where I don't like the white stuff. even the about 3/4" we got in the past 24 hours here was too much.

Gotta start looking at a different menu as the cardiologist wants a bunch of stuff we usually cook, cut from the wife's diet. In truth, probably won't hurt me either.

Hopefully some trains this afternoon....

Good Morning gang

Woke up to about 3-4 inches of that white fluffy stuff this morning. Very dry, could have cleaned the truck off with a leaf blower if I wanted too. cleared off the windshield and as soon as I got to 40 mph it was all cleared off ! It's breezy out there now, as I sit and drink my coffee and bask in the sunshine and wait for the rest of the crew to arrive. Snow may slow down the shop, but it rarely ever stops it.

Train wise tomorrow I plan on building a false wall to back up the workbench in its new location. Should be fun, but worth the effort.

Finally warmed up today enough (41F) to start melting the ice and snow from our last storm here in Grand Junction USA. Hopefully I can get out to the MRR barn in a few days for an op session with my local crew.
I painted detailed and weathered all the locos and rolling stock in this image. That DD35 was kitbashed and scratched from 2, Athearn RTR GP 35 shells and an ancient highly modified Athearn BB, DD35 frame with milled and detailed trucks. Photo is a bit out of focus maybe but it shows them at work. GP35's were kinda overtaxed as far as the prime movers were concerned and had electrical issues, hence the smoky view here. There is like $25.00 worth of PSC brass stantions on that DD 35 alone.

Thanks for stopping by.

This here is awesomeness! Nice job!

Here is something I would like to share this morning. Currently I am getting ready to lay some track for mainline #1 and yard ladder track #1 with Micro Engineering switches. I have all the materials and cork bed and sheets of cork etc. I started to look at my options for "ballast". Recently I was having a conversation with a fellow model railroader about ballast. The conversation turned to a product that I have never thought to use.

"Polymeric sand" Has anyone here tried this? It's seems to me this may be the way to go. Cost effective and it adheres to to the surface you put it on by just using a spray/mist bottle of water. The person I was talking to showed me some of his work and it turned out great. I was trying to find anything negative about it? Anyone have thoughts on the matter? It comes in a range of colors. It reminds me of "tile grout" but no dust and although it does harden with water it is light weight for this application and can be broken up easily if need be. It is very cheap as well 25 bucks for 40lbs of material.

I will sit back and see what ya'll think.....

Good Morning All. Clear and 17° on this frigid morning. The good news is that it will soon be 45°, ten degrees warmer than yesterday. Tomorrow 60° but with a chance of rain in the morning.

First of all, I wish to thank everyone for the condolences and kind thoughts regarding the passing of my youngest brother. In general, I don't like going to funerals, but I especially dislike going to ones for folks younger than me. However we all knew that this was coming and the whole family has had six months to prepare. The memories will live forever. He started in life behind due to an undetected strangulation in the womb by the umbilical cord, and he had an involuntary speech defect his whole life because of that. That didn't keep him from earning a BS in finance and eventually headed up the parish's day care facilities. Along the way, he also took care of our aging parents. Side-note; he lived all of his 59 years in the same home. Same address and same landline number! Made it easy for the rest of us to remember.

I managed to make the grocery trek yesterday without incident. Yes, some prices were higher than last week. It appeared that mask wearing was up a bit, probably 65% or so. Most of the unmasked were older folks. Drivers on the road were incredibly bad yesterday, especially those who were eating behind the wheel at 70 mph.

Epiphany yesterday so we took down the meager Christmas decorations.

Thanks for the likes and comments regarding the layout progress yesterday; Karl, James, Patrick, Guy, Christian, Tom O, Dave, Gary, Hughie, Moermusic, Smudge, Joe, Curt, OB Ken, Tom, Louis, Justin, Rick, Jaz, Tom H.

I'll take some of that dragon meat this morning Flo. Add two over easy eggs to it.

It was cold out in the train shed yesterday, just a bit too cold for any modeling work with my sweatshirt on. So I tidied up a bit. I still snagged a vehicle with the sleeve, but no damage done. At best the heaters will keep it about 20° warmer than the outside temperature. I really need to get another one since I have spare amperage to use it on.

Mikey - I don't strive for contest quality or perfection either. I strive to please me. Good enough is for anything not in the foreground although I do sometimes get carried away even when the details are on the backside.
Chad - It seems that your business news is positive like the three buyouts that my company experienced in the 43 years that I was with them.
Justin - I like the second plan better because it doesn't have a duckunder.
Tom H - For painting figures, I use a 4/0 brush, unknown manufacturer, and a variety of paints. My favorites are Polly Scale, Model Master and Testor's enamels. But I also use a large variety of craft paints that I cannot remember right now.
James - That video just reminds me why I live in the south where there isn't snow on the ground for four months.
Terry - Maybe things at work are really improving! Better, less expensive insurance, raise, unappreciative higher-ups leaving. Might just be worth hanging out a bit despite the extended hours.

Everybody have a great day. Stay safe.

Very good choice guys. Hope you've enjoyed your breakfast. Right now, all my dragons are in the Running Bear Coffee Shop freezers. So you never can see dragons in my photos again. Tragic story isn't it ?🤪😜😢

Good morning,

It is currently -30F in East Central Minnesota. Car thermometer showed -34 while driving in to work.

Tomorrow is the big day, table top going into the house, then the real fun begins.

McLeod - I know you have it colder, but this is cold enough for me

Here is how it looked Monday when I got most of the cutting and screwing done:

IMG_1870.JPG

It was really easy in putting this together, the snow is clean and there was no dust. I am going to frame in a cutout for the Wyoming depot. All the modules will be set about 1" above the waferboard so I can go down some for added landscape relief.

Happy modelling,

Dave LASM

Willie, I could not agree more. It is sad that the world has lost a man like that, but I believe you are doing the right thing to show gratitude that your family and his community was blessed to have him among you.

I think that way of thinking applies to all aspects of life. Celebrate the positive rather than dwell on the negative.

Agreed.

Our neighbors growing up were Italians from Jersey who had relocated to Mass (where I grew up age 10+). They said that their Catholic Italian funerals were always fun parties with eating and music and stuff, celebrating the person who had passed and remembering them, and as a way for the family to reconnect. Until the mafia guys would show up to pay their respects. Then it got somber, and quiet. Once they were gone, it went back to the joyful celebration...
