Good morning gang

Late start today, had an 8 a.m. appointment with the Endocrinologist. Good news, cholesterol, BP, and A1C at 6.8. A little tweaking of the meds as he wants my A1C under 5, otherwise see ya in 4 months.

Willie, you got quite the low spot there!

Tom, you are just way too intense with that Ice cream! LOL!

BBL
Hey the ice cream was good. I don’t get ice cream very often as like lots of things it messes with the Blood Glucose numbers. I also was unaware she was snapping the picture.

26 hours later we have about 7” of white stuff and it is still coming down. I will start the clean up after the snow plows go through

Good Afternoon. Another nice day but with all of the snow melting, there is either a lot of puddles or mud. Don't need the girls to get into the mud.
I only have a shower now, no tub, and trying to give the dogs a bath is not an option here.

Willie - See you have some puddles and mud. You might have to set up a ferry service to get to the train shed. As usual, great layout photos.

Curt - You are so right about the BL-2 being ugly. This was the first locomotive I painted for the Logan valley and I figured that if I screwed it up, no big loss. Drilling the holes for the grabs are a pain. I had a couple of packages of different grabs in my parts drawers. Don't know if I kept them or if they went into the dumpster.

George
- That tile work is looking good. Nice choice of tile. I have a fiber glass shower that came with the place and was thinking about tiling it but hopefully my son will find a place here in time and I won't be here. I did put a tile backsplash in the kitchen though.

Chad - I hadn't been on the forum for quite a while but as I suspected, the snow and winter weather did put the basement on hold for a while.

Sherrel - I imagine that the cheers and that flight will be with you forever.

Here ar some more archive photos from the Livingston club.

As you can see in the last 2 photos, things could get tight with all of the visitors in during operating sessions.

LATER

Good evening, 53°, cloudy and damp. Going to 57 before daybreak tomorrow, then gradually start dropping. Low 40s tomorrow. Today is the seventh day following surgery, so beginning tomorrow, I can begin to increase my activity. Maybe a walk in the morning, before It starts to cool off.
Not much else going on.
Chet: I'm not sure who misses your railroad more, me, Sherrel, or you?
Tom: That's perfect weather for Wisconsin, please don't consider exporting it.
I got a new tablet, Microsoft Surface 7.
Hughie: Fantastic...which size, (as if that matters), I'm curious as I'm looking for something like that, for day to day.
George: How do you like your new phone?

Currently waiting on paint to cure...

Waterbased acrylic, so I can't put the wash on right away

On the painting table, first unit of my new army for WWII, Italian Bersaglieri!

After the wash, some spot colors to put in, highlight drybrush, and finish the bases.

I had one until very recently. If you can find one new, get a 7 or 7+, the newer models are larger and much more $$$.
They are 12.5", 3:2 ratio, very good resolution touch screen. I'd recommend the i5 or i7 models, stay away from the i3. The others are quad core processors, which arguably don't make a lot of difference in a daily driver tablet, but the i3 only has 4gb of ram, which really hobbles it.

And of course, now that I said that, I found this one, with cover, and 8gb ram:

Joe, what he said. Mine i5 with 128 SSD. 12.5 screen, touchscreen. I put a 256 G micro sd card and save everything I can to the sd card.

Yes it looks bad, but it is almost all gone today, it just takes a while to run off. I have marked the downward blockage point and I will re-grade the run off channel later this spring. This black "gumbo" clay that I live on, moves a lot over the course of several years and has to be fixed. The house doesn't move as much as it once did after I upgraded from 36 piers to 60 piers. Concrete slabs just don't work. I sit on top of 9' of topsoil before one reaches more stable sub-soil. This I discovered when I had a pond built 40 years ago. The houses to the top of the hill both west and north are on rocky soil, the result of eons of the topsoil coming at me...long before this area was settled. Intermittent farming and plowing over the last 150 years didn't help either.

Well, howdy there internet people

It’s Troy again…

Decided today was another day to start the intermittent fasting Goal is to drop 20 pounds by summer. We’ll see. I’ve done fifteen in that time frame with Keto. But 10 of that is water weight and comes back easily. I’m looking for a more permanent loss.

Of course, having a wife who loves pasta, and my own love of pizza doesn’t help mattters….

Got up,, made the coffee, skipped the creamer, but added a bit of monk fruit sweetener

Sipping away, I ask, does monk fruit sweetener break a fast? Eg casue an insulin spike? Well,,, maybe…

OK, back upstairs to make a pot of coffee. Because I added a small spoonful to the pot, not the cup. The four or five sips I’ve had might not cause the insulin spike, but… I don’t want to shoot myself in the dietary foot on day 1.

OK, Flo is here with a fresh pot sans sweetener. Got to go word some words.

Good morning. It’s 21f degrees now feels like 10 but heading into the low 30’s. I am sore from struggling yesterday afternoon with what my ruler says was just under 8” of heavy wet white stuff. It was very slow going blowing that stuff out but I got it.

The daughter’s family is off later today for a hockey tournament in Appleton, Wi. One of the teams is from our old stomping grounds in North Central Wisconsin. She was saying of the 12 players on thAt team’s roster 8 of them are kids whose mothers she played hockey with back in the day.

I am working on 1 weathering project of 3 cars. That I will continue to do on and off today.

We have a 10AM meeting with the architect and project manager for the new house. I am still having mixed feelings on building and Terry is now having second thoughts. What I miss in this house is space. I have not lived in a neighbor hood since 1976 before we got married. Always have had property 2 acres or more. Having neighbors less than 100’ away has been an adjustment for us. But, I no longer after almost 6 weeks of living here think the space is needed, or is it the expense and time of the new build? We are wondering what Summer would be like here? That’s when the lack of outdoor space might show its ugliness. I know it’s stupid to say that with so many folks living in apartments and stuff where outdoor space is communal. But we are used to personal space outdoors and lots of it.

Terry’s stables for 4-6 horses is almost ready, she has 2 big guys left. They are staying at the daughter’s place. The final design for the arena she hasn’t put her stamp of approval on yet. We did decide though that there will be no space for my trains out there. I want my trains in the 🏠 house.

The Spring training trip to Arizona is off to see the White Sox, Brewers and Cubs. The brother called yesterday to see if we had come up with dates and we said no. He had a rental offer for a MLB team executive he was going to accept today for 8 weeks. He said there also is an option to buy. We are not heading to the islands now at least until the grandson’s youth hockey State Championship weekend on 3/3 to 3/5/2023 is over. The brother and his g/f plus my sister are coming to see our grandson play. Party weekend.

Our personal taxes are done. Business taxes may need an extension. Remember you paid into Social Security, it’s your money, it is not an Entitlement. One of the Wisconsin Senators again put his foot in his mouth about that yesterday. Funny thing is, he is collecting his full share

Thats it from my place

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 41°, didn't get as cold as predicted. The north wind this morning is not as fierce as expected either. We'll see 60's and 70's beginning Sunday. Today won't get much warmer than it is now. Winter here is just like that, 40's one day, 70's the next. Although I'm done with standing water for now, it ain't drying out yet.

Another successful grocery trek yesterday, prices seemed to have stabilized. My Kroger store has finished their internal remodeling. widening the more used aisles and moving most of the things that I shop for (except produce & meat) to new locations. I still need to learn where stuff is however. Looks like the outfit of choice yesterday was Lululemon pants on the younger ladies, instead of jeans. Meanwhile I noted that gasoline has moved back below $3/gallon in most places. Last week it was $3.13/gal.

Thanks for the comments and reactions to yesterday's street scene.

Out in the train shed, I assembled my new workbench chair.

Instructions resembled Walther's instructions and weren't real clear and I made one mistake. I had to remove ten bolts and flip a part upside down and replace those ten bolts in order to attach the seat cushion.
I then tried it out making a simple structure to add to the Ethanol refinery.

I will be using it as a pump house.

Now on to the piping.

Swal - You're moving right along. That's a nice tile pattern.
Chet - Never noticed before, but there sure seems to be a lot of moms w/kids visiting the Livingston club. Good for them.
Troy - The soldiers look nice. What scale are they? Seem bigger than HO.
I ask, does monk fruit sweetener break a fast? Eg casue an insulin spike? Well,,, maybe…
No it does not. Like Stevia, there are no calories in it. We have switched to using it for all sugary needs. Here's something from WebMD.
What to Know About Monk Fruit Sugar
Tom O -

I have been saying that for what seems like 50 years, often on deaf ears. Some of those folks are now realizing that when they see how low their SS checks are. Medicare is a partial entitlement to some, Medicaid is a full entitlement.

Everybody have a great Friday.
