Afternoon All,

Today MOH and I are feeling much better. In fact, I plan on starting back walking tomorrow morning. MOH's coughing is much better and she was actually able to sleep last night.

Today in the train room I've painted the hydrocal walls. Tomorrow I'll do touch up and apply signage, doors, etc. After that is attaching the walls together.

Thank you for all the photo likes yesterday.

Joe- Thank you.

Hughie- Thank you. Your city looks great.

Troy- The backdrop is very well done.

Mikey- Try to stay dry. Why not do both?

Bill- Nice photo.

Terry- Skynet for real.

Todd- MOH was stationed there.

Swal- I'm very sorry to hear of your issues.

Willie- I look forward to seeing your progress.

Sherrel- My condolences.

Jaz- I saw ELO in concert in the early mid 70's. They were playing their New World Album. It was a fantastic concert and light show.

David- Wow! I'm glad you're feeling better and back home.

I hope everyone has a good night.

No train today... Ikea stuff arrived.

It's farther along than this shows, but I'm taking a break to rest the back.

That will go camera left on that green patch of all at the bottom of the frame.

And, yes, when assembling stuff like this, get a sorter parts tray. Sort the dowels and screws BEFORE you start assembly. So much easier to figure out if you're short something, or lost something in the process.

Those are interesting numbers. I would of thought that it would of been fairly even in the first 4 age brackets and start trending downward in the last 2. Just for the fact I wouldn't of guessed the older group would of used Facebook quite as much as shown.

But on the other hand, look at most forums, older members use that regularly, so I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise, but I kind of am.
From what I understand about Facebook many of the Millennials and those others younger then the boomers have turned away to TicToc and Instagram. FB is for the Baby Boomers and special interest groups that of course model trains definitely qualifies as

Bookcase is done!

On a whim I looked at Ikea just to see if I could get enough of their cube sections to fill the wall between two doors in the basement. The understairs closet (home of Lord Fuzzbutt's Pooping Palace) to the left and the furnace room to the right. Total distance between the two door trim kits is 58.25 inches or something close to that.

the Kallax 16 opening cube of cubes is 57" & 1/8th in both directions.

Yeah, I knew I had to get it. Almost like it was made to fit a about an inch to spare.

Got the game books, some painting guides, and excess copies of my own books parked there for now.

Classic rock fans have long pointed to “Mr. Roboto” as a turning point for Styx. But is this polarizing 1983 hit really to blame for the rift followed between Dennis DeYoung and the rest of the group?
Swal
I am not sure about the song (written by DeYoung) being the cause of the rift. DeYoung was already on the losing side of band conflicts prior to that, and the band went on hiatus after the Kilroy Was Here tour; but it took 15 more years before DeYoung was actually fired from the band.

We doing “the hobby is dying“ thing again? Yawn….ZZZZZZzzzzz.… 🤣. I agree. The data follows the spenders. Our club has had no problem attracting younger members. Lots of young guys at Amherst and other shows. Lots of younger members at the layouts there. I hear the same stuff from the slot car guys, the diecast collectors, the coin collectors, and to some degree from the aircraft modelers. Hobbies aren’t going anywhere but the heaviest interest is from the demographic with the most disposable income. That’s pretty much how it’s always been, hasn't it?
No not that it’s dying but that the demographics are shifting younger. More than 1/2 of my visitors in January to the layout and weathering page are under 55

Personally I think we are in a “golden age” of model railroading.

I stopped asking my weathering clients their ages but in 2021 I still was asking. Most of my clients were in their 40’s and 50’s. My 3 best clients average 10 cars each per month. The youngest is 25 and the oldest. 47. Rarely did I get guys in the 60’s + buying.
Isn’t everything better deep fried?
i know chicken and potatoes are

You're N-scale, right? Do you have any of the full size KATO bookcase train box thingies? How do they fit if you do?

The tall green ones in the pic below. I've seen US KATO sets in these types of cases as well.

Nope. I don't have any. Been working on getting one off cars from the consignment or used shelf at the FLHS.

However, the interior dimension of the cube is just over 13 inch either direction. Looks like the cases would be 12.5-ish inches??

Good morning gang l

34° this morning with drizzle, suppose to change over to light snow before it ends around lunchtime. Hi, expected later of 44°. Goofy February weather. Looks like the temperatures will be ping-ponging back-and-forth between the 20s and the 50s for the next week or so.

Morning all,

32° and clear going for a high of 62° later. Supposed to get cold again for the weekend, just in time for the President's day off.

Flo: Let me get a double order of corned beef hash and a short stack this morning PATY.

I was told the other day to act my age. I replied "I've never been this old before".
