Good Morning All!
42F @ 92% partly with no rain yet.

We are having fun now. Just got an Emergency Order to Evacuate for the Flower Creek drainage. Apparently the hold off dam above us a mile or so is starting to fail. Holding for now ... We will go to the meeting at the local theater ( Dome Theater ) and see what they have to say. The affected area ( map ) they show does not include our place but close. According to FEMA, our house is not in the 1000 year flood, Train Cave is. As to the whole idea, there have been claims for *years* this dam is going to fail. County Engineers have checked/shored/fixed over the years; we think. On top of that, the lake behind the dam is pretty small in spring; probably 400ft by 450ft, maybe 20ft deep - have no idea of how much water is behind it with all the rain we have gotten right now -or- even if they are reducing the pressure by letting some water out or not. .gov; don't ya just love it? Don't really want a new building, but if needed, so be it.

That sucks, especially all the conflicting (outdated?) info.

Umm...
How long would it take to pack up your trains, just in case? 😟

Good afternoon. It's mostly sunny and 76.

I received the engine that was on the grand tour of my area. Imagine my surprise when the "DCC equipped" engine has no decoder. I purchased it as-is, with no returns, because the front headlight didn't work. It can go back through Ebay's policy, as "not as described". I sent a message to the seller, with the three best options as I see them from here. A discount off the purchase price, send me a used decoder (they're a large Ebay seller, so they may well have one), or just have me return it. If they don't want to work this out, I'll file a "not as described" claim and make them take it back. I don't think it will come to that, but we'll see.

Afternoon all,

Found a vanity we kind of like, but the vanity top we wanted to pair up with it has been discontinued, figures.

I really hate it when to save a few cents they change the size of things. As I was typing the fact that it would cost a fortune to make a new vanity top, I occurred to me we might reach out to the places that sell stone and find a large enough leftover piece that they'd sell cheap enough.

The size changes forced me to have to remodel the kitchen in our first house. The drop in oven main on\off temp switch failed and was more than I could but a new oven for, because the depth changed, we'd have replace the countertop and make a couple of minor cabinet cut to get a stand alone slide in. Well. the countertop turned out to be site built on the cabinets, requiring a backsplash change as well. (good thing as it was 4"x4" tile in a color we both thought of as babys*** yellow. Any yellow it turned brown, any brown it turned yellow. So we might as well change the cabinets as the dishwasher was in a cutup 30" base already, and if we do that, might as well get a new floor....So my father in law and I redid the whole thing. A year later we had the flood and redid it a second time.

Todd - Stay safe my friend. Would a lake that small even have a means of relief?

Well, you had one good transaction this month before that one.

it has arrived!

I've got it dialed in for my daily listen music setup. I'll mess with the movie side later.

Yes, I put the grill back on so the cat wouldn't be tempted to sink claws into the shiny thumping thing.

If I do, the wife will provide a proctological insertion of said woofer. And I need to keep what's left of my hearing. Nothing louder than 60 db while she's home. Nothing louder than 80db when she's not.

But I did run some Genesis and the Who to get it warmed up at about 65db while she was frosting cookies.

And the obligatory baking photos to show how awesome my wife is:

In the 2nd photo, the cat on the left is supposed to be "Green + Yellow" food coloring.

The tree on the right is just "Green" food coloring in the icing.

This is the food coloring I purchased in 2020 during the big lockdown. When everything was in short supply. All they had was the "organic" food coloring. We have three of the four bottles left. Wife is sure we ran out of the blue last year.

Either we put the wrong cap on the blue bottle, or it was never very green in the green bottle. But we only use it once a year.

The cookies are yummy no matter what color the cap says.

Try this. It may work to deter the cat as well.
