Good morning ALL!!!

Love the Conrail Bill!!

Good morning Flo!!
I'll have the "Fireball Special" please.
What? No, it's item #12 on the breakfast menu.
Two mini fireball shooters, Scrambled eggs, sausage gravy on top of crumpled biscuits, home fries and an extra biscuit on the side.
Coffee too please.
Flo, you married off yet? Asking for a friend.

No not that it’s dying but that the demographics are shifting younger. More than 1/2 of my visitors in January to the layout and weathering page are under 55
The concept that the Model Railroad Hobby is dying is totally absurd. Some of these same advocates of gloom and doom refuse to recognize the diverse nature of the hobby, and only focus on what they consider important.

Amherst, Timonium and other Big shows attract numerous young families, not just old goats racing through the venue on their scooters.

I don't know what it will take to end the resurgent topic.

I don't think it's dying.
Fully believe it's the one worldwide hobby free of government interference.
There's immense value in that.

Good morning from Wisconsin. Alan(espeefan) is right, Wisconsin does biscuits and gravy plus grits. My mom absolutely loved all 3. Me, not really! Grits are a big menu item in my area.

Second day in a row being wide awake at 4:45 after hitting the pillows at 1:30! Amazing though, there was no napping yesterday. I am sure there will be today.

Some overnight pain in the knee. 2 Tylenol taken at midnight didn’t really help but it’s better this morning. Yesterday, I did 3 sessions of 30 minutes walking in the pool and a 30 minute session walking the driveway. From the garage to the mailbox is roughly 290 steps per my iPhone tracker. Any wonder why I’m bored?

Made beef barley soup yesterday from scratch using one of Terry’s recipe. I switched out the barley though for some wild rice. No real taste difference that I could tell. I didn’t pull everything together until I started and couldn’t find any of the barley, so just substituted. Terry laughed when I told her…

enjoy the day

Good Morning All!

35F @88% and dark. No new white. Weather guessers say down to 10F plus white Thursday night. We will see.

Geesh, all the talk of music and the different albums made me go out in the Train Cave and replace the belts in the cd changer. Holds 80 cd's. Better than Sirius. Have 200W amp with 50W sub - we can really rock out there!

As stated, went to the Legion yesterday afternoon to see what I won. $600 - nailed 5 squares on one board and 1 on the other. Both boards were $5 per square and paid by quarter then final; $100 payout each square. Had $45 into them so looks like I did good. Bought all there a couple of drinks, gave Maria $100 and now deciding what ima gonna buy. Where are those train shows when you need them? Probably will not head to Spokane for my not so local HS, then again maybe I can talk Maria into a day ride. Do need to get some little things; hopefully local. Think I could find a protractor? Easier than doing the math. Well I did find one - it is purple and ya can't see sh.t through it.

Later

Good Morning All. Clear skies and 32°, mid to upper 60's for the rest of the week. 40's and 50's until Friday night when the next norther blows in. The ground here is still mushy, but there is no rain in the 10 day forecast. Things should dry out in a couple of days, at least on the surface. Grass and weeds will really start growing again real soon.

I failed to mention that yesterday was my wife's birthday, she's now officially two years older than me again. Much of the day was spent pampering her and making a complete "Keto" meal for supper. I grilled 1.25" thick pork chops on the grill, made a brocoli-cauliflower salad and served raspberries along with it. Not a single starch there, which is good for me as well. Other projects yesterday included some small inside home repairs, which while easy, were time-consuming.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I mainly spread more ground cover in the cemetery. I need to determine where I am going to put an active funeral service in, as well as where I might position some grounds workers. I have two different active service figures and two sets of workers.

The second set of workers is just something that I put together from my figure box.

Tom O - Interesting Facebook statistics. Reflects what I kind of saw at the recent train show, except I saw a lot more women, many of whom were actively asking pertinent questions. Which leads to the question of will I ever join Facebook? I already spend too much time on the Internet.
Chad - The talkbox was big in the early to mid-70's. I first saw it used by Jeff Beck in concert, but didn't see Frampton use it until about 18 months later. Actually I may have seen Stevie Wonder use it before Beck, but those days are still hazy.
Mike (Old 97) - Your post of the Warren Zevon video reminded me that he made much more money from Linda Rondstat recording his songs than he did himself. He wrote "Hasten Down the Wind", "Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me", "Carmeleta", and "Mohammed's Radio". Of course any song that Rondstat put on an album at the time, sold millions.
Swal - I have seen a few videos of Dona Oxford doing her piano, but I never really followed her.
Hughie - Note the similarities between "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" and the Creedance Clearwater song "Green River". The melody is almost exactly the same.
David - Wow! Get well soon.
Curt - ELO concerts were something to behold. Did you see the one with the spaceship?

Mardi Gras Day today (Fat Tuesday) in many parts of the world, not just New Orleans. Mobile AL has a pretty robust celebration also, as does St Louis, Pensacola and Galveston.

Everyone have a wonderful day.

Yeah, I've seen a lot from that era. Frampton was just known for using it a lot.

Happy birthday to the Mrs. My wife is my same age but like 3 1/2 weeks older so there is always that golden month when I get to remind her of it! Good luck!

Good Morning!

Boys, do I ever hate Valentines Day. It's about as useless an idea as April Fools.
I mean, she married me. Shouldn't that be enough! - Apparently not. She's been hinting that she wants some flowers.

I built this 20" Walthers rail-bridge to span the great divide on my layout:
WalthersBridge_02-13-2023 (2).JPG

To say the least, I find building a bridge somewhat of a chore, not near as enjoyable as modelling a building. I'm not entirely happy with my efforts on this one. It seemed like a 'cold' build, where I was just trying to get through the steps.
Now I'm trying to figure out the best technique to paint it. Suppose it would have been easier to paint before it was put together. I'm wondering if I can just take a spray-can to it, and actually get it all if I'm careful.
I haven't attached the bottom webbing until I figure out how to paint it.

Willie - Nope, I don't use the snowshoes any more. We just don't get the snow anymore, but, I do like snow-shoeing. It's darn good exercise.
Happy Birthday to you're wife.
Karl - I eat what's available, not necessarily what I like. I don't even know what the Mason-Dixon line is. I'll look it up, one day.

Today is bill paying day. Gotta keep the house engines running!

Have a great day!
