Good afternoon all. A morning without rain. Now it has returned.
Thanks Willie, but I do not wish to know any temperature above 40F.

Anyone requiring information from me about DCC, the answer is stick to DC.🤣

---------------------------------------------------------

It has been a busy day and more work still to be done.
It is the Annual Visit of friends who live far away and gather at our house tomorrow. Afternoon tea to prepare. Presents to exchange.
One person missing will be 'Baby Sister'. I have mentioned previously, she is not my actual sister. I have known her since she was a toddler and was always at our house. That was until she married. She calls me 'Her Big Brother' and says she is 'Baby Sister'. Therefore she is 'Baby Sister'. So much so, she was a bridesmaid at our wedding.

Good morning, all! Awoke to a very cloudy day with a look of rain. The temp, DAVID, DON"T READ ANY FURTHER, was 75. Forecast close to 80 tomorrow before a cold front pushes down.
Just returned from a curbside pick-up. An eye appointment in about an hour and a half.
Trains - I finished the switching session I had started last week. I may start another today as long as they don't dilate my eyes.
Christmas music

Afternoon All,

Just got up from a nap. I feel better except for the general fatigue I have. Nothing else to report today.

Joe- Nothing on the national news last night either. SMH.

Willie- Thanks for the Moody Blues version. I did like it. Nice job on the wall.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Hughie. I cannot say whether I like what you have put, because you told me not to read any further.

Afternoon all. Winding down the last few hours in the office and playing a little hooky. Further adventures in passenger cars: The heavyweight diner is close to completion. The brass trucks it came with were shorting all over hell's creation so I decided to fit some Branchlines I robbed out of a kit. Last night when testing the sleepers at the club I had the loose trucks with me for the best short testing there is: Live track and low lighting. That makes the sparks show themselves. What I found out (more "second hand model blues") was that the coil springs were gone from one of the trucks and it was flopping everywhere, not riding properly and it was out of tram to boot. The truck on the right has the factory springs. The one on the left has had NWSL "Light" driver springs installed. Then the exciting part: bending the truck back into tram. Note that these are soldered together, not screwed. Break one and that's that! You'll never get it right because you don't have the assembly jig. You have to paint them fully assembled. I'm not sure why manufacturers do this. Spring trucks are a pain. There's not enough weight to make them work properly, and the factory springs are too stiff even if there was. Anyway, I'll paint them up, and install them and see how they work. With a little luck the problem will be solved. That would be nice, because fitting the Branchline trucks to the PSC Chassis is going to be a pain if I have to do it. Cross your fingers!

Welp howdy there internet people, and those with dry socks.

It's Troy again.

Looking ahead, I'm debating on my DCC upgrades

Local guys are all the other brand (Digitrax), and I've got a Powercab from NCE

And Larry Pucket just showcased a system from DCCconcepts-Aegis on his channel. It ties in with a PowerCab, converts it to wireless, and adds 5 amp of power.

Here's the system:

Here's Larry's vid on it:

Pros: I know I'm going to add a 5 watt or bigger booster.
Cons: I don't know what I don't know... so I'm not sure what else to consider.

Thoughts?
Larry is an EE by profession, isn't he? His articles are frequently over my head. My first question is do you really need 5 watt + booster. (I think he meant 5 amps?). I am currently running a multi-cab (2), MRC Prodigy Advance² on a Prodigy Express base unit generating 1.8 amps, with no issues. It's an HO basement sized around the wall switching layout, with a minimum of 5 locomotives powered at once. I am going to upgrade to 3.5 amps using a MRC booster to power the layout, The express controller will remain for program track and to power the controllers.
If you are going to have dcc effects, such as a signal system, you may need more but otherwise something in the range of 3.5 amps should work well for you. I have heard pros and cons about both Digitrax and NCE, my preference would be NCE.

Watts? Amps?

How about Whamps? I figure they're about the same. One might kill me, but I'll sparkle like a 2000s vampire when I go. ;)

Good morning from a very wet So. Central Wisconsin. The property weather stations rarely report the same conditions. But all report since midnight .52“ of rain and right now 41f/5.5c degrees and calm. I not sure about the winds though, there are trees in the front that are definitively swaying!

The granddaughter is here and spent the night as she will again tonight. After last night’s Badger women’s hockey loss on TV we hit the pool for about an hour. Thought that would tire her out as it did me. For her it was like plugging in new batteries! Finally about 11:15 she was sleeping. We won’t be able to watch hockey on TV tonight as they try to start a new win streak in Minneapolis. We will be on campus with 7500 other Badger Volleyball crazies cheering them hopefully on to the Final 4 next week in Tampa.

The granddaughter will be home but with one of her favorite people of all time. Her neighbors are wonderful people and Harper has been treated like family since birth. The neighbors all learned how difficult it is to have a kid in the family with Down Syndrome but also how neighbors are affected. One of the “twins” (our former life guards) is home from college and will watch the Gd/d while we r at volleyball. She and her twin sister spent hours with Harp since birth watching over her, playing with her, reading to her, teaching her to swim and then Harp “told” them how to ride horses. It’s a great sight and they are just 2 of the 5 neighbor girls who took our granddaughter on like a little sister and they were 4-5 or 6 years old when she was born.

Some weathering bench time for me, a swim with the g/d this morning and I was just told we need donuts for breakfast. We are off to the donut seller…

Enjoy the day
