I didn't know Covid 19 restrictions were still in place? I visit my wife every day. She tells me there's nothing to do here except watch TV. I go to the front desk and ask are there any forms of entertainment here like Bingo, magic shows guitar players etc. The person tells me Covid 19 restrictions are still in place therefor we cannot bring anyone in to perform. I go back to my wife's room and explain. We live in New York one of the most screwed up states in the union. This is the reason I started taking down my train layout. I told her we should sell the house and move south as soon as possible.

There's probably alterior motive behind this. I used to live in New York myself long time ago (Long Island). The City especially tends to suck young people in and then spit them out when they no longer seem useful.

My old girlfriend in 1971 lived on Long Island, Kings Park. I got into an augment with her mother about where we would be living after we got married. I told her it will not be Long Island. That started a big argument, and we ended up not being married. I talk to her now and then and she says what a big mistake that was after going through 2 husbands.

You've probably dodged a big bullet there, knowing she's divorced twice.

Top of the morning to you all, or bottom of the afternoon, or middle of midnight depending on where you are on the spinning hunk of rock

It's Troy again...

Mom's visit to the ophthalmologist was good. No noticeable changes since last time. She's been getting shots for about a decade, so she's very happy. Another check in 8 weeks.

Note to David from the frozen tundra of Britannia... Not sure if I can get one going with all of the medical stuff we're following up on, but I found a 9 day cruise to the Eastern Caribbean⛵ I'm eyeing Jan of '25. NCL Breakaway. Been on the ship once. It's OK, but I'm going for the itinerary. Want to tour some Rum distilleries, and get some pirate training. :p

Now to convince the wife.

Morning all,

32° and clear, going for 70° later. Not much going on quite yet...thank goodness.

Moving some database backups to a vendor who is completing a move to the cloud of that data. 1 less server to manage!

Glad to be back to work as the stuff around the house was getting to me. Once again we discussed a possible vacation, and as much as I'd like to go someplace over the 8 days I need to use, they'll end up being stay home days.

I look at the itinerary. Dawn looks at the suitability of the ship for her. Being disabled, some ships do not cater for her no matter what the company says.

Good morning to those suffering medical issues, tax attorneys in training, wanna be rummers and pirates. It is 29f degrees feeling like 24 but heading to 54. The sky is 90% cloud free above my head, so it looks like a nice day. I’m unsure other than moving it forward what I want my day to do.

Yesterday was split between my workbench and the chair in the cave. My knee swelled up yesterday but there was not enough pain to take any Tylenol. Today it looks ok.

The gasoline prices have really been on a roller coaster ride $2.49 per gallon 12 days ago rising to $3.19 last Friday to $2.99 last night. I wonder what reasons the greedy oil companies are giving us now? But, it’s all BS as they’ll just make something up and the media will gobble it up and blame the Ukraine, the Mideast dilemma, Biden’s getting old or Trump got screwed. I need gas in the SUV as that is the most comfortable vehicle in the garage to drive when I have the brace on the knee. Using my Jetta is a definite no no for me as it’s just too small to stretch the leg out. But I now have a full time chauffeur in Terry so she asked where I wanted to go Wednesday and since I said no where we are heading out tomorrow to Racine. See her best friend forever, literally, I don’t count! That now will include a side stop at Hiawatha unless we go the long way home then we would swing by Lombard Hobbies.

Lombard is having a limited Athearn overstocked sale. What they have is great pricing but you really have to dig for the items. They should have grouped the overstocked items. Example is a Athearn Genesis 2.0 Sd60m tri-clops UP 2925 retails for $360 MSRP selling for $160. Includes sound. The DCC ready version is $120. I have a client who is a Tri-clops nut and yesterday they had 9 of them. I sent him the notice around 3pm yesterday and I noticed last night around 9 they had 5 left. I have a feeling I maybe changing some cab numbers. The SD60 tri-clops locomotives were the dominating diesel in Milwaukee’s Butler yard. Many of you will remember the late Greg Haacke (greg@mrr). He used to take work breaks by the diesel facilities there.

Terry is now up and watching the TV with thankfully the sound going Bluetooth to her hearing aides. I noticed the story about credit card debt. Close caption is scrolling and the average American’s credit card debt is $6800+. No wonder the economy is a mess. I’m going in the kitchen for breakfast as I got to get away from Good Morning America and the “news”.

enjoy your day

This is the same ship we cruised on in Dec '22. It's decent, though I wasn't paying attention to mobility issues. The only problem is they scatter the casino through the central section of the atrium area. Smoke drifts into bar sections. I've got asthma and I'm sensitive. As long as I didn't linger near the stairwells or open atrium spaces, I was fine.

the Promenade deck does have some wind screens a scooter or wheelchair would have to manoeuvre around. Glass wall half -way in from the railing, and a few feet after the same extending from the ship's outer wall into the walkway. They do break up the breeze, but might be tight for scooters. I want to say they were about 2 meters apart, but it's been 13 mos or so...

P&O ship 'Iona' has a similar promenade. Dawn managed that okay on her scooter. It is the seating she is wary off. She hates seats with arms and where there is a few chairs without arms able-bodied people sit in them leaving the chairs with arms vacant.

I researched enough about armour and swords to know this about Boob Armour

No boob armour is good.

Any shape that can deflect a blow towards the center of the chest is bad. Not so much for the piercing, but the percussion/pressure exerted over the heart.

Just say no to Boob Armour.

As someone who is not big or bouncy, it is not a problem I need to address, I do wear elbow guards and do have knee guards when on my moto bike whizzing across the fields. I usually wear multi layers if I can for falling off and shoulder pads have some appeal. They look great in films, but clunking around in to much weight does not appeal. now a super girl outfit with magical properties, or a dr strange cloak that can not only fly but come whizzing to one’s rescue if you fall THAT would be of interest. …..a Thors hammer WOULD for down well, but I have a horrible suspicion it would take one look at me and laugh. As having the personality to be a truly good person, and not a wind up merchant. maybe Loki s weapon would be a better fit, chuckles.

Good morning Flo!
That green facial cream is doing wonders!!
Smirk on your face, arms crossed and a hip bump to boot, yup. I scored a home run. :)
Okay. Before I get tossed, could I please get the "Ham Slam Hobo Special"?
It's number 36 on the breakfast specials.
Ham steak from a can, 4 cackleberries beaten by a 'Bo-chaser, 4 silver dollars, graveyard and two black straps.
Whaddya mean you don't know what they are?
Looks like some of it is railroad slang. :)
The "Hasher" will know.
I'll be in the corner booth.
Good morning ALL!!!!!!!!

CS Dwellers: We have moisture falling from the heavens! Pretty steady, but fairly light - I think that here we have had 1/3 of an inch? NEWS REPORTS indicate that LA and coastal areas have significant flooding and road closures from mud slides and rocks.

FLO - glad to see you back! I see that you visited a hair saloon for a do-over while you were off? Hope that you had a nice holiday. This morninb I wish to have eggs up with lots of bacon, hash browns, WW toast, and strawberry jelly -- a nice large DP, thank you.

I have to check the medical site to see what I have today .. Dumby that I am - I missed my MRI appointment yesterday morning - got there an hour late - wouldn't take me in - had to reschedule!

Well - that's about it from out here -- good day to all (wet or otherwise).
