Afternoon All,

Started with a couple of chores then headed to the train room. Today was productive which is good because tomorrow and Saturday will not be train room days. I'll be busy with family stuff. Anyhoo, I put in the holes for the streetlights (6) then very lightly sprayed dark grey and light grey on the foam (more of a splatter pattern) then when that was dry, I used a 3-foot metal ruler to cut the expansion joints. I used a new #11 blade to lightly cut then used the back of the blade to run over the cut (widens cut). MOH helped me with this. After that I glued it in place ensuring the foam and wood holes matched for lighting wires. After lunch I added resistors and extension wires to the 6 streetlights. I have a couple of Miniatronics power distribution blocks from the last layout that I will use. This build has 13 interior and exterior lights. Obviously, the concrete still needs a lot of work on it for coloring.

Thank you for the photo likes yesterday.

Greg- Great looking weathering.

Dave- I also really like the scenery in the photo.

Tom- I feel that way about Australia in all my travels in the Pacific with the Navy. I came close but we were diverted a couple of days out. Nice looking trailers.

Ken (IL)- Does the unit on the arm have a catheter or does it read your skin?

Todd- Neat setup.

Guy- I'm glad you're feeling better. Congrats on the new acquisition.

Willie- Nice looking feed store.

Chad- She just wanted to be outraged (very common these days) and facts aren't going to change that.

IB Ken- That will be super cool.

Terry- Good for you. I wish you all the best in your new job.

Lee- Great layout shots and boxcars.

Joe- Great looking RS3. I hope your test went OK.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Boris, this is the 2016 Chevrolet Sonic, world car 😁

I have not tried the fast food Sonic, but the hit dogs look good on the commercials!

When you guys were talking about the Sonic I had to go look it up. It is not the first Korean/world car that GM has had (Pontiac LeMans from 99-94 was an Opel made in Korea) and Chevy Spark is also from Daewoo (GM Korea)...

Regarding Sonic the FF joint

Their food is OK. We have Sonic all over here but I have not been in years. Why go there when I can go to In-N-Out or now Raising Canes or other places. Their was a Sonic in the same shopping area where they built our local In-N-Out several years ago. Within a year the Sonic had relocated a few miles away. I realize In-N-Out is only feasible for the west and south west...

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes. Everything went well at the Radiology Facility. In and out within an Hur, and that included the time spent waiting for the CD.

I have a recent history of lung issues, beginning with pneumonia in October 2018, which left me with a persistent chronic cough. Over a period of time, I sought treatment for the cough, and last year when the wheezing became very noticeable, my Primary ordered a CT Scan, which indicated several anomalies in both lungs. I was sent to a Pulmonary specialist, who adjusted my medication, and three months after the first CT Scan, I had another, which did not show any of the previous anomalies, but found a new one developing. The Pulmonologist readjusted my meds, and determined that my problem was more COPD related, and not Lung Cancer. Today was a follow up to se what if anything changed. Since July, my lungs have improved, and the cough reduced. My URI infection that was determined not to be covid, was a set back, but the "Covid Style" response, with anti-biotics and steroids, resulted in further overall improvement. With any kind of luck, this Scan will be very favorable...I hope.

in-n-out burger places like Chik-fillet in both my wife and my books are highly overrated. I am not saying you are wrong in your enjoyment of it though. I just would like you to know there are better burgers outthere.

When in Austin the last 8 years we were always stopping there. In Austin alone P-Terry’s is a more enjoyable burger. I feel that it is comparable to the butter burgers at Culver’s in the Midwest, USA.

I prefer Mooyah’s burger chain to 5 Guys, In-n-out, MickeyD’s, Culver’s, Whataburgers and Wendy’s. For cleanliness though In-n-out is far and away superior over IMO #2 McDonalds if in the Midwest. The east coasts McDonalds overall seem much dirtier then anywhere else.

Strictly subjective observations from me, YMMV

I vote for Culver's on quality of food and cleanliness. I love Culver's fries. Cathy was at Chick-fil-A yesterday and her order was at best warm. I filled out a customer survey for her and received a free sandwich of our choice.

We had a burger place in our food court that had the greatest hamburgers made from fresh ground beef. Cooked over an open flame. He buttered the buns and placed them on the grill for a short time to brown the buns. A one man operation.

Well, howdy there internet MRR peeps, and those who drive Subarus...

Funny thing, I looked over at the next lane and saw a dark-olive-green Subaru outback. Now, I might be spending too much time painting WWII armored vehicles, but it looked all shiny and new and like a good green. For some reason, green on autos are either way toooooo bright, or too blah. So I typically go for blues.

I pointed out the green Outback to the spousal unit.

"So when you make an extra 30-grand, you're going to buy yourself one of those?"

Ouch... remind me who makes more (her). 😜

This morning was one of those days we needed two vehicles. But, when we move to Los Angeles we downsized to her Camry. I sold off my old Subaru Forester.

But, she got a call from her mother... MIL couldn't get her new line set for the insulin pump installed. The pump kept saying Jammed! And MIL is a 45 min drive away. Blood sugar was already up at 285.

Wife grabbed the keys and ran out. I rescheduled my haircut (with only an hour's notice), then sat at home of instead of making the haircut, hobby store and Target run I was planning.

Wife did take advantage of the situation to remind MIL that this wouldn't be a big deal IF MIL lived down the road from us.

"I know it's rough on you..." MIL said. She's not committing to selling and moving... but, she did admit to going through her shoe collection and tossing anything that was falling apart, and boxing any that were still in good shape, but too small now. Wife pointed out that women don't deep clean their shoe closet unless they are serious about something.

Hoping this latest episode is that one major step to where MIL gives the girls permission to take the final steps in getting her house listed for sale, and moving her up to the big city. Proabably won't happen before spring, but she's edging closer.

In other news, I'm trying to get my gaming stuff organized and out from on top of, under and around the train layout. Since I just painted up some planes, I thought it might be a good idea to organize the cards for the game. Could not find a premade box the right size, so I designed two of them out in TinkerCad (online free website).

Here's my Elegoo Neptune 2 printing the larger of the two:

The one above is for the larger cards that detail the planes. And here's the finished smaller one with trait, doctrine, Ace and such cards inside.

Total cost for both boxes was about $2 in filament, and maybe a dollar or two in power to run the printer.

That is the way it should be, Tom. I don't think we have stopped at a FF restaurant since the Lergy reared its ugly head. Before that, the go to was Wendys, because they were better/cleaner than the competition. Five Guys was a distant second, loved their fries, liked the burger, but the place looked dirty with all the peanut shells. Most places around here are Jekyl and Hyde operations. One experience is good, the next one horrible.
Chick-filet...persists on drive in only service, long after the Governour's mandates expired. I won't jump through hoops for one of their chicken sandwiches...just not worth it. Some of the best burgers here are /were Bar burgers.

I do my own Steak sandwiches, with (for the wife) and without, and tomorrow It's Scrapple and Eggs for breakfast. No one around here does scrapple.

Good evening. I posted a pic of a pair of UP Heritage engines I got from my LHS on Tuesday.
This evening, I just registered them for the 1 year warranty from BLI.
Their warranty terms have changed since the last one I registered a little while ago. You will need to scan or photograph the receipt as proof of purchase, and even if you purchased it new, the item must have been produced within the last 36 months. Luckily, these were made in June of 2019, so there shouldn't be an issue, if repairs are needed.
It is something to be aware of, in case you pick up a NOS item from your LHS, thinking it is still in warranty. The production date is on the lid of the box, or the underside of the interior label.

Chad, I bought my son another little Chevrolet with a foreign engine when he started working, 2003 maybe? I can't remember the name of it, but it served us well. He ended up trading it in on a Camaro, we never had any trouble with that little car with the foreign engine.
After that experience I did not hesitant to buy the Sonic.
I had a Chevrolet City Express, a mini cargo van. It was made by Nissan, another good vehicle. I traded that in on an Equinox. The Equinox is more comfortable and I don't need all the cargo space of the van. Our 4 cylinder Equinox get better gas mileage as well.

My cousin works for a local Chevrolet dealer. I preferred Fords when I was young. Family comes first, now we only buy Chevrolet, no matter who builds it. Counting my kids we have bought well over a dozen Chevrolets, and we have all been very satisfied.

Seems to me all new cars a good these days.
