No idea who the Davan Vallley are/were if they even actually existed but it is a nicely done model.

Cannot find any information on it. Possibly freelance on someones layout. Look good though.

Edit_ I see it already has been answered.

What’s interesting is that there is a listing on eBay in the uk for a lot of four cars that includes a different DV car.

Interesting, might be the same seller, I shall investigate further!!

EDIT - Different seller, one who I know specialises in buying bulk lots at auctions, usually estate clearances and then breaking down into smaller lots for resale which suggests the Davan Valley was the creation of someone sadly no longer with us.

However, the same seller that sold me boxcar DV316 has just listed identical DV310 which I have snapped up as well.

Good morning all!

Happy Saturday!

Currently 29F heading up to 34F. Like several members, a wintery mix expected for today. As of last night
it was supposed to be a dusting of snow, It has now changed to rain/sleet mix.

This will be the first free weekend we have had since New Years weekend. No volleyball tournaments or other
plans.

Have some light domestic duties and errands to preform this morning before the weather hits. Told the wife not
to plan anything. Will see how that goes.

Have a safe day everyone!

Good morning from my part of dry no snow cover Wisconsin. 24f degrees now heading to mid 30’s.

The grandson and family are up north for a hockey tournament in the old stomping grounds of Wausau. They left around noon yesterday and beat the start of the snow around 8pm. So far they have a fresh 6” with 2” more expected by noon. They and the team are in a hotel at most 1/2 mile from the rink. A 2.5 hour trip we had no plans to make even in good weather. Terry will watch his games live on a streaming app. I can watch the replays

We head to campus for the #1 Women’s ranked hockey team take on Border Rival #3 ranked Minnesota at 2pm. It is Senior day so bittersweet to see these girls leave. 2 National Championships, a #4 finish and a runner up in last year’s NCAA Championship.

Train room today should see some weathering action

The tree building has ground to a halt! Just not feeling it

I have cut out some foamcore mockup structures for the friend’s paper mill he and I are working on. He has some idea changes which effected a 24” area and cascaded into many other adjustments. The foamcore mock ups will help solidify ideas

Mountain building went fine yesterday

I covered the trackers with painters tape. The owner did the portal

The resin paper was added a couple weeks ago over cardboard strips, you can see some of the support to the right. More blue tape to the tracks

I cut the plaster cloth, dipped it in a paint roller tray of water and handed it off to “ mountain builder John”. John is the owner and wanted to layer the plaster sheets himself so there is no issue with, “I wanted it done this way”. 12’ long and about 30” high in 2.5 hours.

I painted the fascia last week. It’s called Deep Space Echo from Val-spar. I wasn’t sure when I left last week but completely dry it looks great. They will be at least 1 more coat after the scenery is complete

Good progress. Some evening this week I will go over and help do another 12’ that should move quicker as there is less height

We are debating the ceiling color. 16” on center so drop in tiles test fit easily on the floor joist beams. No metal work needed to hang the tile. The ceiling in his train room is almost 3000sq feet.

Enjoy your day

I live in the PacNW, so I don't start working the soil until the end of March. Beans, lettuces, beets, etc get started early April. I have about 50sq/ft of asparagus that usually starts to pop up crowns around that time too.

33 and misting. Should get to 45 later. Odd year, no accumulated snow or ice....yet. La Nina at work.

Current target is to plant some lettuce and other hardy greens before the full moon Wednesday.
Why before the full moon?

Great photos, they show how much work these things are.

Lots of work goes into building a layout no matter the size. At least in this area there are good modelers who do like helping on others layouts. 30 fully linked and fascia drilled blue point switch machine were added yesterday. We had a 20 something year old there yesterday. Sort of a regular who is learning and is realizing at his age he can’t afford to fill the basement. Needs to learn to compromise but at least has a chance to learn and then operate on a neighbors big layout

We no longer turn the earth over. Raised container gardening planted usually the 1st of May in So Central Wisconsin. In North Central Wisconsin planting was done in ground on Memorial Day weekend. 120 miles south makes a big planting season difference

Good Morning! Cloudy, waiting for the mixed precipitation to begin. Latest forecast minimized projected accumulation, promised it would end and warm up by 0700 tomorrow....I guess someone at the Weather Service remembered it was Super Bowl Sunday!

Darby Creek Yardmaster and Railroad Police Officer discuss handling of liquor cars due to arrive on RR-4 later in day. Plymouth Fury Cruiser car in foreground. RDC-2 on Main awaits signal to Proceed West...(Timetable direction East BTW).

Why before the full moon?
General rules from the Old Farmer's Almanac. You plant above ground crops when the moon is "waxing" or on the way from new moon to full moon, and below ground crops when the moon is "waning", or getting smaller. Consider that the moon controls the behavior of the oceans of the earth that cover 80% of the surface. It also controls the moisture in the ground which assists seed germination and plant growth.

Evening all,

After getting the laundry completed, the grandson came over and started taking inventory of his layout and trains. We went to the Saturday only train store in Mulvane, KS. Open from 10:00a to either 2:00p or 4:00p. I got some fine ballast for his N scale track and I got an additional bottle of Medium, a package of couple boxes and some small bolts with nuts to help hold the couplers in the boxes. I needed to add 2 holes in the car weight and proceeded to put a 1/4" hole in my left index finger. Local emergency center closed as I got there, but thus far band aids have stemmed the flow pretty well. Wife wants me to go tomorrow, but I've had a tetanus shot within the past 5 years and there's not really a lot they're going to do anyway.
On a side note, I was wearing my "In my defense, I was left unsupervised" tee shirt the wife got me for Christmas.

I'm just about done with the car. I have the couplers mounted, the weight repainted and ready to go. I just need to mount the trucks, adjust the new coupler height and then mount the car body back on the base.

I also pulled the dishwasher and put the sound blanket on it. It was in the box when we put the dishwasher in, but didn't see until after it was installed.

Have a good night everyone.

Welp... just found the MRR drama... Lionel on A Modeler's Life is doing his usual schtick, but adding some comments bashing Lucy B, the social media manager at the NMRA. Seems to be a repeating pattern with him.

I tried to listen to their podcast several times. Guests drove me to listen, people like Ron from Ron's Trains and things, etc. On their own, Lionel just came across as a bully who thought bullying was funny. I never tried to find any other MRR podcasts after that, because their schtick wore real thin real fast. I like something in my ears to listen to when I hobby, so it was not a good fit for me.

Anyway, MiniFigs is donating a portion of their sales of the Lucy B "MiniMe" figures to the Women in Model Railroading fund. That made me go take a look, and I ended up spending $50 (inc shipping) on figures like Tony K, Gerry L, Ron of RT&T, and, of course, Lucy.

Hello everyone it’s now snowing here in upstate NY so I know what I will be doing in the morning. Here is something made by Lionel back in 1919 for the navy. Thought you might enjoy seeing it
