Our now 10 year old grandson is starting to break my heart. Thinks he can do the little back talking and get away with his smart alecky comments. Let him have it yesterday when he said he doesn’t “need or want” to come over to our house. I know I’ll get over it but I let him know my thoughts yesterday. Thought his mom was about to have a heart attack…
Tom, you are not alone. With me it is my youngest Daughter. Now that she is married, she and her 30-year-old husband think they know it all. I tried to tell her, "Thinking you know everything is one of the stupidest things you can do" Now I'm the bad guy for telling her that and other truths.
My wife tells me I am too blunt. I am, but you think my kids would know me by now. I never lie and I refuse to "paint rosy pictures." It's not my fault the truth hurts. It is what it is, accept it, adept and move on.

My wife was in a jury pool for a murder trail recently. One of the attorneys asked the prospective jurors, "Raise your hand if you or anyone in your immediate family has been convicted of a violent crime." Mind you, this is Baltimore City. More than half of the pool raised their hand. It's no wonder my wife gets a summons to serve every year.

I'm permanently exempt from jury duty. That only took three letters from my doctor to accomplish.

I'm right there with you! My daughter is 2 months from 13 and can't believe the things she sometimes says to us. I'm a little more tolerant, but her mother lets her have it good!

I would if never fathomed speaking that way to my parents ever!

Of course, times were different 40 years ago.

Back from seeing mom... more on that in a bit.

Way back when ... boy, did I ever used to talk back. Mom got the belt one day. I took it away from her. Grandfather threatened to complete the whooping if Mom ever called him.

I learned a little, as did Mom. There comes a point where you don't threaten a teen boy. Instead, you call in those who still can. Of course, with all men, Mom always wanted her mind read, do it exactly as she would have... I didn't have to wonder why Dad left her. That wasn't a good fit for marriage...

But now she needs me, and puts up with my lip. ;)

We did an early holiday visit, since the wife is working short shifts this week to use up some vacation time. Took Mom several Costco boxes of depends, and quarters so she can feed the laundry machines, got her a new cell phone, more eye vitamins and hearing aid batteries. Before taking her to lunch, we were already a couple hundred $$.

I didn't remind her about the belt incident. She's finally figuring out that her body is sending all the warning signals that it's winding down her time. She's redoing her DNR paperwork that the retirement village requires her to have in her apartment for if the paramedics get called. She's moving from DON'T resuscitate, to "ask the family"

I figure she's in through the holidays, and hopefully a good chunk of next year. She's got a great-grandbaby on the way. (My niece is preggers, not my daughter). She'll want to hang around to get some baby time in.

That's enough of that talk for now.

I'm about to go pour a glass of whiskey and start working on the MRR magazines that are piling up again. Just got a new N-scale mag today.

Good morning! ;)

It is the day that will live on forever, unless the media start ignoring it. Pearl Harbor, if you ever get the chance to visit, the Arizona Memorial was to me much much more moving than the 9/11 Memorial. Both should move you but PH was hard hitting

Volleyball on Campus as the round of 16 begins tonight. We hope to be in Tampa next week for the NCAA Final 4.

Some bench time today, hopefully a trip to the post office and some swim time this morning.

Dinner last night was fun and no political talk as in the invitations it was banned. These are people Terry has known for over 35 years and all were muckilty mucks in Wisconsin education. Some have not aged well in the 2 years since we last saw some of them. Even the governor is starting to age but with his job it’s understandable.

I am nearing the end on a few personal weathering projects but doing them between commissions can really drag things along. Some final rust streaking and clear coat to finish off these 3. The high cube on its side is a re-do. Adding Tamiya over Vallejo just doesn’t work!

Enjoy the day

Likewise when we were in Dunkirk.

The noise of heavy traffic on the main road. Turned and entered the cemetery.
The silence.
Peaceful silence.
Row on row of graves.
18 year olds, 24 year olds. Young men, men older.
British, Canadians, an Israeli. Others.
Some unnamed, but resting next to a comrade.

Never forgotten.

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 46°, on this Pearl Harbor remembrance day. Happy Hanukah to all of our Jewish members as well. Still looking at highs in the 70's today and tomorrow. Cool front Saturday will bring more seasonal weather to the area.

As usual, today is the weekly grocery trek. Not sure if there are any other stops on the trip yet. Later on, more yardwork since he weather is so nice.

I didn't spend a lot of time out in the train shed yesterday, as seasonal tasks needed to be done. I did do some trimming and primed the Beverly Hillbillies truck.

I also primed the figures and painted blue jeans on Ellie May and Jethro.

Additionally, I did some painting on one of the stone columns for the cemetery, but I don't like what I did so I am going to redo it. I only did one of them to see what it looked like, so I didn't waste a lot of time.

Mike - I am looking forward to the Beverly Hillbillies project. It is going to partly disrupt my cemetery project though. OK, since I usually have two projects going on at once. Both will require some patience and exacting work, which keeps my interest at a high level. Thanks again for the tip.
Karl - Thanks for the picture, now I don't have to search. My only disappointment with the kit is that the horn is not included, as that is a key component of the truck. I may be able to fashion one with an old broken diesel horn and some wire. Just another challenge.
Hughie - After the bubbling crude. I've already picked out a "front & center" spot for it in front of a bank.
Louis - That's amusing but sad regarding your wife's jury duty experience.

Everybody have a great day

Good morning gang!

32° and gray outside, with an expected high of 44° later.

Willie, your welcome!

December 7th. When I was young, it led the new broadcast every year. Now as each year passes it is mentioned later and later in the news at night, if at all. So sad that the news media yaps about the latest celebrity news before paying tribute to the fallen.
