Mike, how can you in this day and age forget your phone? Don’t you need it to use Maps or Wayz or Carmin to tell you how to cross the street!!!
Truly that maybe one of the strangest things I see now a days. The kids using their phones to ride bikes, boards or scooters to a friends house.

I have to carry my phone as my driver’s license and other $$$ type paying things are on in it.
I hardly ever carry a phone with me. If we go somewhere wife and daughter have one so no need for me. Plus I really don't like carrying it and keeping track of it. If I go out of town alone I will take it, but most of the time it sits in the charging cradle in the kitchen. I get griped at all the time when I go out and run errands and they want something added to a grocery list or something. Mainly by my daughter.

My wife and daughter on the other hand have theirs attached to them at all times. Hell my wife during the week carries 2 of them around the house with her. (personal and work) since she still works mostly remote.

My step-father for his entire career never worked on a Friday that fell on the 13th. He would take a day of leave anytime that day came up. At least the entire time I knew him. which was from about 1983-4 when he married my mother until he retired in '05 or so.

Some people get really paranoid about Friday the 13th for some reason. has that always been a thing, or was it more so because of the
movies?

It has never bothered me in the least!

I never thought much about it either. It was just one day closer to the weekend for me.

I don't carry my phone anywhere since I retired. In fact, the only thing I use it for is photos or video, and I'm trying to break that habit too. I haven't had a legitimate (not spam) phone call in over a month. Probably closer to two.

Well, the giant yellow gopher has moved into my front yard.

Said he's here to replace the "riser" pipe and meter. Been working on it almost 2 hours so far. New meter is sitting in front of the porch... But, he did bring a fire extinguisher!

I keep asking if he's found Jimmy Hoffa. So far, the answer is no!

Good morning, all! A pretty nice day here. Looking for a high of 75°. Not sure what trouble I'll get into today, but rest assured I'll find something.

Meetings - When planning and coordinating multi-million-dollar Turnarounds there meetings galore. Meetings to have meetings. I hated the ones that I had to attend that had absolutely nothing to do with me, and it seemed those were the ones that dragged on forever.

Phone - I get scolded quite often for leaving it home. "What if I needed you?", "What if you broke down somewhere?". I must admit, that having one on my last job was comforting as I had to drive for miles out in the boonies.

Forums & Social Media - This is it. The one, the only. While trains are the main focus, the wide variety of topics that come up offer the change that makes this forum interesting. You can ask a question and get an honest and respectful answer. There are no "rivet counters" or if there are, they keep it to themselves.

STAY SAFE

Good Morning All. Happy Friday the 13th if that sort of thing spooks you. Clear and 50°, will get close to 80° later on. Shorts continue to be the attire of the day. Except for the rain and ensuing cooler daytime temperature on Saturday, more of the same temperature range for the next 10 days.

The weekly grocery trek went off without incident yesterday, stopped and picked up take-out pizza on the way home. Wife's birthday was low key and we went out to eat at her favorite hamburger place in Denton, a place called Rodeo Goat, a more or less local chain with about a dozen locations in the DFW area. Nothing but burgers and sides. Their gimmick is that the burger options are named after rock stars and local sportscasters, like Don Henly, Billy Gibbons and Neil Young. The table-sized platter of fries comes with a topping of cheese, bacon and Jalapenos. It's really good. High carb meal for sure. Quite crowded for a Thursday night, but no wait on a table.

Intermittent fasting is my practice. I go from 7:00 pm each evening until noon the following day with only non-alcoholic liquids consumed

I started another project out in the train shed yesterday; and then stopped immediately. I pulled a Walther's farmhouse off the shelf because I just had the itch to do a structure kit.

After reviewing the better than usual instructions, I took a look at the parts. Whoops! There is a defective wall.

That ends that for now. I'll be calling Customer Service this morning to see if I can get a replacement.
Then I had to repair my workbench chair - a leg mounting had split and it was very wobbly. Nothing a couple of 2" screws couldn't fix. But I will have to buy a new one soon.

Chad - Yep! I remember getting two different days off from school for the birthdays of Washington and Lincoln. Didn't get either off once in college though.
Kevin - Sorry to read about the back issues returning.
Terry

I remember those kinds of meetings. Our original owner didn't allow them. But the corporation afterwards did. My favorite was a two hour Sales presentation regarding our company starting up a pre-hung door department. No one on the staff had any idea regarding them. Spent 6 months setting it up. Then a poorly trained and unsupervised employee milled out over 200 door blanks for locksets/dead bolts and put them on the mill table upside down. All had to be scrapped. That department was eventually shut down after 9 months because of a total lack of sales. We knew how to make and sell windows and sliding glass doors, not pre-hung doors.
Tom O -

I regularly don't carry a phone with me. Matter of fact, the only reason that I have one to begin with is that my wife took advantage of a "buy one, get one free" sale back in 2018.
Texas doesn't have a mobile ID system yet. It has been approved but not implemented.

Everyone have a great Friday.

My drivers licsense and other stuff is on the smartphone so I have to carry it. I haven’t had a separate wallet in years

Howdy Y'all..............

The fear of the number 13 .................. Triskaidekaphobia.

Loved the Hank Hill vid. Lou Ann's boyfriend looks like Tom Petty and Boomhauer looks like Mathew McConaughey.

Work on the layout after a quick trip to town.

Tee shirt weather outside. A little cloudy now with rain in the forecast for around 9 tonight.

Have a good one..........John
