Talk about inflation!

Two items of post delivered today, one was the March edition of Railroad Model Craftsman which contains a review of a new batch of Walthers Proto GP7's, yours for $219 US!!

Other item, a second hand never been used Proto 2000 GP9, basically exactly the same model, translated into US currency, cost me $35 including delivery!

Might need the gears replacing mind...

Now you know why I mainly specialise in working with older releases of some models...
Why do you think I prowl eBay for 1st run Proto Geeps, get em cheap, throw in a set of gears and run them!

Well howdy there internet peeps freshly back from cruising Willie's layout post!

I figured I'd send this thread straight down the toilet.

Here's what I did today.

See those two holes in the counter fascia to the camera left? That's where the bog roll holder used to reside. With my ongoing and recurring back issues, reaching it is becoming a chore.

So I moved it. But I didn't want to surface mount it to the drawer. Nor in front of the sink where it would be in the way. And the fascia wasn't thick enough to mount the roll holder.

So I broke out the liquid nails, and glued a 2x4 to the back of the fascia. Today it was cured enough, so I broke out the drill and screwbits.

Mission accomplished.

Good evening!

As a member of this forum for a few years now, I’ve shared a few layout projects and expanded my knowledge and skills with each project. My love for trains and model railroading has continued to grow, much more than I ever thought possible. So much in fact that I completed my first day of being a conductor for the local railroad. Never thought I’d work for a railroad in reality but I suppose it was likely to happen given my first word as a child was “choo choo”:)

Looking forward to this new adventure!

An alternative to glueing 2x4s for tp holder to you mirror Troy is a TP stand that just stands next to the throne.

Tried one. It was either right between my legs (cold aluminium isn't a welcome feeling at 3 am) or in the tub. They're too tall to fit under the counter. Had to return it.

I know they come in shorter versions, but gluing an odd hunk of a 2x4 scrap was five minutes of work. Another 10 minutes and the TP holder was moved to where I can easily reach it.

Wife does have one of those stands in her loo.

The two Bedrooms upstairs each have a full bath. But it used to be a Jack-n-Jill arrangement (like the one for the Brady Bunch kids): Two each side had a sink and toilet. Between those two small bathrooms was a shared tub room for bathing. (how that worked with all of those teen Bradys and lots of hormones????)

One of the previous home owners turned it into two seperate complete baths. But "my" bathroom is the much smaller of the two. Until we remodel and replace the counter with a real vanity and much smaller mirror, I have very little option of where to hang the bog roll. I want it in front, and not a trip hazard. Nor where I'll bump it leaning in to shave over the sink.

Watched live stream of the departure of the SS United States from Philadelphia enroute to become a reef off the Gulf coast of Florida. As a small child I marveled at magazine photographs of this ship, Pride of the US Merchant Marine, its beauty and graceful appearance, in the days before intercontinental Jet aircraft. As the tugs eased her out of the pier and in to the main channel, she looked every bit her 75+ years.

The ship has spent the last 30 years tied up at a pier in South Philadelphia, amassing docking fees as preservationists sought funding to preserve it. Part of our collective obsession with our past, instead of building toward our future.

Well, after much more drama than it should have taken, I was able to print the label using my Macbook. I did get a warning the next update of Mac OS will result in the printer no longer working on that, as well. It's a Canon printer I bought new from Wally World 13 months ago. Welcome to the age of forced obsolescence.

Morning all,

-5° with a wind chill of -19°, going for a sunny high of 17° today. Roads where plowed are in good shape, will be even better with the radiant heating from the sun.
Downside of now having a double track to cross in having the ability to run more trains. 15 minute wait as just as a southbound train cleared the crossing, here comes a looonnng northbound. The northbound usually start slowing as I think there is a speed restriction through the town I live in. Likewise at that crossing, southbound usually start speeding up.
