Good afternoon. Most of the day had been spent at the bench weathering multiple pieces of rolling stock and a couple buildings. Missed my lunch as I was involved. As I put the cover on an Exacto blade I missed and my thumb has a new hole to release the blood. Those points on new #11 blades go deep. Wondering why I was all of a sudden shaky I realized it had been at least 3 hours since a snack or meal. Therefore I am in the recovery process of a low blood glucose event of 60 on the glucose monitors.

The outage here last night and this morning had me thinking its a cypher attack. That it was in retaliation for all the Ukraine event talking here. My take is I don’t believe the talk from any of the “sources”.

Back to modeling: who can fix a brass steamer where one of the pins is out from the side rods? I know but can’t find the repair guy here. Tried but way too many pages of searching

Thanks
TomO

Good Afternoon All. Cloudy and 39°. The radar shows that it's raining out there right now, but my weather rock (and my body) say otherwise. May still happen though.

I made my delayed weekly grocery/beer trek yesterday and it was an absolute madhouse. I believe that it was partly because it was Friday which is always more crowded, and partly because everyone was iced in for two days. Store shelves were mostly filled though. Prices were higher than the week before on many items, but avocados were plentiful; so much for the predicted shortage! Always interesting to observe how others shop, I always get a week's worth in one trip since I do live 30 miles away, but it looks like a majority of younger folks just get enough for the night and must make daily trips.

Dave B - I don't believe that I have posted that grain elevator before. It's a Walther's kit and comes with this scale house.

George - Glad that I could help.

That's all that I really have time for now, there's still daylight outside and the train shed also beckons.
See y'all later. Have a great evening.

Right then! The loss of the forum was noticed this morning. I had to have coffee all alone, and subsequently went into the basement to tape drywall in the developing train room. I've been avoiding taping, as I dislike doing both tape and paint. - Suppose I might as well get on with it, though!
I need to wait for the crappy tape job to dry before I can sand and apply another mud coat:

I've got two more 30"x48" layout table tops being constructed, and one 30"x72" table that is topped with 3" of styrofoam. A valley and river will be cut into the styrofoam.
The layout tops are all being constructed like this:

I clamped a couple of tables together, to see how my leveling system (the floor sliders) worked out. It will be a success.

Height of the tables is 44.5".

Anyway, that's what I was up to while the forum was down. One day, it will all be built!

Have a good one!

Message Jazz, she's got an "in" with DCC concepts.
True and their forum is very quick for their techies to help with info,

I can go look in and nudge.

Good afternoon gang!

Tried to get in this morning. I was starting to think that Mel had overslept and had not unlocked the door, but I smell good food cooking, so all must be well.

Chili...we have it 2 ways here. With beans and veggie chunks as a winter dinner, without beans and large veggie chunks on Frankfurters as a topping with raw onions.

Dang, now I want some grilled hotdogs! 🌭🌭🌭🌭🧋+

Sherrel. Up at the house now. The last few weeks, when the weather was at least ok (which is most of the time but we did have a couple crappy days) and when I wasn’t fighting fires at work we’ve been here. Mostly adding temporary straighteners to the wall sides and putting in missing strapping and today were trying to finish the wall straightener boards. Mostly on interior walls. And a few T-section straps we missed and stuff. Also got 10 of the 13 missing braces. Few weeks ago and we got those installed and also refastened with better screws and tried up the walls with the existing 57 braves. Oh so close yet so far to pour. More later.

Afternoon All,

Started out in the train room. Same issue. I talked to Jon and we're going to meet tomorrow and he's loaning me his DCS100 (same as mine but 5 amp instead of 8 amp). I'll hook it up tomorrow to see if it makes any difference (to see if the issue is my command station). In other train news I started prepping the area for the icehouse.

After that the wife asked if I would go with her to the local shopping outlet x 2 o_O. She only went into 1 store in each outlet. I even participated in decision making (supporting her decisions). I told her to get whatever she wanted because I spend way too much money on train stuff. She was happy and thanked me afterwards.

Thank you for the photo likes yesterday.

Gary- The liberty ship is going to be so cool. Do you paint it with a special paint so that it binds with the resin?

Jaz- Great paintings. You have real talent.

Sherrel- Nice photo. The ship in the background draws my eyes to it.

Willie- Nice scenes. I really like the grain tower.

Steve- Nice job on bracing the foam. I have 2 drawer sets like that (darker and no wheels) that came home from Mom & Dad's house. I plan on using them for car storage.

Dave- Very nice job on the water tank. I built a similar one but hosed up the roof.

Greg- That meme is so true!

Terry- A DCC question. I have 6 UP-5's and 1 UR92. All of them are powered by Digitrax power supplies. Could that be causing the throttle to lose synch?

I hope everyone has a good night.
Diplomacy, support, open cheque book, sounds like your luck might be in, no wonder she supports you

With Chili. I personally like some beans -- I tend to use black beans or a mix of black beans and white beans. But I know that is not correct for Texas. The last pot I made was really good and had no beans as I was going low carb.

The big NO NO for me is tomato sauce/paste/chunks etc. Real Chili should not have any Tomato in it. It gets its flavor and color from the chili powder, and whatever else (garlic, dark cocoa powder or chocolate, etc) you put in. I've made some really good chili in the past (and some not so good ones). One thing I like is to cut up a bunch of different colored bell peppers into small strips and also onions and to "stir fry" them a few minutes with some tequila poured over them while stir frying them. You want them to cook but stay firm and crunchy. Then mix them into the chili right before serving. I know it is not authentic but it is sure good.
I have never been brave enough to add chocolate to a savoury dish like chocolate,do I assume you really like it

Good afternoon, all! Yet another blah day in H-Town.
Had some difficulty this morning logging in to the forum. I thought someone might be writing a narrative and had lock up the forum.
with no real chores needing to be done today, I spent some time on the AC Brown kit. Whom ever designed this kit should be taken out and shot (16" gun). N scale stairs weren't bad enough. No, they had to make the cornice in itsy, bitsy, teeny, weeny pieces. I spent the best part of the afternoon working on this part of the kit.

You can see the subject piece on the ruler. All those black lines at the top are cornice pieces like the one on the ruler.

Willie,

Terry and I have commented on folks in grocery lines. Agree with you that many of these singles and childless couples have hardy anything in the grocery bag. My son says he will shop 2 or 3 times a week but everything he buys is delivered.

The son just sent a picture of the truck his uncle is giving him. They are both in Arizona and Brian is getting a few items to take home that won’t be moving to Hawaii. 2021 f150 he said 3200 miles. He is very happy.

Morning All
Having you seen this story?

You have to admit, not only did these guys have big ones, you have to admire their "attitude" as well. If the rest of Ukraine are as these guys were, Putin may well be thinking, that maybe this wasn't such a good idea.

Good afternoon guys,

I was busy on the train and with errands, so didn,t even realize things weren't working. Ignorance sometimes is bliss.

Boris The old fire engine photo is really nice

Willie - I like the scale house as well. The device out front is for sampling the grain (I think)

Mcleod - your layout looks super, and strong

Hughie - those tiny cornices are a pain, but they do add a lot to any structure

Boss wants to eat, this is my photo for today, an old Varney box car. I have the original package as well.
