Perhaps restraint gear for bondage enthusiasts.
Looks more like a tactical chastity belt and gear
I heard that story too and believed it, until someone from inside Bellevue told me different. Sure enough, I took many of my OS/2 programs (.exe type no interface code like Presentation Manager or Windows just straight background batch type programs) and they ran on NT with no modifications (not even a recompile). I can't even do that between the various Linux platforms. And the cool thing is that no one has to "believe it" they can test it out for themselves.
App level compatibility doesn't mean they are the same. NT was definitely not OS/2 and the foundations of NT were designed by Dave Cutler and his team that Microsoft recruited from DECWest after DEC canceled their PRISM project. This is all well documented history.

NT had compatibility at the app level and its possible that certain user level features were inherited from OS/2, but that is not the OS itself.

Lots of Windows apps had run-level compatibility on NT and probably OS/2 as well since they wanted to capture all those users.

I didn't see "sweetened" on the photo of the can that was posted. In that case I have to say I don't like sweetened milk in the can. I won't put that on cereal or anything else. My wife buys it for baking, something.

I love evaporated milk!

I'm glad you pointed that out so I could clarify. 😁

I think by definition the "condensed mil" is sweetened and "evaporated milk" is not.

Condensed milk is mostly baking and things like caramel, fudge, etc. but also, like I said, my wife puts it on Strawberries and things like that. It's thick and not something you'd use like regular milk.

My last employer issued me a company cell phone and was told it was for business use only.
So I carried my personal cell phone at all times and turned on their phone when I left for work
and shut it off when I got home. About 6 months later they decided that us not "higher ups"
really didn't need cell phones. (They were trying to cut costs). I happily turned in the company
phone and declined to give them the number to my personal cell phone. Lived happily ever
after.
When the company I worked for got bought, they started regulating our personal phones ability to connect to the (crappy) Microsoft office services they used unless we installed some sort of adapter (iOS based phone for me) that allowed the OS to connect "securely" with Office and it had all those sorts of intrusions and ability for the Office admins to wipe any data from your phone or stuff. We all said NO so they said we could get a company paid phone. Didn't even have to get bosses approval. I just called a number, spoke to someone, and the next day a phoen appeared.

It never gets used as a phone by me -- just access to Outlook, Teams, Slack, etc. when I am not at my desk (Slack I also can access from my personal phone -- we used Slack in the old company and there is too much resistance from all levels of engineering to retire it).

Good Morning All. Clear and 42°, not quite as low as the forecast, yet! Officially it was 68° here (or nearby) yesterday, but my thermometer showed 70° for a while. I won't quibble. Expecting 75° later today, but they are no longer predicting 81° for tomorrow.

While I didn't actually do my planting yesterday, I did get all of my beds prepared. I also got the flat prepared for the tomato seeds today. That won't take long. Drop the 30 seeds into the individual pots, add about 1/4" more potting soil and soak. Maybe 15 minutes. I also pruned a few straggler trees that I hadn't gotten to yet.

Good-We went to town for an eating experience at our local Italian restaurant. Bad-There was a head-on collision on a two lane bridge on road under construction about 10 miles into the trip. We had to turn around and take other back country roads to make the last 2 miles, but that was an extra 7 miles. Used a different route home which is actually shorter but the roads are worse. We haven't read yet anything on the local Facebook page; that will happen later when my wife checks it. I was fortunate enough to spot all of the flashing lights from about 1/2 mile away and I was able to turn around in a driveway. Many other cars were trapped and would have to back up a few hundred yards to get to a place where they could turn around. Law enforcement personnel in the area are not plentiful enough to station one on our side of the wreck to detour folks who were approaching. Or at least no one had come by yet. They were on the other side from what I could tell. Sadly, the road construction had nothing to do with the wreck, as they had not made any lane-narrowing or other diversions on that bridge. It's still the same two-lane bridge that it has been for at least the 44 years that we've been using it. Good: The meal was great!

I am still in a bit of a funk out in the train shed. I am just not inclined to do anything with the cemetery right now. It's partly because I am devoting a lot of time to the garden this week. That will pass after today. I resumed with the inspection and cleaning of railcars for a bit, but that's just to keep busy until the real spirit returns.
Since today is National Love Your Pet Day, let me present some dogs that reside on my layout.

Alan - Regarding private companies and holidays - Our company had a certain limited number of holidays and actually let the employees vote between MLK Day and President's Day back when the feds made MLK Day a federal holiday in '86 or so. Overwhelmingly they voted for President's Day. Most employees reasoning was that MLK Day was too close to the Christmas/New Years holidays and the intervening week when the plant was closed down. We also always had Good Friday as a paid day off which is common in Texas even though it isn't a federal holiday.
Troy - I can't find the typo? Or did you correct it before posting?
Joe - While I got rid of McAfee as soon as the free installed version expired, I received E-Mails twice a day for two years telling me that my subscription had expired; despite sending all of them to the spam folder. I started comparing and each ensuing E-Mail had a slightly different sender address in order to bypass the Spam filter.
Karl - I generally re-start my modeling mojo by just randomly selecting a project from my pending projects list which is several pages long. If that doesn't work, I'll look at George Selios videos or something similar.
Tom O - Good Morning America actually has news???

Everyone have a terrific Tuesday.

For me personally, my day at the office ended the minute that I left the parking lot; and didn't start again until I entered the parking lot. So I had no need for all of those Office applications when I wasn't there, thankfully. I know that not everyone can do this. But many of my colleagues would complain about working too much, yet they voluntarily checked E-Mail, texts, and answered work related calls, after hours and on weekends! Once the boss realized that these folks responded, the door was open.

I work remotely and take time during the day whenever I need to do whatever I need to do so to make that work -- whether I am upstairs out of the office, in the car being dad-taxi, or running an errand or playing hookie and meeting a contractor at the house site, I can "appear" to be in the office and be available if someone has a question or needs me. (Not doing this behind the bosses back -- he knows how remote workers operate).

If I were paid hourly instead of salary and was in an office instead of remote in a different time zone I'd not bring home my work either. 100% agree there. But I like the way it is as it gives me flexibility to deal with life and live in a different time zone than the team in eastern time or the team in India that I am part of (the team is divided between Ft Wayne, Toronto, and India, with a few remote people). We also have to deal with other teams in California.

Morning folks

Almost 50F as winter takes another hiatus. It is saving diesel and firewood but maybe the firewood savings is an illusion if my current lifetime supply burns up in a wildfire next summer.

Had to put on the packs and venture up the "hill" yesterday to see what the canines were supplementing their diet with. Leg of elk, seasoned with the current year's rot and garnished with raspberry brambles.

And now that I am schooled on boob armor------

OK Willie, what is with this border collie discrimination????? First Jaz and now you;)

In 20-20 hindsight, I now wonder if McAfee and Norton weren't responsible for creating the viruses their software wiped clean...I know, tin foil hat stuff, but their high pressure hard sell makes one wonder...

Greetings from the Sunny Jersey Shore. 37° right now coming off a low of 19°. Temperatures here have ranged from slightly below normal to normal most of the winter. Those 60° days a few weeks ago not withstanding.

Accompanied the wife to the radiology facility for her bone scan. They were not busy, so we were in and out in less than an hour.

If there is any doubt that Spring is getting close, pre season baseball starts this coming weekend.

Headed down to the train room soon.

Everyone have a terrific Tuesday.
It crawls across bottom of the screen before the 3 talking heads get to it.

i have always liked George, Michael is tolerable and Robin along with 3/4’s of the reporters are garbage

I stopped buying the aftermarket antivirus software when Microsoft came out with their own, back in Windoze 7.
The only time I've had a problem was when Defender incorrectly flagged a Windows tweaking tool as a Trojan/malware.

I just got back from the lawyer office. I thought today was the end but guess what it wasn't. I was teller her I'm glad I never put my wife on the bank accounts I had before we were married, accounts going back to 1972. She tells me I need the last 5 years of all bank accounts even the ones your wife's not on. I should have got rid of those accounts long ago. That's my job tomorrow.
