Just seen the new Scale Trains video and It's not good news for me. The plan on doing the CSX heritage units late 2024. A new 4 axle engine and they are cutting back on ordering extra units from what the pre orders would be. Need some white gold to fall from the sky so I can start a nestegg.

Well since it's been raining we've been doing cleanup in the shop and getting some summer equipment serviced. In Between I've been polishing up the truck. I got the fuel tank, steps, battery box, and the hydraulic control box looking pretty shiny.View attachment 178756View attachment 178757View attachment 178758
Looks great

In my Catholic religion, and many other Christian religions, Epiphany (Jan 6) is the day that the Magi, or the Three Kings, showed up and presented gifts to Jesus.
Pretty much the entire Christian Communion celebrates the Epiphany to commemorate the visitation of the Magi.
Exception being those Orthodox Churches that celebrate Christmas on January 7, which of course sets back the celebration of the Epiphany.

I watched it as well. Looks like the long-awaited steamer from MTH will be announced soon too, I was hoping for a mention on some more modern reefers, but I guess I continue to wait for Cryo-trans!

What do you suppose the 4-axle locomotive will be?
I stopped guessing years ago about what model trains will appear next. What I would like is a Scale Trains Rivet Counter GP40-2l and/or W in CN colors. I would sell off my Genesis and Atlas ones in a heart beat.

Normally I don’t pre-order but I absolutely did on the ST reefers supposedly coming in January 2024.

So after tonight’s email and then the video I pre-ordered way to many of the reefer containers due the Summer of 2024. The non sound units. I trust ST to deliver on their promises and they have been pretty good.

Nothing like people that move near an airport or a military air base and then complain about the noise.
My son lives outside of Jacksonville, NC, which of course is the home to Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River, so the Sound of Freedom is very pronounced. Some of his Northern transplant new neighbors, actually think that because they moved there, the Military should leave, or at least stop training...There are a'holes everywhere!

I loved their GP-30, regret not ordering two. I've had it with pre-orders though, announcement to actual delivery is much too long and unpredictable.

Good evening.

Spent some time working on an overhead traveling crane for my steel mill. Small parts and reluctant fingers make for a slow build.

Currently partly cloudy and 33°, after a daytime high of 56°. It's only going to around 45° tomorrow.

Islanders beat the Caps, Florida beat the Rangers, and the Devils beat the Senators. Columbus beat the Maple leafs in OT.

Good morning!
Interurban wreck in Tipton IN. This was in the early 1930s and my grandmother and some of her children (my aunts and uncles) were in the car.

If it was me I would do a GP38 or GP40. Chessie would be one road that would sell a lot and they could also do the CSX rebuilt -3's in the square cab.

Good morning all. A very cold, rainy day.

Yesterday I spent some time in the train room. I want to get the street scene finished. It is harder to do than I thought.

Some work done on the road . The 'fiddly bits' still to do.

The 'Boars Head Inn' is in place. Around the area to do.

Then I have to tackle the area at the rear of the buildings.

We have an Airport in Madison that started out as a City owned airport but in WWII it became a military air base. Dane County Regional Airport aka Truax Field. It still houses an Air Wing of the 115th fighter wing of the a Wisconsin National Guard. It is one of 14 bases that PROTECT air space of the Eastern USA.

A few years ago the Defense Department wanted to upgrade the locally based Fighter units from F16’s to F35. After years of hearings and listening to the do gooders, they upgraded. Most of the protesters are outsiders, some of the protesters do live in the landing paths of housing that took over the farm fields that surrounded the airport for years. They knew about the airport.

I revel in the sights and sounds of Freedom as they are a majestic sight when they fly over our property about 12 miles southwest of the airport. We are not on a normal flight path but occasionally the commercial and private jets fly over on a path to the airport. To me those intrusions are more annoying than the Flights of Freedom. The only private jets that don’t bother me is the son will sometimes fly over when landing here ( a closer smaller airport to our west) to visit and he tells me when in the Summer time and he wiggles his wings as he flies over, that to me is so cool…

That is why I only pre-order from Scale Trains. They don’t over hype deliveries or over promise. They also don’t take payments or deposits on pre-orders.

If you really want the GP30 check out Hiawatha Hobbies or Lombard Hobby online as both keep excellent amounts of stock and the inventory numbers I have found to be extremely accurate.

If they don't deliver on time, they keep your $1000?
There are no prepayments on Scale Train orders. The promise is once the inventory arrives your pre-order will be guaranteed to be filled.

From what I understand in early 2023 one of the Manufacturers filled brick and mortar shop orders first and then DID NOT have enough to fill modelers orders who pre-ordered direct. It was a too bad so sad situation, you’re screwed and we don’t care thing. The $1000 promise was ST’s way of saying we do care.

Besides if you order over $100 direct from ST shipping is free whereas most of the online places I buy from, free shipping takes a minimum of $299

AIRPORTS.

When I lived in Leeds, the airline serving our local airport announced they were to use VC10 aircraft. There was 'such a commotion' amongst the residents nearby. The noise from the aircraft was their biggest concern. Complaints went on for nearly two weeks. It stopped when the local freight airline company announced they were using VC10s as freight aircraft and had been doing so for four months.

Apparently the VC10s although larger, were much quieter than the other aircraft at the airport. The complaints ended there and then.
