Hello again,

Was never served SOS per se when I was in the Air Force, even in basic. We used to eat it for meals when I was a kid as it was a cheap meal for my parents to fix. Watch the 1970 version of the M*A*S*H movie...There's a scene where "You forgot your shingle, doctor" is shown in the mess tent...

We have a version where we use cream of mushroom soup, with ground beef and green beans and serve over mashed potatoes. We like it!

Good Morning!
-13F with some arctic air swinging into the area. I'll soon be going out to shovel the overnight snow.

I've spent some time trying to dig up as much information and photos as I can, of the CN depot that once serviced my town. I'm interested in the details that surrounded the building. It quite interesting what can be found on an internet search:

Anyway, I'd better get out there and shovel the snow! Kids will be walking to school soon.
Have a wonderful day!
That's what i'm talking about, it's the research like that, that's the beauty of this hobby👍

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with fond memories of Army/Navy/Marines/Coastie food. (From what I'm told by the ground ponders and wet-navy, the AF and RAF got all the good food).

TOM: AI for background on the MRR??? Hmmmmmmm? It could work, but it's not as high res as I'd like. It would probably work for vignette scenes, not a long rolling landscape. If mean adding to the photos I shoot, I could, but that's more work than I want to spend for social media pics.

As for Guess the Tank... Those who said a "Sherman" were mostly correct. The hint was in "you can't see the top"

The one I was printing in that photo is on the RIGHT in this photo.View attachment 182558

that's a Sherman on the left. His "big brother" is on the right. And it has a British accent when it barks. Note that the MG port on the front has been covered over. Other than the spare tracks on the brother's front, they're the same body.
How long did these take to print?

These would make great flatcar loads for a DOD train.

Thanks Troy. I was thinking just some trees but 18” high x 84” long but the lack of resolution seems to say NOPE

Afternoon All,

Started out the day at 55F getting up to 82F today. After animal chores today I headed to the train room. It turned out to be a productive day, I glued bracing on the wood walls, then painted the interior sides flat black. I also painted the back sides of the hydrocal walls the same black color. Lastly, I sprayed the door sheet (heavy paper freight doors) flat white. I decided the wood walls will be a thinned rain gray with the trim a thinned summer green craft paint. These will be applied over a coat of A&I on the walls.

Troy- Nice job with the 3-D printing.

Bill- Nice photo, ugly diesel.

TomO- Good luck with the sales.

Old 97- I haven't seen SOS since the military. Our cooks used hamburger in it, and they also made a minced beef (tomato based) for breakfast. I liked the minced beef better.

Willie- The interior of the empty shed looks huge.

I hope everyone has a good night.

It's still a Sherman. Just a Sherman Firefly. I saw the turret bustle but wasn't sure if it was a Firefly and then I got distracted by real work. Does the later Sherman with the US 76 also have a larger bustle on the back

We've hit 29F at 2pm. Yesterday it was 50F and sunny. Today is mostly overcast. We got 2=4" of snow over night.

Got some good news at work this month. Our yearly bonus, based on the prior year, is being paid at a little over 180% due to the company hitting it out of the park. And I was told that I again would get some restricted stock units and some stock options in March, vesting over 3 and 5 years respectively. I got that last year as well. They don't have a company wide habit of doing this but some folks get them -- seems higher level technical people and high level managers. The previous company (that got bought by this one) did not have a cash bonus but did give everyone restricted stock units (vesting over 3 years) as a "bonus", no matter what level you're at. These don't help me now but will as they vest and the share price goes up (hopefully). It's not a lot -- not life changing numbers -- but helps pad the funds for this darn house and the mortgage we're going to have on it.

It's doable, you'd just have to stitch it together. Another year from now, and it will probably be possible.

I can design out a 6x9in book cover. 18" high is probably doable... It's the length that isn't there yet. Keyword YET.

And, I'd like the background to be out of focus slightly. Our eyes focus on only one zone, even outside. The distance will fade in focus, even on a bright day.

Nope. The firefly's gun (a 17 pounder) had a huge recoil, and the modification of adding it to the turret meant the tank's radio had to move to behind the turret. And some modifications to the gun as well - side load instead of top load.

That doesn't mean that the crews of Shermans didn't stow stuff on the rear deck.

The German Panzer 3s (and some 4s) mostly had the added storage box on the back of the turrets.

But there was also balancing the turret with the larger gun and in looking at pics the M4A3 76w Shermans had a larger turret that stuck out the back. But not the same profile as the Firefly.
