I'm close to telling them where they can deliver that phone!!
Good morning everyone.....Its unbelievable the lack of common sense out there today and in some places the lack of customer service.

A nice mild morning here in Halifax this morning, enjoying my coffee with some rolls and peanut butter. Finished the holiday leftovers now except for a few sweets....back to normal again.

Good morning friends! 36 and breezy heading down (unfortunately) to breezy and 33 for the day. Got a feeling it's going to be another rough day at work. Hoping for the best, but we'll see.

I was ultra tired when I got home again last night, but I did spend a little time running my Illinois Central GP38 and Penn Central GP40 in consist pulling a nice long train on my temporary floor layout. Interchanged some cars with an Indiana Railroad CF7 on the passing siding and ran around a little bit more before before getting tired and calling it a night.

Not sure how or when, but I'm eventually gonna have a layout that's actually on a platform and not on the floor. Having a lot of fun as it is and know it would be so much better if I could improve on it. I can say I am impressed with the effect Ox-Gard had on the quality of run on those old EZ track rails. I couldn't get a locomotive to run but a few inches before it would stutter or stop completely when I first put the layout together due to the old cruddy rails. Adding a thin layer of Ox-Gard (No-Ox) to the rail helped tremendously. Still have an occasional short stutter but not enough to be a big problem.

I did uncover a problem with one of my MTH Indiana Railroad GP38-2's. The one that came without DCC that I added a Digitrax decoder to is running great. The other one came with DCC which you can use or switch to the MTH DCS instead and has sound. It won't power up at all sometimes and if I try again in a different spot on the track it might start and move an inch or two and then goes silent again. Wondering if I'm not getting enough power into the track to run it. Would be nice to have a booster. More testing will hopefully determine the problem.

Ok, that's enough from me. Hope you all have a great day!

Unfortunately I watched the BBC news last night, and wished I hadn't, ONE million Covid/Omnicron infections reported in the US in ONE day making it top of the list of Countries, wow!!
That's mainly because far too many of us refuse to be smart and do what it takes to help prevent catching/spreading it. I saw a customer at work yesterday take off his mask to cough. He was coughing really hard right ahead into the air. After that, he put his mask back on.

WT**** Really, and no one said anything to them? There's an old American movie called Annie Get Your Gun, you get my drift?

Good morning from chilled and windy Wisconsin. Sideways falling snow is the prediction for after 9am this morning. The TV weather guy last night said it’s not going to be nice once the snow starts. Depending on where you are he said 1” in our area and up to 5” elsewhere. The winds already gusting into the 30’s will make it very tough outside.

The “O” variant has our county scared. Dane County Wisconsin has the greatest number of fully vaccinated folks in the state. It also has the highest number of boostered folks. Emerency surgeries only at the 3 local hospitals due to burn out and bed shortages. I find this number enlightening. 95% of newly admitted patients have the O variant. Of those admitted less then 15% have ANY vaccine shots. Even the skeptics and doubters among us

can’t challenge that

Good morning from SUNNY Florida. We have had great weather this past year. Yes we had some HOT days in the later part if the summer, but generally our averages into the fall and the winter have been above average. I'm in northern FL (St Augustine) and we seem to be able to avoid the little bit of nastiness that occurs just to the north of us (Jacksonville and south Georgia). Then some rainy-ness goes south of us.

So I feel pretty lucky with my location. The one big negative is the current growth in population around here. ...its exploding. TOO MANY folks moving in here, and TOO MUCH TRAFFIC.

I am glad to be older and not needing to get on the road everyday,...just spend more time working on the RR,...now I have got to get out of a temporary slump and get more track laying done...ha..ha

for those of us worrying about the numbers right now, I suggest following Dr Nurse-educator John Campbell PhD. He's doing well with the science and the data combined. Yes, we need to be cautious, but we should be optimistic.

His channel on youtube here. The last two vids he posted are well worth watching when you have 20ish minutes.

Verizon's arrogance dates back to before the AT&T breakup. They are Ma Bell, and They know best. Karl is right, they do offer the best service in the Northeast, but dealing with them is difficult.

IBKen: Hope things work out for your daughter...
As an employee I would never be allowed to say something to a customer about something like that. I would literally be fired

Ken in IL: You're right. Your employer would not tolerate that.

According to my favorite NY Times writer, it's called "Bad News Bias". They run with raw data, without fact checking, because it sells or attracts ratings. Good news is fact checked with caveats because news can't possibly be good... Omicron is highly contagious, especially among those who are unvaccinated, but according to a recently released study, is less dangerous to the high risk population, the Annual Flu causes more deaths. But look at all the panic the reporting has caused. So called Breakthrough cases number less than 5% of the vaccinated...per the CDC.

It's probably three times that number when you add in those who had unreported positive home tests and the asymptomatic folks who aren't testing.

Not for nothing, in a normal world, no one would seek out a test, or go to a doctor, if they did not have symptoms...what is different is the insistence that everyone be tested, not only from government worker bees collecting data, but from politicians and news media and private sector Risk Managers, who do not want to explain repercussions. I was tested twice in 20 months, once pre-op, second when actually showing symptoms...I was negative twice .
Highly unlikely that I would have it and not show symptoms... Once the government stops paying for all this testing, and the costs fall on insurers and corporations, suddenly, it won't be necessary, unless you display severe symptoms. So, I go about my day, avoiding places that "require" proof of vaccination, or mandate testing. I also have all my shots and booster, and anticipate a second booster in a few months, and dutifully wear my mask with additional internal liner...

Truthfully, I'm tiring of all the BS this "Pandemic" has caused. Business has made out, decreasing employees and inventory, while raising prices...looks good on quarterly reports and causes the stock price to go up...a two edged sword for most of us, eh? Americans generally don't like someone telling us what to do or when to do it...This, more than anything, accounts for why so many people have resisted getting the shots. However, it raises the risk that the non immunized will become ill.

WELP, as TROY says: We have T-Mobile, or whatever name they have now, but service is not as good as Verizon (we had for years and years - might go back even with the added cost!

Morning rail spikers! 38f degrees looking for 70f later under sunny skies. The Spousal Unit has been keeping me busy with chores including getting to the recycle place for $55.74 worth of mostly plastic. Also repacking Christmas Decor and other stuff. We have very little cans since mostly giving up on soda. Todays mission is to find paperwork to renue Passport - drat - I have to go to P.O. - can't just mail it in.
Other mission is smog check the P/U and find a woodlot for firewood. I realize that I mentioned most all of this a few days back, but a couple days I just did not feel like doing anything except looking at old MR's and Hard cover RR books (I have many).

Really tired of Covid BS ..just awaiting on the next model to appear?

FLO - off my soapbox for awhile - A breakfast steak with eggs up, home fries and sourdough muffins all smothered with MEL's fresh gravy - I'll just have water to drink!

IBKEN - Sure hope the family is OK! That was some ordeal that you and the Mrs. had to endure?
That Geep you posted pic sure looks nice.

JAZ - Thanks for that link - It's burned into my mind - I think I will order a couple for WILLIE to use in his pool!

Good Morning All. Clear and 36°, headed to 56 today before another severe cold spell tomorrow. Crazy up and down weather for the next ten days after that. No snow though! :)

Thanks for all of the Birthday well wishes, funny that I don't feel any older. And thanks also for all of the likes on my posts, even without the pictures.

START OF RANT: OK, I am beginning to be rather bored with all of the Omicron BS. Every expert has a different opinion, government paid experts are waffling all over the place and the President has punted. The VP who famously said that she couldn't trust anything developed under Operation Warp Speed has had all three jabs that were developed! It has gotten ridiculous Testing does nothing except to tell if you have it, doesn't fix anything and I am still looking in the mail for my free at-home test kit that was promised months ago. I do truly feel sad for anyone affected, but my family's recent experience with Omicron points out that we should be more worried about the flu. I'll still use common sense with social distancing and the mask, and have received all of the shots. RANT OVER.

OK, I made it out to the train shed yesterday for the longest time frame in the last four months. Thank the Lord for my wife's recovery!
I was able to paint the parking/loading area at the new DPM generic structure. Still haven't figured out what type of industry/warehouse it will be yet. Then I added some additional ground cover to the non-paved areas. Photos tomorrow after the glue/water dries and it doesn't shine so much.
Here are pictures of the Christmas booty that I received at the much delayed Christmas festival that our family had Monday.

I see that one of my daughters took items off my Amazon Christmas list and went to the LHS to get them at a 20% off MSRP instead. Good for her. The 100 painted figures in the last picture was much improved from the previous package of 100 Chinese figures that I received two years ago. There's 19 poses and very little duplication in colors.

Still a lot of these ladies.

Unfortunately their quality control hasn't improved much.

Most can be easily fixed, but there are colors on some that will be hard to match.

OB Ken - An Accurail kit is a good kit to keep your patience at bay. I really like all of their kits, even the newer more complex ones.
Tom - Include me in the list of folks who use chart tape for tie-downs. I also use the white and yellow for road striping.
Guy - I have found that the roofing felt fades to an anthracite color pretty quickly under fluorescent lights, so I do not paint it.
James - Thankfully for me, I don't have to deal with the winter kit in the car. Besides living in an area that rarely sees really severe winter weather, I also pay attention to the weather forecast (despite the NWS poor record) and I know better than to get out.
Karl - Likewise here on the Moderna shots. First two didn't bother me at all, but the booster knocked me on my ass for half of the following day. A real shame since it was a beautiful day outside.
Sherrel -
He just missed home and wanted to go back there - I had moved him to CA with us
Who wouldn't miss home after moving to CA!
Tom O - I always kinda liked that artwork back to the time you first posted it.
Jaz - Thanks a lot, but I am not a big sweets eater at all.
Troy - I have occasionally added carrots to corned beef hash, but I like it better without them.
George -
This is why I love being retired. I don't have to worry about bosses or customers or anything else. My main goal when I wake up in the morning is figuring out what we're having for breakfast period nothing else.
That used to be my goal, but lately it's been catching up on posts on this forum!!!😍😍😍

Everybody have a great hump day. Stay safe.
