Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 46, back into the mid to upper 60's for the rest of the week. Still have rain in the forecast for four days starting tomorrow, the heaviest predicted for Saturday which will preclude using any outdoor space at my daughter's for the family Christmas gathering.
Spent several hours yesterday doing mundane tasks in preparation for Christmas, and assisting my wife with present wrapping. I'm not too sure that any of my grandkids have enough room at their homes for all that we will bring. At my daughter #2's previous house, she had a gigantic walk-in closet where she kept the grandson's toys when they were younger; and rotated them out every few months. They probably have enough Legos to fill a 12' x 12' room.
I stayed out of the way of the baking and candy making.
Wow! We went to town last night for dinner at our favorite Italian place and noticed that gasoline prices jumped 50¢ a gallon from last Thursday! Went from $2.29/gal to $2.79/gal in just a week. I assume price gouging is happening somewhere in the supply chain, as the price of a barrel of oil has not gone up that much, about 2%, despite the commotion in the Red Sea. What happened to energy independence??? Don't worry, I really know the answer.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I kinda cleaned up the workbench a bit; I also ran a few more trains. I posted a few tombstones yesterday, here are all of the metal castings of tombstones and fence pillars after I dull-coated them.
That's a piece of black lint on the one towards the middle.
Here is also the full Beverly Hillbillies scene in front of the bank. Miss Hathaway is lurking behind Mr. Drysdale.
Cousin Pearl (Jethro's mom), just doesn't want to climb down from her perch, content with just observing the "big city" life.
Sherrel - Get well soon. You have endured worse health adventures in the past.
Mike - Thanks for the comment. That bank is right up on the edge of the upper level at eye height for all visitors to see almost as soon as they enter the train shed. I am still on the lookout for any other small detail items that I might add to the truck besides that mailbox.
Curt - Thanks for the update on
Phil. We used to communicate regularly, but I think that he gave up on computers and E-Mail.
James - While I knew that Frank Sinatra was a model railroad enthusiast, I didn't know of some of the other celebrities mentioned in the article. Thanks for posting.
Karl - Hopefully the only surgery that Sharon will need is Lithotripsy, the bombardment of the stone with ultrasound waves. It is the least intrusive and safest method of removal. They can use lasers, but that requires an incision to be made.
Rock & Roll birthday today, Peter Criss, the drummer for KISS is 78. I was never a big fan but they did sell a lot of records and made a bunch of money touring.
Everyone have a great day.
