Good afternoon. A bit warmer, 46 degrees now. We has some wind yesterday and what little new snow we had drifted just enough to make things difficult. The drifts were like concrete. My tractor was out in the shed still with the mowing deck on. I had expected to be gone out of here but the buyer delayed closing so he could pay cash. After plowing my driveway and the lane for over 40 years, I had to call the neighbor to come over with his four wheeler that is equipped with a plow. The drift came across right in front of the vehicles. Thought the neighbor was going to go over the handlebars when he first hit the drift. While he was there, he also made a trail to the shed where the tractor was stranded. Of course, teh drift always decides to park in front of the shed.

My son and his wife's sister and her husband came over a few weeks ago and loaded their items that they had stored in the basement, but we couldn't get the tractor out of the shed because of a similar drift. Now they can get it along with the plow blade and power washer on the trailer and put them into the storage unit that my son rented. When he moves up, he is going to rent a Pensky truck and load it himself. With my bum left shoulder (rotator is shot) I am going to have the movers pack and load everything. Getting too old for that crap.

A lot of great photos here today.

Curt - That Railway Express building is outstanding.

Ken - Hope you'll phot some videos.

Karl - I'm not going to call those modules over built, but well built.

Willie - Great scenes as usual. Top notch.

Louis - I will have to agree with the cost of Amazon prime being worth it. My wife had Amazon Prime and now that I am on my own, I signed up for it also. Although I am downsizing from a 3,200 square foot house to a 960 square foot condo, there are a lot of items that I have been and will be ordering from Amazon. Libby, MT, the town I am moving to is small, not quite 2,900 population. It's a place like what Montana was in the Bozeman area years ago. There are only 2 fast food joints there, a Pizza Hut and a MacDonalds. I would go hungry before consuming what they call food. There are 2 grocery stores and even a Sears catalog store. I had to order a stackable washer and dryer from them. The laundry area is set up for that. There are 2 hardware stores and a lumber yard there. The closest town, or city of any size is Kalispell which is around 85 or so miles to the east. Guess it will be a once a month stock up trip to the Costco. I know that I will be using Amazon a lot.

Here are a couple of photos from inside the condo.

The laundry area is in the closet to the left of the refrigerator. The cabinets have soft close doors and drawers with a quartz counter top.
My son just arrives with his wife and my little grandson. Gotta go.

Later
I see everyone using vinyl floor planking now.

We'll I'm on the subject. My sister who lives in Tallahassee, FL pays $1,700.00 a year in taxes. We pay over $8,000.00 and that's with the senior discount. She pays $6,300.00 less than us. We pay about $3,000.00 a year to heat the place, she pays $500.00. She can play golf all year if she wants to. Without freezing to death, I can play 7 months. I have to put up with NY politics she doesn't. My wife who use to walk around the golf course is now happy to lay on the coach and watch TV. No motivation to move anywhere. Not me I want to get some exercise.
George
Yeah, if she's happy where you are, persuading her to move would be a uphill battle, maybe spend more time in Florida so she could see the advantages for her to move there rather than yours might help.

How's that? I wasn't a very political person until they started canceling everyone. That made me think maybe I should start doing some of my own canceling. I got off Facebook and Twitter. My sister, brother and some friends already moved out of NY. If I could only talk my wife into moving I would. All my current friends are sick of the mask mandates. They want to move south, me too.
George
Ok I understand.

Good evening. Another chilly day in paradise... Jeff Bezos, of Amazon fame, also owns the Washington Post (WaPo). That should give you a hint as to his political direction...

Not for nothing,if I cancelled everyone who manages to "offend" me, there would be no where to shop...I try to practice tolerance, and believe me that's not easy.

My taxes are way too high, and I get very little benefit for my "investment"...

Quality of life? There ain't none. Too many "special" people insisting on their way...I mean the township Mayor arranged to make vaccine available for people over 65 who wanted it. 200 reservations, first come, first served...Almost a year ago...It's still an issue, even though vaccine is readily available for anyone who wants it. The local politicians will fight and argue and litigate over each issue just to be obtuse. That applies to both affiliations...just obstinate angry obstructive people.

Wife and I still choose to wear masks in public places (to protect ourselves as we are higher risk), and perfect strangers come up to us and berate us for masking...I don't give a damn what they choose to do, but leave me alone...I'll do what I choose to do.

Some people, in certain occupations, consider themselves superior, and think they have all the answers. They like to tell others what they need to do...I have at minimum of four immediate neighbors like that....I'm not a nice person, because I don't pay any attention to any of them....

I really want to get out of here and relocate to a milder climate, but until the situation with the MIL is resolved, we are kind of stuck in place.

I don't like Walmart, tolerate Target, shop Hobby Lobby at last resort..Michael's is worse - no inventory - Never go to fast food restaurants, they are all still playing the drive through only game - cheaper need fewer part timers - Restaurant servers are still surly. Yeah, we use Amazon...frequently they still have what we want, and can get it to us on a timely basis. My former LHS / Go to, MB Klein in Maryland, has not fulfilled my order for the Bowser RS3, ordered 2/2. Their web site states they are working on orders from 1/31...Hire some people and pay them a living wage, damn it! Then you will have sufficient staff. I'm running out of patience here...

It took me several days to be able to schedule a CT Scan for this week. The group I used was absorbed by another, located in the Western part of the state. They have a small group of people to make appointments, so what took five minutes now takes hours. Synergy they call it...Synergy!

Enough ranting, I've said enough.

Good night.

It's funny you posted this comment. Seven or eight years ago I rented a condo in FL for the winter. She stayed home and only came down for 3 weeks. We got up in the morning and played golf. Then went to the beach. Then to the bar. Then to the harness races. Every day the same routine for 3 weeks. She said, I miss my dogs. So when she flew home, I continued on the routine without her. So, I'm home for good now but I do make two trips to Myrtle Beach with some of my classmates every year.

I think this has to be the most unenjoyable Timonium show I have ever attended. My modules were a disaster despite all the time I put into them here getting them fitted. Other modules on the layout just haven't been taken care of. Poor electrical conductance. Poor track connectors. Modules not set up properly which left humps in the joiner tracks.
I'm done with my modules. One of the members would like to have the ladder modules of the yard. I told him if he is going to use them for modules not to salvage components, fine. There are several large number turnouts and DS654s of each of them along with about 40' of track.
I just can't see subjecting the other members to modules that are crappy and it's way too much work to try to maintain them especially when the warping continues to undo all the work I've put into them.

Seems she's happy where you are then, so barring some catastrophic event, a Tornado or Earthquake your unlikely to change her mind, sometimes you have to accept defeat.

Good real early morning. I am having a surgery at 10am so I cleaned off the workbench. Last minute as this was cancelled in January due to the Covid surge in Wisconsin. Then rescheduled for May. They called Saturday as they had a cancellation opening so I said yes.

The rarely this clean bench.

Good morning Everybody!

I don't like paying taxes, but fair is fair. What I really don't like is big corporations and the rich often don't pay their fair share.

Taxing retirement income is "dirty pool"

Our tax system encourages the poor to stay poor. It should be motivating them to do better. I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard someone say "why work over time? taxes go up." I don't buy into that thinking, but many do.

How about a flat tax, every worker and corporation pays the same rate!

Oh well, time to put on my "blinders on", focus on what I can do and forget about the things beyond my control.

Have a great day Everybody, "don't let the bastards get you down!" Despite what anyone tries to tell us, the American worker drives our economy.
We are already on top, level the playing field and lets us show what we can really do! USA, USA, USA 😁

Good morning. It's raining and 28. Should be an interesting commute.

Louis, when I worked 40 hours here, I brought home $486.10.
If I was forced to work Saturday, 6 hours overtime, I brought home $516.66.
$30 for 6 hours work, or $5 an hour. Since I don't like working for less than minimum wage, I avoid overtime as much as possible.
