Today a neighbor that is moving to Texas gave me one of these. A box cab, O guage made by Thomas G Bedell, all brass. Looks like 1936-1941. Unassembled still in the box. Anybody here know anything about these?

View attachment 257571

I Ran it through Ai as I know nothing about O scale. I copied your picture and take it this info anyway you want:

Finding a T.G. Bedell "B-Lectric" kit that is complete and unbuilt is incredibly rare. These were the high-end "Rolls Royce" kits of the Depression era.
Estimated Market Value: $400 – $850+
The value depends heavily on a few factors:
• Completeness: If you have the original motor (likely a heavy AC/DC motor with a massive brass flywheel) and the specific "Spring Stabilized" frame parts mentioned in the print, the value sits at the high end.
• Condition of the Brass: If the brass is clean (not corroded or "zinc rot" on any die-cast parts), it’s a premium item.
• The "Unbuilt" Premium: In the vintage O-scale world, "New Old Stock" (NOS) kits are worth significantly more than one that was started and abandoned.
Why it’s valuable
1. Historical Pedigree: T.G. Bedell was one of the first to move away from "toy" trains toward "1/4 inch scale" realism.
2. Rarity: Most of these were built or lost to metal scrap drives during WWII. Finding one "in the box" in 2026 is a fluke.
3. Cross-Over Appeal: It appeals to New York Central (NYC) and New Haven (NYNH+H) collectors because the "B-Lectric" was a hybrid design of their famous electric motors.

I then asked where could it be sold

For a rare brass item like this, I recommend avoiding general marketplaces like Facebook or Craigslist. Instead, use these specialist options where collectors actively look for historical brass:
• Top Specialist Auction Houses:
• Stout Auctions: They are arguably the top name for high-end toy and scale trains. They hold regular "Brass and O Scale" specialty auctions and have a massive following of serious collectors.
• Harris Toy Train Auctions: A reputable house that specifically seeks out high-quality brass consignments.
• Burgess Auctions: Known for handling museum-quality brass collections and providing live online bidding.
• Dedicated Brass Resellers:
• BrassTrains.com: This is the "gold standard" for brass sales. They buy collections outright for cash or sell them on consignment. Their site is where most serious collectors check prices.
• ReSourced Rails: They specialize in buying and selling vintage and rare scale models, including unbuilt kits.
• Collector Groups & Forums:
• [email protected]: This is a highly active community of brass enthusiasts. You can post items for sale directly to members who specifically hunt for rare kits like yours.

Have fun!

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those wondering what fresh hell awaits us this weekend...

It's Troy again.

Speaking of Hell, I don't know about that town in Michigan, and why it gets such a bad rap, but here in the Fort, it's currently 18 F-degrees, and we'll be raking in the fake spring with up to 46 of them F-degrees.

Which means our front yard will be a muddy mess once the the Gas Meter guys get done digging up the pipe to the main or whatever they're replacing. I'm up, showered while we still have hot water. Wife was still in bed, but had her Darth Vader red light mask on. Good for the skin or something. The cat loves to snuggle when she's got it on. Something about red light, and he's her best buddy for that half an hour.

Me, I just make coffee and let the magic beans with hot water do their thing to my tummy.

Looks like we're heading into Fake Spring.

We fly out inbetween the rain showers thursday morning, heading to Miami FL. Board our ship on Friday!

There's some interesting stuff from time to time that appears here. Most of the time I don't have a phone with me to capture it and its gone by the time I come back..

Mike, how can you in this day and age forget your phone? Don’t you need it to use Maps or Wayz or Carmin to tell you how to cross the street!!!
Truly that maybe one of the strangest things I see now a days. The kids using their phones to ride bikes, boards or scooters to a friends house.

I have to carry my phone as my driver’s license and other $$$ type paying things are on in it.

Good morning from the big Melt! 50’s today through Tuesday when it drops into the 40’s!

I checked for my name and it is not even redacted on the LIST. I don’t understand how…. Never mind!

We are heading for Mankato, Mn. in 90 minutes for hockey. A 4.5 hour drive. The weather is nice, we are both antsy, hotels are fun and the Badger Hockey woman are still #1 and play #10 Minnesota State. This completes our visiting all WCHA conference schools the Badgers play. Planned for next year it moved up because we will not go to the ICE dominated Twin Cities. I don’t need to bail Terry out! We maybe back Sunday afternoon, Monday or Tuesday depending on what we find.

I’ve been hitting golf balls daily on the simulator again since the New Year! Next week and Terry is coming we are heading out to St Croix on the US Virgin Islands as I rejoin the golf circuit my brother and his friends put on. 16 events throughout the year I will health depending play 10. Not sure what to expect either Island wise or golf. Never been to the Virgin Islands but it’s warm and that is good enough since it’s warmer than Wisconsin.

Enjoy the day

36°F out there this Friday morning. We might see 59°F if it stays sunny. We are expecting up to 1.5" of rain between Saturday and Sunday with mild (for Feb) temperatures.

More experimentation and re-learning my camera after lunch today. That's all I'm doing today besides eating the last piece of apple pie!

My step-father for his entire career never worked on a Friday that fell on the 13th. He would take a day of leave anytime that day came up. At least the entire time I knew him. which was from about 1983-4 when he married my mother until he retired in '05 or so.

Have a great weekend! Servus!

Good Morning All. Happy Friday the 13th if that sort of thing spooks you. Clear and 50°, will get close to 80° later on. Shorts continue to be the attire of the day. Except for the rain and ensuing cooler daytime temperature on Saturday, more of the same temperature range for the next 10 days.

The weekly grocery trek went off without incident yesterday, stopped and picked up take-out pizza on the way home. Wife's birthday was low key and we went out to eat at her favorite hamburger place in Denton, a place called Rodeo Goat, a more or less local chain with about a dozen locations in the DFW area. Nothing but burgers and sides. Their gimmick is that the burger options are named after rock stars and local sportscasters, like Don Henly, Billy Gibbons and Neil Young. The table-sized platter of fries comes with a topping of cheese, bacon and Jalapenos. It's really good. High carb meal for sure. Quite crowded for a Thursday night, but no wait on a table.

Intermittent fasting is my practice. I go from 7:00 pm each evening until noon the following day with only non-alcoholic liquids consumed

I started another project out in the train shed yesterday; and then stopped immediately. I pulled a Walther's farmhouse off the shelf because I just had the itch to do a structure kit.

After reviewing the better than usual instructions, I took a look at the parts. Whoops! There is a defective wall.

That ends that for now. I'll be calling Customer Service this morning to see if I can get a replacement.
Then I had to repair my workbench chair - a leg mounting had split and it was very wobbly. Nothing a couple of 2" screws couldn't fix. But I will have to buy a new one soon.

Chad - Yep! I remember getting two different days off from school for the birthdays of Washington and Lincoln. Didn't get either off once in college though.
Kevin - Sorry to read about the back issues returning.
Terry
The “meeting” this morning was solely for the sales department to let us know how great they are. An hour and a half of my life I”ll never get back.
I remember those kinds of meetings. Our original owner didn't allow them. But the corporation afterwards did. My favorite was a two hour Sales presentation regarding our company starting up a pre-hung door department. No one on the staff had any idea regarding them. Spent 6 months setting it up. Then a poorly trained and unsupervised employee milled out over 200 door blanks for locksets/dead bolts and put them on the mill table upside down. All had to be scrapped. That department was eventually shut down after 9 months because of a total lack of sales. We knew how to make and sell windows and sliding glass doors, not pre-hung doors.

Mike, how can you in this day and age forget your phone?
I regularly don't carry a phone with me. Matter of fact, the only reason that I have one to begin with is that my wife took advantage of a "buy one, get one free" sale back in 2018.
Texas doesn't have a mobile ID system yet. It has been approved but not implemented.

Everyone have a great Friday.

Good morning all, 42 here and sunny. The back is much improved this morning, thank you all for the prayers and well wishes. Seeing that Walther's kit, I need to check a couple to make sure they are alright. Hoping to take LadyC out for Valentine's Day tomorrow, she is still insisting I am still grounded today at least. Just watched the launch of the latest crew for the ISS, a night launch is really snazzy.
Hope you all have a great day.
