Hello Happy Fellow modelers !
By popular request I'm back on the track but only as a reader. I don't have a layout and probably never will. Just a small test track for watching my trains rolling through. So I'll never post the photos of my oval test track again.
I don't want to bother you again with it.
Now it's up to you. Don't be too cruel. And...fire at will !
Welcome back, I'm so glad to see your post! 😁

At present I don't even have a layout, except for my Lionel Polar Express under our Christmas tree.

When I have had layouts they were nothing more than tracks and trains running on ovals with a few pre-built buildings and accessories.

I enjoyed all of your posts, don't hold out on me!

Good afternoon gang!

Sunday went to get my Covid booster shot (Moderna) The first two never bothered me. This one kicked my tush yesterday. About 24 hours after the shot I felt feverish with a headache at work, and fatigued. Got home after work, ate some fish and chips, then went to bed by 7 p.m. Woke up at 2:30 am in a sweat, peed, drank water and went right back to sleep, then slept through my alarm and didn't wake up til #4 son's alarm went off (which he never hears). All good now.

Sunday also Daughter , SIL and grandkids all got back from Dollywood and Daughter and SIL have tested positive for Covid. She has been vaccinated, SIL not. My worry is the little ones, 5 and 7 years old. Grammy is PO'ed over the situation because a) she never wanted them to go in the 1st place and risk infection and b) there is nothing she can do to help without risking it herself. It really sucks because they live 2.1 miles from us.

Christian Welcome back!

Willie, Happy Birthday!!! You same the same date with #3 son, he turns 26 today

Dave. Red Green is my hero!

Afternoon All,

Got started on the REA Tichy window frames today. I started out by spraying them with Rustoleum kahki to simulate wood, then sponged on the red color (Tamiya flat red with flat black added to it) and then applied 2 coats of A&I. I also sorted the different sizes of stick wood. I plan on applying A&I to those tomorrow and work on the metal castings. There's a lot of fiber doors which I'll do as I come to them. I don't want to work on the walls until after the layout electrical work on Friday so I can spread out.

Willie- HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Mikey- It looks like a quality layout.

Christian- Welcome back.

Karl- I just noticed that you have Red-Green as a avatar. 👍

Jaz- My eyes are burning. Thanks for a image burned into my brain.

Troy- I hope all works out with your MIL. When I first saw your shields I thought they were used Dremel sanding discs...oops. LOL.

Chad- Are you planning on building the entire house or just different parts of it?

James- Thank you for the info. I don't have decoder pro so I have to do some investigating. I never knew this was possible.

Tom- Really nice loads.

Hughie- Wanda's continues to look good. Nice scene.

Dave- Interesting point of view in your photo.

Guy- I use the thin "For Sale" styrene signs for mine. After cutting out I spray paint them.

I hope everyone has a good night.

DARN, LOUIS, Couldn't you have found Willie a Santa Fe pic?
Like he doesn't have hardly any S'Fe at all?

BTW - did you receive my baseball pic I sent?

You would love my Son In Law - He must have 10,000 BB cards going back many years!
A gift from an older Uncle of his.
I could not find one and I like CSX 😁
No I did not receive the picture, where did you send it, I want to see it!
I had about that many baseball cards, but I gave some to my nephew. I still have several thousand and I would never part with the ones the man who raised me bought for me. One of my happiest memories is opening those packs and telling him who we got as we walked home. "We got Frank Robinson!"
If only a Nickel could buy that much joy these days.

Chad- Are you planning on building the entire house or just different parts of it?

Just different parts.

We (me and the boy and family and neighbor volunteers and others I can rope in) are doing the
• ICF external shell (minus the concrete pours -- that will be hired out)
• the heated floor tube laying
• installing the heated floor manifolds etc
• installing the Zehnder ventilation system
• installing the water conditioning/filtering stuff
• laying the LVP flooring
• hanging cabinets
• misc small DIY type things
• maybe some internal painting in basement

To be hired out (most of this has contractors already in line):

• internal framing including floor and roof structure
• pre-cast slab
• finished flat concrete
• gypcrete on main floor
• most painting
• plumbing
• electrical
• siding
• roof

I have a local home builder (friend of family) who is helping (for a fee) and running the disbursements/paying people and has assigned a super to the job to help me oversee things.

Grin! Yep. He needs to stick around here. We like him.

And, would a couple of the admins send him your email addresses? That way if the dragons eat his computer again, you can reset his password. and he doesn't have to make a new login.
I like your style, TROY!
Really wish you good health and luck dealing with the MIL.
I had some of the same with my father after mom passed. He just missed home and wanted to go back there - I had moved him to CA with us.

P.S. I thought those orange things were some sort of mushrooms you were trying to grow?

A lot of history in the movie "Cars". If you ever see "Mater and the Ghost Light" it is about an actual "Ghost Light" near Baxter Springs Kansas. The truck that became Mater is on a section of the old highway in the same town. We don't have much of route 66 in Kansas, but we have a bunch of history on it...

One of my many bucket list items is to complete the route from Carthage MO to the western end. I have run much of it from Carthage to Chicago over the years.
