Good late morning. Warmer today by a few degrees. Sunny.

Happy New Years to our old 💩 👴 in Japan. I like New Years in Japan. Been there for a few.

Going to my mom’s tonight for food and games etc. just me and my family, my two sisters and their families for the most part, an uncle and his wife and an aunt and her husband.

My mom has been in Las Vegas and is returning home today so I’ve been gathering the food etc. pizza is the main item. We have some square take home and pizzas from Costco that were $6 each (regularly $11) that we’ll dress up ourselves and I’ll grab a few pepperoni and a cheese one (already baked) at Costco this evening. (Yes I know they close early).

Got our tickets for tonight! ;)

Good afternoon to all forum dwellers........

I'll be up for new years as my usual schedule is going to bed around 2 am and getting up around 10 am. Hoping to get some work done in the train room today.
Made it to dermatologist yesterday in Abilene Tx. Got a few spots froze and supposed to return in one year. Abilene is about 90 miles south from my home.
Doctors appointment for Tuesday of next week for "wellness check" and get prescriptions in order for the year. Only have to go 18 miles, one way for that visit.
Ate some great BBQ at a place only three blocks from doctors office in Abilene. Can't find good BBQ around here, they raise beef in my part of Texas but no one knows how to do good BBQ.
Made it to Sams only 6 blocks from BBQ place and stocked up on a few things. Weather was nice with sunshine, temps in 60s.
I really wish there was a Costco nearby but closest stores are in Ft. Worth, about 165 miles east of me or Lubbock which is about 140 miles to the west.

Train show in Plano Texas in a couple of weeks and a 60 year high school reunion, in Dallas, in February. I hope the nice weather holds out for those trips.

Blackeye peas a little later this evening. As Willie said, its a southern thing and a tradition around here. Besides, I like blackeye peas, when cooked and seasoned right they are plenty good.

Well enough idle chatter from me.

Take care all..........John

I say refund his money minus the $10.
This is why I stopped selling stuff online…I shipped all over the world…US, China, Europe, South America..99% of the time without probs…
People being people, there will always be jokers in the deck..
Like the trucker guy that lived in Port Huron Michigan and wanted to, “meet me halfway cuz postage is too expensive”…
And another guy in the Spain to cheap to pay for express post.. sending me emails every 2 days “It’s not here yet?”…

Have you considered a Viking river cruise on the Rhine, Danube, or Inn rivers in Europe? A cruise down the Rhine is much more scenic than the open ocean and has plenty of ports of call. It's something you will never forget long after images of empty ocean has faded from memory.
We did the Viking Rhine cruise (Amsterdam - Basel) back in October. We really enjoyed it. No kids and 182 passengers. We did pay extra for a room with an outdoor balcony and upgraded seating on the flight over.

I much prefer the intimacy of those river boats rather than the Las Vegas nightclub circus feeling I get on a cruise ship. It's been over 30 years but I remember it like yesterday.

Good morning. Yeah, I didn't fall asleep until after 3. When my brain is on a project, it doesn't idle down for hours even though my body is toast. I usually don't start anything late like that. 10mg of melatonin didn't work so took a shot of antifreeze. Got up at 8 this am.

Our New Years' custom is to have a bowl of Japanese noodles called soba with an onion tempura at midnight and then a miso based soup with chicken, cabbage and mochi (sweet rice pounded into a soft, sticky blob) in the morning. The soup is called ozooni. Yeah, wife is always busier than heck for new years and she does an awesome job.

As for timezones, we don't have day light savings, which screwed me up with meetings with San Diego. I used to miss quite a few of them, mistake at first, excuse with the follow ons haha.
