Just found this very funny layout. 😍 I think that I can build a layout like this one someday.

A few pics.🤣🤣🤣

Good morning gang and happy 1st hump day of the new year!! 🐪🐫🐪🐫🐪🐫
I'll be on high alert for any wayward camels. 😉😁

Meanwhile I will be doing battle with Verizon and UPS again today. UPS wont deliver my new phone without my signature, and wont redirect it to the Ups store across the street from my work without Verizons approval. They say I can pick it up at the hub, but that is an hour away. I'd rather get a root canal and a colonoscopy simultaneously than deal with Verizon. The ONLY reason I stay with them is reception where I live. Sprint, tmobile, at&t all suck out here in the sticks.
I'm close to telling them where they can deliver that phone!! 😡
BBL
Why wont they deliver it to your office?

for those of us worrying about the numbers right now, I suggest following Dr Nurse-educator John Campbell PhD. He's doing well with the science and the data combined. Yes, we need to be cautious, but we should be optimistic.

His channel on youtube here. The last two vids he posted are well worth watching when you have 20ish minutes.
I guess I'm not a big worrier about it. Neither is my wife. We got all the shots. I hate wearing the masks because I know there pretty much useless but we live in NY so I have to do what they do in NY. I wish we lived in FL. My best friend's son gave up his RR conductors job and moved out of here. My brother moved out of here. Just about every friend I have wants to move out of NY and head south.

Morning fellers. Thanks for all the condolences. Last year was brute for me. Hopefully this year won't be a repeat. Expecting snow starting tomorrow going in to Friday. I find myself back at the drawing board. Planning my next build. Now I have some concerns going in to this. I plan on doing L girder bench work on my next layout. Does anyone know the likelihood of it warping? The days of the sacred sheet are done. I haven't planned on my next build being a sacred sheet. My head hurts just thinking about another 4x8 layout! I have the tools and the means to finally move past the sacred sheet. I don't have the desire to deal with a 4x8s limitations. Now some of you may remember a plan I shared a few years back. Not the track plan itself as I won't be using the track plan. Just the base.

The doughnut is back!!! Except this time I refuse to settle on a 4x8. Last time I settled and found myself frying braincells on how to make everything fit. Even then I wasn't happy with the results. This is the base I want to construct. I keep it small yet flexible and can be expanded by pulling the two sides apart. Lose a foot in length to gain two feet in width. With an open middle it'll take up a smaller footprint than my sacred sheet I have now. So that's where I'm at. Hope everyone is doing well and I'll stop by again when I get a chance.

Good Morning!

It's -24F and feels like -40 due to the wind. The winds are drifting things up, so all the show shoveling has to be redone. And it's not getting warmer; the temperature is supposed to drop to -38F today. I'll be glad when this storm is passed.

Got the 3rd shot yesterday with not to much trouble. They gave me 2 packages of rapid test kits for free. I plan on using the contents in my evil laboratory, for modeling purposes.

My DIL's mother is dying of cancer. She lives 1000 miles away, and I've never met her. None-the-less, the DIL is going for a last visit, leaving me to care for the 4 young grandkids. So, I'll be busy for the next couple of weeks, and might not be in for coffee. - Back to being dad for awhile.

Sorry, no photos today! Perhaps when I come back.

Have a good one!

Good Morning All. Clear and 36°, headed to 56 today before another severe cold spell tomorrow. Crazy up and down weather for the next ten days after that. No snow though! :)

Thanks for all of the Birthday well wishes, funny that I don't feel any older. And thanks also for all of the likes on my posts, even without the pictures.

START OF RANT: OK, I am beginning to be rather bored with all of the Omicron BS. Every expert has a different opinion, government paid experts are waffling all over the place and the President has punted. The VP who famously said that she couldn't trust anything developed under Operation Warp Speed has had all three jabs that were developed! It has gotten ridiculous Testing does nothing except to tell if you have it, doesn't fix anything and I am still looking in the mail for my free at-home test kit that was promised months ago. I do truly feel sad for anyone affected, but my family's recent experience with Omicron points out that we should be more worried about the flu. I'll still use common sense with social distancing and the mask, and have received all of the shots. RANT OVER.

OK, I made it out to the train shed yesterday for the longest time frame in the last four months. Thank the Lord for my wife's recovery!
I was able to paint the parking/loading area at the new DPM generic structure. Still haven't figured out what type of industry/warehouse it will be yet. Then I added some additional ground cover to the non-paved areas. Photos tomorrow after the glue/water dries and it doesn't shine so much.
Here are pictures of the Christmas booty that I received at the much delayed Christmas festival that our family had Monday.

I see that one of my daughters took items off my Amazon Christmas list and went to the LHS to get them at a 20% off MSRP instead. Good for her. The 100 painted figures in the last picture was much improved from the previous package of 100 Chinese figures that I received two years ago. There's 19 poses and very little duplication in colors.

Still a lot of these ladies.

Unfortunately their quality control hasn't improved much.

Most can be easily fixed, but there are colors on some that will be hard to match.

OB Ken - An Accurail kit is a good kit to keep your patience at bay. I really like all of their kits, even the newer more complex ones.
Tom - Include me in the list of folks who use chart tape for tie-downs. I also use the white and yellow for road striping.
Guy - I have found that the roofing felt fades to an anthracite color pretty quickly under fluorescent lights, so I do not paint it.
James - Thankfully for me, I don't have to deal with the winter kit in the car. Besides living in an area that rarely sees really severe winter weather, I also pay attention to the weather forecast (despite the NWS poor record) and I know better than to get out.
Karl - Likewise here on the Moderna shots. First two didn't bother me at all, but the booster knocked me on my ass for half of the following day. A real shame since it was a beautiful day outside.
Sherrel -

Who wouldn't miss home after moving to CA!
Tom O - I always kinda liked that artwork back to the time you first posted it.
Jaz - Thanks a lot, but I am not a big sweets eater at all.
Troy - I have occasionally added carrots to corned beef hash, but I like it better without them.
George -

That used to be my goal, but lately it's been catching up on posts on this forum!!!😍😍😍

Everybody have a great hump day. Stay safe.

Might I suggest when you play the next Lotto ticket......use the weather temps for the week! 🤣😂🤣;)

I think I may try that .....

Monday Low of 7 High 18
Tuesday Low of 10 High 27
Wednesday Low of 23 High 34

Boris, I don't want anyone to take me too seriously, to the point of me upsetting them or hurting their feelings.

For me the internet can be like people talking behind my back. That is for those who would speak poorly of me. I've learned to just ignore them.

I let a former forum member upset me years ago. I reacted harshly and later felt stupid about my reaction.

Personally I would never say anything online that I would not say to a person's face. On the other hand I have a tendency to be blunt.

Bottom line: I don't want or intend to hurt anyone's feelings.

Good morning guys,

3 above zero and light snow. Sounds like our temps are here and colder for a few days. Brrrrrrr

Lots of stuff going on, Willie happy birthday! I remember one of my old birthdays when I got the Santa Fe loco. Parents purchased it at the hobby shop at Har Mar Mall in St. Paul (Maplewood). Gave it away a few years ago on the forum!

Here is another view of the same loco posted yesterday, this one on the old layout:

Keep warm...

Actually, I had been looking at an ad on facebook not long before for that repair, but figured there must be somewhere nearer to you that you could find. Hence the short answer. Christmas was quiet, just at home. Daughter in law that we usually go to had taken the advantage to go down to New South Wales to visit her sister while the state borders were open.
Now that I think of it I have even seen mobile trucks that do wheel repairs. I'll add it to the to-do list, but probably won't do anything until I sell it. Thanks again!

Steel wheels are easy, a hammer is usually all you need. I don't even know what these wheels are made of, but I do like them I've put over 42,000 miles on this 2020 Chevrolet Equinox and I love it!

I'd still be retired if not for the high cost of health care.
I had a low cost supplement insurance plan to go with our Medicare and it was fine until I had 20 minute operation that cost $40,000.00. I had to pay $4,000.00 of the 40K. Then I thought maybe I should just go ahead a buy the best plan in case I or my wife has a 500K operation costing me 50K. So now we're paying 13K a year for supplements to go along with our Medicare. At 52 years old I had a plan of paying off everything we owed the house, cars etc in 10 years so I could retire at 62. It worked and I retired at 62 1/2. You have to have some kind of plan and stick to it. No charging anything that's if you want to retire.

A couple of random thoughts:

T-Mobile, I have 4 lines, I use it all over Maryland, southern Pennsylvania, western Delaware and northern Virginia. I have not gone much into the Eastern Shore, just a few miles across the bay bridge. There are a few areas where I have lost service, but not much. It seems to be even better after the merger or buy out of Sprint. My daughters both have Verizon and they seem to have more service problems then me. This is completely unscientific, your results may vary.
I love T-Mobile and thanks to Terry for telling me about the 55 and over plan I have much cheaper cell phone service than my kids!
I got the T-Mobile 5G home internet, but I have not yet connected it. Like many things, I pay for it to sit in the box.

Santa Fe locomotives: I have one. Years ago before I got my first Lionel set I always, over 20 years had HO trains under my Christmas tree. When my oldest daughter was very young I worked part-time during the Christmas season at Toys r Us putting together bikes and other toys. One Christmas Eve, before I went to work, my Life-Like Chessie\B&O GP38 stopped working! The only locomotive they had at Toys r Us was a Santa Fe red and silver diesel. That one and only Christmas I had a Santa Fe locomotive under my tree Christmas day.
About 10 years ago I asked my oldest daughter if she remembered those HO trains running under the Christmas tree. She said I remember a red and silver one.

I warned you this was random.
