That usually means that you had less "other income" such as annuities, investment income, retirement plan distributions, etc. Therefore less of the Social Security income is taxable. So says my wife the Blockhead. That is a term I affectionately use to refer to her and her fellow H&R Block tax preparers. Be sure that you have fully reported that income.
That maybe Willie. We did sell some stock in 2020 and not this tax year. Thanks, I knew someone would know.

With Chili. I personally like some beans -- I tend to use black beans or a mix of black beans and white beans. But I know that is not correct for Texas. The last pot I made was really good and had no beans as I was going low carb.

The big NO NO for me is tomato sauce/paste/chunks etc. Real Chili should not have any Tomato in it. It gets its flavor and color from the chili powder, and whatever else (garlic, dark cocoa powder or chocolate, etc) you put in. I've made some really good chili in the past (and some not so good ones). One thing I like is to cut up a bunch of different colored bell peppers into small strips and also onions and to "stir fry" them a few minutes with some tequila poured over them while stir frying them. You want them to cook but stay firm and crunchy. Then mix them into the chili right before serving. I know it is not authentic but it is sure good.

I may actually run a train tonight. My test track has had a double headed North American UP intermodal train sitting on it since last summer and also a German DB freight engine and a bunch of container and truck trailer cars on it. I need to get it all put away so I can start packing up stuff for the eventual move this summer/fall. But last fall I took out my GreenMax JR 103 (older style motor chassis) to take some pictures of my hard wired DCC install for another forum (jnsforum.com) where someone had a question and I ended up breaking two wires off the decoder by accident. It has been sitting here on my desk since waiting for me to fix it so I can put it away. I thought maybe I would do that tonight as a fun distraction from all the work-work and work-on-house stuff I have been doing recently. Of course it needs to be tested...

So last night I did get the train fixed and I "ran" it a small amount. The tracks have not been cleaned in ages so there was a lot of jerkiness and lost DCC packets, but it ran enough to confirm the fix.

The first 2 pics show the unit with the broken wires, the next pic shows it with wires back on the decoder and the last shows it on the track as I tested it.

I also put all the trains that had been sitting on the track for months away in boxes, and got all my North American stuff packed away in a box. I have one of those bins with the split folding tops and have packed away most of my Euro locomotives and trains and the more modern freight. The 60-early 90s freight are not yet packed away as well as stuff for which I don't have boxes (and will gently wrap in foam sheets). My Euro passenger stuff is sorted on the table but not put away.

I also got my decoder stash and stuff out and ready to pack away.

No messages since 2151 last night?

38°, sunny and breezy. Not much going on, right now. I am heading for the train room once I finish my tea.

Yesterday, my wife had am old '60s TV comedy on a channel called "Decades" The show was called Petticoat Junction, with Edgar Buchanan, which features and old steam train "The Cannonball", a hotel, and some, (then), very lovely young ladies.

In the episode, the Doctor, June Lockhart, and the three sisters, were discussing how to get 100 percent participation, from the folks in the Holler, to get their Flu Vaccine. They went so far as to get the Sheriff to arrest a farmer and his "moron" son, for refusal to get vaccinated. Keep in mind, this program was a popular comedy back in the 1960s.

Some things never change, people then and now advocated forcing other people to do things for "their own good" and the "greater good', as well as using a popular, innocuous TV program for propaganda purposes. That episode is what 60 years ago?

Speaking of the past...a photo taken at "Market Square", in Chester, PA, back around 1900 or so.

3rd & Market Chester.jpg

The "Steamer" enroute to a fire alarm. Note the cobblestone street, and streetcar tracks, the "Keystone" Cop, and the citizens who would make a fine group of extras in the Murdock Mysteries. The photo is undated, but has to be before the Fire Department was motorized in 1915.

Afternoon All,

Met up with Jon. He gave me his DCS-100 (loan) and I gave him my DCS-200 to use. Hooked everything up and the same issue. I metered the power supply and that's fine. Based on this to me everything is working as it should except, I don't know how to test the UR-92. I talked to MOH and she said order a UR-93 (newer edition) and if it doesn't correct the problem return it, so that's what I did. It should be here next Saturday.

Tomorrow I'm going to hook up my Zephr+ just to see if I have the same issue. Should be interesting.

Tomorrow also Dad returns from his trip to OH, but that's not until 9 pm.

Mikey- Nice start to the kit. If you drill the hole(s), then you have it if needed later. If you don't use it, then no big deal because it won't be seen.

Greg- Thanks for your response.

Chad- Nice looking electric.

Joe- Neat photo.

I hope everyone has a good night.

The Spousal Unit arrived back at the house late afternoon from her week long "Newport" bulldog sitting. There was no hanky-panky as we both fell asleep in our recliners as the sun went down.

JOE - I remember Petticoat Junction very well. Loved that show!

CURT - Seems that DCC is out to get you? Good Luck!

CHADBAG - Haven't seen much on the house lately? How is it coming along?

Having you seen this story?

Not making light of the fatalities and what is going on, this story reminded me of the only time USS Wisconsin directly received enemy fire. A single 152mm shell fired from a land position struck the ship, causing minimal damage and injured three crewmen. Wisconsin responded with a full salvo from all her 16 inch guns, completely obliterating the enemy position, and atomizing the enemy soldiers.
One of Wisconsin's screening ships sent a signal after the response, "temper, temper".

Terry, I know you would never be so callous as to make light of anyone's suffering.

I would not want to be on the wrong end of 16" guns!

Hello friends! Checking in finally after several days to let you know I'm still alive. Worked overnights all this week doing inventory prep. Without actually asking me, they moved me to nights again for this upcoming week as well. Didn't make me very happy. On the plus side, I only have to work there 3 more weeks and then it's off to my new adventure!

I won't lie, I didn't even try to catch up on the 9 pages of posts in this thread since my last visit. Hope you're all doing well!
