Molly is not alone. Our Desmond could not give a rat’s pitoot about the trains.

Good morning! From a place that we've had a 33F temperature swing to the good, in 24 hrs. Compared to the stock market, at least the temperature is going in the right direction.

I've been dry-walling and patching the layout room. Soon, that room will get new paint. I'm trying to get that done before I build to many layout tables.
Since I was patching, the wife made me do areas in the rest of the house that required patching as well. This included the stair-well and a few spots in the kitchen that seemed to get damaged over time. Now, I've got a whole lot of painting to do. - Did I ever mention that I hate painting! I far prefer that rustic, natural wood look, where you don't have to do anything to it. I only like painting if someone else does it.

Patrick - Very sad to hear you lost the 11yr old child. It's always worse when it happens to children.

Willie - The wonderful archival photos have told me to install my Caboose switch throws before I add scenery. Thanks.

Dave - Wonderful photos this morning! Train shows are on my wish list of things that will never happen around here.

Guy: It was kind of a joke. He turned 12 today and is no longer 11. He's out of school for parent conferences and was going to play video games all day according to his master plan...

Afternoon All.

Today was kind of up and down in the train room today. I started out changing the battery in the command station (DCS-200) and entering the 47 op swc values. After that I ran an diesel without issue for 30 minutes before breaking for lunch. After lunch the engine ran fine for about 20 minutes before losing synch again. I reviewed the op swc values and a couple had changed on their own (WTH?). After changing them back the engine ran fine until I turned off the layout. It's very frustrating. I'm toying with the idea of getting a Digitrax LNRP (loconet repeater) but don't know if it would fix the problem or if the issue is the older command station. On a side note. my Dad's DT402D has the same issue so I don't think it's a throttle issue.

Smudge- You did well for yourself. Easier is better.

Hughie- Nice looking kit. I look forward to seeing your progress. Great before and after.

Joe- Great photos.

Patrick- Happy Birthday to your grandson.

Karl- I hope your ear feels better.

Terry- I hope your job is going well.

Willie- Nice before and after shots.

Dave- The module looks very good. Nice picture of you and the boss. Didn't you scratch build the station in the picture?

Guy- Nice photo.

Steve- Unbelievable events in Ukraine although we knew it was coming. Prayers for your DIL's family and the people of Ukraine.

Bigfoot- Very nice job on the job.

I'm thinking about adding my Walthers Icehouse in this location to support the REA operations. I have lighting under the platform roof.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Gary - I can't wait to see that Liberty ship as it comes together! I remember when I was in the Navy in the spring of 1976 and a friend and I were driving along Highway 12 on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, there was a mothballed Liberty ship washed up ~500ft off the beach, it was named Betelgeuse; apparently it had broken loose from being towed to a ship scrapyard further down the coast.
Wow! Can’t wait to get er done and show it to you, we are printing as we speak and have more guns for my Navy gun shop

Hi Curt,

I eventually scratch built the depot. However, looking at the module in the post , there is a sign saying "future location of Wyoming depot" where the station ended up.

By the way, look forward to seeing your icehouse.

Good Afternoon Everyone.....the sky is over-cast and we're waiting for the 3-5 inches of over-night snow. We'll see if the forecasters are right since the snow amounts vary greatly between forecasters. This part of Wisconsin has had a real lack of snow. Usually, if the snowfall is light in the first part of winter, the second part of the season gets hammered by snow, so far this winter that hasn't happened.

Trip to the local hospital today for my monthly blood check since I'm on blood thinners. All good with my INR at 2.1!

Now much to report today.
Hopefully y'all will have an idea.
Justin: Just a thought, have you check the lube on the gears on that GP-7 of yours? Perhaps there's a build-up of old grease on the gears or it may even need a good break-in run for several hours to help improve the locomotive's performance. Cracked gear?

Just before Proto-2000 was sold to Walther's, I called Life-Like and explained that I had over 20 locomotives that I never ran and were still in their boxes and I was worried that in the future about the issue of broken gears. The fellow I talked to sent me 8 or 10 gear sets free of charge, just so I would have them in of trouble.

Willie: That's a great looking shot looking south on that vintage photograph!!!

Listening to Earth, Wind and Fire with Chicago "Live at the Greek". What a great combination of musical groups. Really working my small PC speakers. I went to a Chicago concert just after they changed their name from CTA.

When to a fast food drive-in yesterday for lunch and what a sticker shock. Over $16.00 for two burgers, a fry and two small soft drinks. Later a one scoop of ice cream sundae, $4.98.

That's all for now.....

Greg

I know what you were talking about! You still lost an 11 year old, and are that much closer to having another one of those teenage headaches.

Yippee! I got a new car today!
55BelAire_02-24-2022.jpg

It came in a package with 4 other new vehicles that I'll photograph and post over the weekend. The 55 Bel Aire pictured is made by Schuco. I believe the scheme is very realistic, as seen in the 1950's Banff photo.

I also bought more plywood today, so I can build more layout table. The local hardware say's they are having supply problems, and have been waiting 1-1/2 months for a ply-wood delivery. I had to settle on 4x4 sheets, instead of 4x8. That added another $20.00 onto an 8' distance.

See ya tomorrow!

Good Afternoon All. Wow! A 900 point swing in the Dow Jones today. Remarkable comeback from this mornings opening. Percentage-wise, it didn't do near as well as the S&P. That was nice.
No change in the ice conditions, my pond which didn't even have water in it Monday has an almost 1/4" layer of ice on top today.
Today is National Chili Day, so I hope that you have a pot on the stove already like we do.
Everybody have a great evening. Stay warm.

Good evening and getting ready to go out. Waiting for my date who is Terry’s best friend. Going to se the traveling show for Hair Spray.

Markets, Terry has kept all stocks that provide dividends, along its Apple and Tesla. She reduced everything else to minor holdings and it’s parked in cash. She started last week. Not a great inflation fighter but the best you can do depending on how bad the Ukrainian event gets.

Next week she will become an very aggressive buyer. She loves this stuff, I hate it

Tom and Willie: each of the last two days, I've been bottom feeding. There are some good opportunities out there, right now. Of course, once the markets closed, the futures players began shorting the whole market again. Holding some cash for next week, althoughforall the talk about higher rates, cash still isn't earning anything.

Stuck in traffic. Terry is ready for tomorrow to be aggressive but told me this afternoon she thinking mid morning Monday. It’s going to be a real roller coaster for a few weeks

We spent the day just north of Washington DC. Silver Spring, Beltsville and Burtonsville to be exact. Lots of Industry and usually deep pockets in those areas. The entire DC market has deep pockets, for the most part. We charge the same rates, regardless of the area. Most Baltimore based businesses charge 25% extra or even higher to DC customers.

According to an All State report of the 200 cities ranked Baltimore had the worst drivers. Followed closely by DC. The two cities flip flopped since the last report I saw. Just my luck!
I have not had an accident since 2013, I think it was. An old fellow back into my Malibu in a bank parking lot. He apologized and told me how he was in a hurry because it was his wedding day. I told him, I hope you have better luck on your wedding night.

Jaz, here is a photo I promised. Its my favorite Hungarian food, Fasirt, fried Hungarian meatballs. I think its best with tomato salad, my grandson prefers mashed potatoes. We got home from work at 3:02pm (I keep a log) by 4:15 I was fat and happy on the couch after my feast! Did I tell you my wife is amazing?
Sorry about the paper plate, that was my idea. My wife does to much. The trash is easier than loading and unloading the dishwasher.
Recipe?
