Good morning everyone.

Got to be scarce today. Wife is in the kitchen baking Christmas cookies. If I hang around too long I will get drafted for dish washing duty.

Great day to hide in the basement and solder feeder wires. Lord knows there’s enough of them to do.

Have a safe day everyone!

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 48°, probably headed up to 62° later today. Mostly seasonal weather coming up for the next week or so, dipping to near freezing at night and upper 50's/low 60's for the daytime highs. The 79° that we saw yesterday is probably the last time to see that until late February.

Much of my morning was spent gathering leaves, and shredding them with the mower. I actually haven't made much of a dent in the supply, 2 acres is a lot of ground to cover but the trees are trying.

Disaster of sorts struck yesterday, my tiller wouldn't start. It started about a month ago when I tested it and checked the oil. I used fresh gasoline and the crankcase is full, but no start. It turns over but it is also making some sort of strange noise, almost like a metal on metal sound. This isn't good. Next door neighbor, Bubba, is coming down today to take a look. He overhauled it last spring for me and it worked well then.

I didn't make it out to the train shed yesterday, since my visit to "Bubba's Clubhouse" coincided with the Friday afternoon gathering of friends and neighbors. A lot of adult beverages were flowing and since I walked up there, I didn't have to deal with driving the quarter mile home. Not that there would be any patrolmen on the way. Besides, my wife was cooking supper last night so there was no hurry.
One neighbor was not there, the one that lives between me and Bubba, as he violated Bubba's restraining order the night before and had an intense visit from three sheriff's deputies. This is our crazy neighbor who has spent 7.5 of the last 9 years in the penitentiary for shooting 44 rounds into a different neighbor's RV (a policeman no less) back in 2013. He had incorrectly assumed that the RV was full of cameras and listening devices all aimed at him.

So no progress pictures on any current projects. Let's see what I can find in the archives. This is a couple of Dash9-44CW's from ScaleTrains that I received earlier, making their maiden voyage around the upper level.

David - Just don't read my first paragraph, because it isn't that often that it gets below 40°F here. Maybe 40 days a year!;) Enough to remind me that I don't favor colder weather. I generally tolerate it if there is no wind though.

And a final note to Mike, today is Grace Hopper's 117th birthday. For those who are not familiar, Mike quotes her in his signature line.

Everybody have a great Saturday and a wonderful weekend.

A slow morning here today. I guess that everyone is out doing their Christmas shopping? ,, or their brains are still rattling from Louis's music selection? LOL, never was my cup of tea - apologies - don't mean to offend anyone.

I won't mention the temperatures to appease DAVID, but they are the same here today as yesterday with just a couple added on. I have always envied England the British Isles, and how beautiful and green everything is. Mind you that most of my travels were South and West of London and Ireland thrown in. I regret that I did not partake in train travel there - although I did in Spain, France, Germany, and Italy, and Switzerland, and, and, and!

I'm just rambling about -- The Spousal Unit is REALLY under the weather - worst cough that I have ever heard! The breakfast table in the kitchen looks like we have opened a pharmachy!

MIKE - careful and not burn yourself more that a dozen times on the feeders?

Morning folks,

A couple of inches of new solid state white stuff and 15 degrees. But clear blue sky so things should warm up nicely in the house (a lot of south facing glass). Yesterday's truck inventory: 32 pairs Kadee 501's, 12 pairs 511's, 6 pair of 500's and a couple dozen miscellaneous trucks from other manufactures, including Central Valley and MEW. I suppose all this stuff is now obsolete. sigh-----an obsolete sigh-----

Good morning, all! A nice morning with the sun popping in and out. The temp contains the number 2 and 7, not necessarily in that order. I'm trying David. The eye exam went well, with no changes from last exam. I was told I have "dry eyes" and given some drops. Like Willie, I didn't get to train room yesterday. I would like to commend Hobbylinc for their handling of a mis-order. They were courteous, understanding of the error and fixed it without a lot of hassle.
While I know this has nothing to do with trains, nor Christmas music, I watched this video and thought I should share. The guy is a pretty good story teller.

SAFE SLEDDING
LATER

That depends on what era you are modeling. All of those would fit the late steam era.
The plan was a late 40's early 50's logging themed layout situated near here. It would have had an interchange with the NP in Bozeman and with the Milwaukee Road plus the White Sulphur Springs and Yellowstone Park lines in Ringling. The route would have been over Bangtail Divide for some mountainous railroading and a number of logging spurs in that vicinity.

Good evening all. Everyone has gone home leaving the house silent and peaceful. It was good to see everyone.
Another wet and miserable day. I am missing the hot weather. The temperature is a 7 and 2 F. (Not in that order.)

Wrote another story in my storytime thread for those interested.

Afternoon All,

I'm feeling much better today and didn't need a nap. Currently 80F but it's supposed to cool off again in a couple of days. Today in the train room was spent putting together chain hoist parts. All very small parts requiring locking tweezers and magnifier visor. I made it about 3/4 of the way through the assembly (2 sets) before I had enough. MOH and daughter postponed baking until tomorrow.

Alan- It sounds like a major pain in the butt.

Migalyto- That was quick.

Bill- Nice historical shot.

Willie- Nice motive power. I know of Grace Hopper; I just don't understand her work.

TomO- It's great that GD has people that care about her outside of family.

Grizzled- Beautiful photos.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Afternoon all,

Been busy for me so far today...Finalized the leveling of the Master bedroom walls and then moved almost everything out and have the first coat of paint on the master bedroom. I can start the 2nd and final coat in about an hour. Pulled the battery out of the riding mower and connected it to the battery charger so it will be topped off before for storage. Hauled the old washing machine to the county landfill. found out they take old appliances for free (they recycle the metal). They would charge for a cooling appliance that still had freon or it's equivalent.

Then I took 40 minutes to get 2 cheeseburger for lunch at the local dairy queen. I ordered them to go and it took 40 minutes to get them. Started out in the drive thru but after 10 minutes behind a car, abandoned the drive thru and went inside. 3 cars in the parking lot, and only 4 employees with the one at the register a newbie. 1 kid cooking and the manager and another running the drive thru with the manager having to keep coming over to fix the order of family ahead of me. Then a school bus came in...Been a while since I'd been in and will be a while before I go back.

Not much else going on yet.

Good afternoon gang!

lucky/unlucky day

Son #3 came down today to help me move a good cord to a cord and a half of wood from behind the shed to the back of the house. Loaded it up into my little 10 ft landscaping trailer, hooked up the Colorado and moved it up to the back of the house. Just as I was reaching the final position by the back basement steps we heard a pop and the trailer now lists to starboard. It is a 1990 trailer with what I believe are the original tires so I'm not surprised, but hey, If I was gonna blow a tire I couldn't have planned it any better! The trailer should be empty by spring, and I'll put new tires on it then!

All in all it was a nice day outside, tomorrow and Monday the sky gods will try to drown us. I'm not gonna melt, I'm not skeeered!

Welp! That's 3 minutes and 50 seconds that I won't get back!
I will be sure to warn you next time. You think you might have learned by now! ;)

or their brains are still rattling from Louis's music selection? LOL, never was my cup of tea - apologies - don't mean to offend anyone.
No offense taken old buddy. 😁

I hope all is well.
