OK, I feel like I am wearing Terry's shoes this evening. We received two letters today from Prudential Retirement, where I have a few IRA accounts parked. It starts out with:

It is specifically asking my wife to fill out some paperwork so that she can transfer the funds belong to the decedent, namely me, to a Beneficiary IRA account.

So if I don't post tomorrow, you know what happened.
That sends scam vibs through me. The first thing I would have done is call Prud's number that I had on file, not one given on those letters.

Morning folks,

15 and more light snow. I need to order up some paint today and I guess it will be from Walthers unless people have better suggestions.

Good morning! Or should say afternoon. 34 degrees and a foot of ssnow here in PA. Tried to work with the trains on the basement floor and I just can't do it. Too used and abused. Going to have to get a sheet of plywood and put it on milk crates. Then I can sit on my little painters bench and work easily. I opened up one box of goodies and everything had a whitish stuff on everything, trains tracks, buildings and scenery. Any sugestions? I have dowels to clean the rails, but what about everything nelse. And oiling the trains? What is best to use and where do I use oil? I Ordered the suggested book and it will be here tomorrow. Can't wait. I'm doing a lot of reading here.
Hope all have a good day. Cheri

Flo's the norm. Tons of disappointed women in my life.
That's why I'm single and able to afford my toys.
Coffee did taste okay. :)
I'm single and loving it. Do what I want to do when I want to. Married once, 3 live-ins, and now in a pplace of my own. Mainly because when I live with someone I take care of them and avoid taking care of myself. Now it's all on me. Doing quite well too. Cheri

Good m, all! A pleasant, sunny day here in H-Town. We are going grocery trekking like Willie, (if he is still around). I received a new laser cut kit yesterday, Woody's. It's by JLInovations.

Jaz - Scones, I have a recipe handed down from my great grandmother for what I was told are scones. I have fond memories of my grandfather making them and eating them hot off the griddle. They do not resemble anything sold in stores. My grandparents were coal miners in Armadale Scotland. I guess it's possible that how they made them versus other places. This recipe would be from the mid 1800's.

I hate and dread the MRI machine. Therazopam is the drug of choice around here to calm me down. 1/2 the tab 30 minutes before and the other 1/2 as I get called.

Waiting to hear when my next one is scheduled. Full body scan after a 30 day low iodone diet. Then injected with radioactive isotopes. After 3 days toss the pillow and bed sheets. The ultra sound before golf indicated the lymph nodes are back and at a size that needs removal. So first the full body scan to see if it’s spread!

The low iodine diet also includes removal from most of my meds but especially my thyroid replacement therapy drugs. After a few days without those I exhaust easily. Good thing is after the body scan I go back on my drugs and in a couple days feel human not zombie like again.

This will be the 3rd time of removal and the second after the original throat and thyroid cancer surgeries on May 2, 2011. the day that they announced they successfully ended the search for bin Laden.

Embrace modern medicine, it’s a good thing
That's pretty much the deal with me. A hot lymph node. They caught it early, it is not any sort of threatening as long as we take care of it, so I'm regarding this as "clean up". We just deal with it as it happens! Y'all don't worry about me. I'm a tough old bastard, or so they tell me. 🤣

MRI: The enclosure doesn't bother me, it's the noise the damned thing makes...drowns out the smooth jazz coming from the earphones they give you...
Since the Aortic Valve Surgery, MRI's are verboten. So, I'm reduced to CT Scans.

Alan: Sorry to hear that that thing has returned... Follow your advice to Sherrel. As Tom says Trust Modern medicine....they do wonderful things that were not thought of when we were young. You are also in My Thoughts and Prayers.

Hughie. They are Scottish Girdle Scones. Delicious too.

Afternoon All,

Started out the day helping MOH get Monty the skunk into the car so he can have his man surgery today. Afterwards, I did my morning walk at 54F and clear. After getting cleaned up I did chores then took a 2-hour nap since I slept like crap so no train room time today. Nothing planned for tomorrow so I'm hoping to finish the build.

TomO- Congrats to your grandson. It sounds like a great opportunity. I'm very sorry to hear about your medical issue.

Terry- I laughed at your drug test joke. I had a flashback to PM school and the pharmacology module. At the end we had a dosage calc exam we had to pass with a 90% to continue training. No pressure.

Troy- Best wishes for your SIL and Mom. I feel your pain about losing weight.

Sherrel- You're not a bore. We are all concerned about you.

Bill- The photo is amazing.

Patrick- It's good you caught it early.

Willie- It looks like you are making good progress.

Alan- I'm very sorry to hear your news. I wish you all the best.

David- Cool video. Supper sounds awesome.

Hughie- Have you tried the recipe?

I hope everyone has a good night.

Still morning herein the west, so have a good one!

Driving downtown yesterday, I looked over to the right and spied a flat hood loco away off in the distance. So the truck automatically turned right.

Bummer part is that the locomotive was parked very close to the hardware wall. Plus, the sun was shining brightly, low in the sky just above that wall, putting that locomotive in the shade. This all conspired to make photo opportunities difficult.
I took a few photos anyway, hoping for the best.
As you can see, the photo is very poor:

Oh well! At least I captured a photo of an SD40-2 that had come into town for a visit. Not many of those come around anymore.

This morning, I drove downtown to see if I could retake the photos under better light and position. - Nope, that engine had made it's escape sometime during the night.

David - That was a very interesting video about the early layout.
Cherish - Raising the tracks off the floor sounds like the smart thing to do. It will help to enjoy it, until you figure out what you want to do.

I built those bridge piers, but they hardly seem worth a picture. Maybe if I can paint them and make them actually look like concrete, instead of a couple of plastic rectangles.

Have a great day!

Definitely a well used recipe, and traditional items, SCONE PALACE is a major item in UK history it is in Perth, Scotland and was the original home of the Scone sTone a fundamental part of the crowning of a King or Queen.
You will get a really good result if you source the cream of Tartar, when replacing wheat flour with a n other flour people often drop the tartar and double the baking powder,

it is extremely popular around our Isles, Devon tends to favour the strawberry, surprisingly with raspberries a big Scottish product there is no big following of raspberry scones.

Making a round and cutting like a clock face for triangles is popular but the round version is the de facto. Both sweet and savoury recipes are very popular, and cheese ones in certain parts do get used to soak up gravy, I prefer mine not soggy but would not turn my nose up if it smelled good enough…grins.

I've been in the "tube" a few times. 1st time it took everything I had not to freak out. Every time after that they set up a large free standing fan across the room, which kept air moving inside the machine. Easy peasy with a light breezy in the machine, no claustrophobia at all!
I have been in the tube once, but luckily for me it was my ankle, so no claustrophobia etc.
