Good morning to the snow travelers, beach lovers and everyone in between. We need 2 more snowfalls (today’s 1” is only snowfall#3) before our Wisconsin drivers remember speed limits on snow covered roads are to be ignored. We had on the trip from dinner to home last night 3 fender benders and one fairly serious one from what we could tell. Our snow falls have been coming down while the temperatures are between 26 and 34f degrees that makes for a nice glaze under the snow and the roads more hazardous. Not fun!

Today is the final day (till Thursday) of 4 in a row to a sports event on the University of Wisconsin campus. Women’s hockey with #2 ranked Wisconsin taking on again #6 Minnesota Duluth at 3pm. Yesterday the Badgers won 3-0.

I spent a couple hours yesterday at the work bench and will again before the game today. Good intentions last night after dinner to appear at the bench but the drive home was too stressful and I vegged out reading a book online instead.

enjoy the day

Today was the last go round for the fall leaves. A nice day, temps in the upper 50s. I cant tell you how many times I went up and down that damn ladder but now the rain gutters are leaf free!,
Karl I did the same thing two days ago. I vacuumed most of them up along with the roof shingles grit that builds up over time. I installed ice melting wires years ago to prevent the gutters from freezing up. One of the best things I've done. I plug them in went it snows.

Good Morning All. Clear and 33° on the SFW estate. Expecting nothing but sunshine and 71° later today. May just have to get the shorts back out. Of course, around here the NWS weather geeks cannot be trusted at all. Yesterday's rain is a good example; it was not in the forecast even after it started! Total in my rain gauge was 0.1", at least it was measurable.

Presumably outdoor tasks will resume today, I enjoy doing most of them. And the weather should be extra nice for December.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I did paint those three mailboxes that I assembled Friday.
IMG_1018.JPG

Then I looked at a long time blank area that has existed on the layout almost since the beginning. It is nestled between a horse farm and the cold storage facility and behind a grain elevator.
IMG_1027.JPG

It has always been my intention to put a cemetery back there. So I dug out the kit that I bought many years ago, even before I started this layout. It's a Woodland Scenics kit called Maple Leaf Cemetery, made in 1996, although I didn't purchase it until the early 2000's.
IMG_1019.JPG

It is comprised of a little of everything, ground foam, foliage mats, metal tree armatures, a wood structure and 45 white metal castings.

IMG_1020.JPG

There's a full scale template that I am only going to roughly follow because my space is a bit larger and more irregularly shaped.
IMG_1026.JPG

The first step for me, is to clean up the flash and mold lines on all of the castings, some examples pictured below.
IMG_1022.JPG

This could take a few days. Note also that the wood structure is not laser-cut, so I need to be extra careful when cutting it out.

Todd - Pretty picture of your yard and the snow. So glad it's at your place and not mine! I dislike snow except in pictures.
Troy - What's worse than losing something in the train shed, is finding it and then putting it somewhere else that I will remember...and not!:(
That's some interesting artwork.
Mikey - Nothing wrong with being 78 years old and watching, that neighbor just uses that as an excuse. While digging the hole to the pipe may be beyond his will, he is certainly capable of doing it, although slowly.
Chris - Your driving adventure is similar to what happens here when we get snow. Texas drivers below the 34th latitude just have no clue how to drive in the snow. That's just south of the Oklahoma state line.
Tom O - See comment to Chris.

Today besides as Louis reminded us is the first Sunday of Advent, it is also the birthday of the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne, who is 75 today. The real surprise is that he is still with us to celebrate.

Everyone have a great day, and best wishes to Sherrel on his health.

Good afternoon all. More heavy snowfall this morning.
Collected granddaughter from Brownie Camp. At the collecting point for the children a 'dickhead' who arrived late, was in a hurry. With children and parents all around, a sensible speed of 5mph was enough. Not for dickhead. More like 20mph. Fortunately there was no accident. A large number of parents gave him a right mouthful.

Sorting out Christmas food shopping. Getting food and drink in before stores say they have sold out.

Morning all,

34° and partly cloudy. 2 fatal crossing the centerline accidents in 36 hours here yesterday and Friday and they can't blame the weather on either.

Supposed to get to 50° later and to the mid 60's by later in the week. Not much going on yet. Did a bunch of stuff yesterday afternoon, including getting the Covid vax for the wife and I and the rsv vax for her. She's feeling both today, but per usual, I'm just a little sore at the injection site, and only if you hit me.

A Christmas song...Enjoy!

Morning folks,

25 and cloudy. Typical December day here except for the still bare ground. I ordered some appliance feet from Amazon yesterday for the drill press and also received my package from Wholesale Tool with a bunch of HS 1/4" lathe bits for the Unimat. My tool post on the ENCO machine is set up for 1/2" bits but for fine work, I just space the 1/4" bits up with a second bit.

I'm about to have a glass of bourbon.
TROY -- From looking at those canvases, You might need to have more than one?
I know that I am!

Best part, I ran it a dozen times and seems to be no track issues.
MIKE - Your sub-roadbed and benchwork (as my dad would say) is the cat's meow!
That's really some good looking work.

HOLY SMOKES, Batman! Miss a day around here and you are three pages behind!
I am still here - You cannot count me out!
At this time there is nothing wrong - and I did not make it to the medical facility...
I will explain later!

FRANCINE - Please ask MEL to fire up the grill and I believe that a Western Omelet with lots of bacon is in order. Some tater-tots and salsa would be nice too - with a D-DP to drink!

Son in Law is devastated over Georgia's loss yesterday (He's a GRAD)! I watched it and easily determined that Georgia forgot to bring their game with them. Perhaps having an undefeated season had given them a bit of over conference?

Nice day today - 40 degrees with a 71 high and 75 and 80 for the next two?
Not a cloud in the sky with a nice blue showing all over!

I like 'Pusser's British Navy Rum. To buy it here in the U.K. it is expensive. Buy it in Gibraltar the price is less than half U.K. price. I love going to Gib.
The time before last we visited Gibraltar I bought the regular Pusser's rum and a bottle of 'Pusser's Gunpowder Proof'. The regular is a nice, smooth drink. The Gunpowder Proof is 'a glass is enough'. Lovely as it is it is not one to drink a lot in a session.

Anyway, the last time we visited Gib I bought another bottle of the regular, plus a bottle of Pusser's Select Aged 151. The 151 is strong. A lovely drink, but it is much stronger than the Gunpowder.

So if you are good at adding up you would say I have three bottles of rum.

Dawn doesn't drink rum, but she asked "What does it taste like?"
Cutting the story short, the regular rum is nearly empty. The Gunpowder and 151 are too strong for her. (Thank goodness.)

Afternoon All,

I forgot to post yesterday.

I started out today with a walk this morning at 73F and slightly humid. Yesterday we decorated inside including the tree. Then I went above and beyond by decorating the outside. This was accomplished by placing a holiday themed mat outside the front door. I was exhausted after that.😲

Today I did a bunch of chores then I'm going to finish the Netfix series The house of Usher. Daughter got me started on it. My detail parts are now 3 days overdue here. The status is enroute arriving late with no location.

David- For several years MOH and I were Girl Scout leaders (I was an assistant to the boss). We got involved the first year of Daisy Girl Scouts and daughter wanted to be one. I was also a Boy Scout Scoutmaster for several years but had to stand aside when I returned to sea duty. Of course, this was when Boy Scouts was for boys and Girl Scouts was for girls. SMH.

Hughie- Nice layout scene.

Mikey- Very nice.

Willie- Nice details.

Bill- Nice photo.

Troy- That is very cool.

Migalyto- Congrats on your inaugural runs.

Smudge- That sounds like a pretty crappy night.

I hope everyone has a good night.

You didn't post what the actual price is, but here the Pusser's British Navy Rum is $27.99/750ml, or about £22 in your currency. The Pusser's Select Aged 151 is $163.99/750ml, or £129. How does that compare with UK pricing?

Good morning gang!

Damp and cool here today with a high of 55° later once the sun gets fully out. Wife is on a Target/grocery run, while I try to hobble around. All that activity yesterday really stiffened up my back and hips, damn ladder!

Next weekend I plan to move over a cord of wood from the back of the property to the basement entrance. I'll be corralling sons 3&4 for assistance on this one. The "old man" ain't gonna try that himself!

Sherrel, nothing wrong? oh please explain!

Willie. No idea now of U.K. prices, but in 2017 Pusser's British Navy Rum was £23.99. I never knew the other types existed until I visited Gib.
There the Navy Rum is £11.99, Gunpowder Proof £14.99, Select 151 £16.99.
The store there also sold a 'King Charles 3' blend. £15.99. I gave that a miss That was in September this year.

Good morning, all! A beautiful morning, 65 degrees and sunny and a slight breeze. Forecasted to reach 72. NO SNOW anytime soon. It seldom snows this far south, but when it does, your best bet is to stay off the roads because drivers down here absolutely no idea how-to drive-in snow and ice.

Our son and d-i-l were in from Oregon, and we had a great visit. They will be staying in Houston through December so they will be here for Christmas. The grinchess is very happy about that.

Willie - I never put the shorts away.
Chris - At least it wasn't a boring day at work.
Sherrell - Only 3 pages, seems if I miss a day its 6 to 8 pages.

STAY SAFE
LATER

They really never get put "away", it's 68° outside right now. There have been many Christmas days here when the temperature was well above 70°, mostly though it's in the 55°- 65° range, which suits me just fine.
I live in Northern Illinois, and I don't really ever put the shorts away either. I went to the store and ran errands yesterday in shorts and it was in the low 40s. I had a fleece on top.

Drives my cold-blooded wife nuts, but I wasn't the only one yesterday sporting the shorts.

Willie - I never put the shorts away.
I never put mine away either. I'm wearing shorts now. I don't have any reason to go outside.

Anything above 40 and dry is weather for shorts. In Baltimore that can be anytime during the winter.

Twenty to forty degrees is chilly. Zero to twenty is cold! In my book that is.

Although my hands now think anything below fifty is cold.

Sherrel, nothing wrong? oh please explain!
Friday I had posted that during the night during one of my "get-ups" that my urine was a gawd-awfu color that looked the color of dog poop with a definite dark red tent to it.
Scared me greatly even though it had no pain and never did.
i made plans to go to the UC - not knowing that MOH and daughter had taken both sets of wheels.
I called MOH and found that she was at other daughters babysitting because husband had to go to work and daughter would not be home for another hour. OK - I said to self: Self, another hour is not going to make that much difference ... in the meantime I needed to pee again and noticed that rather than black/brownish/redish - it was a very dark yellow.
MOH was delayed somewhat and I figured that I am going to get there maybe 15 min before they close, so I peed again and it was even lighter than before.
I decided to wait till morning and plan to be there as soon as doors were open at 9 AM.
When I woke up yesterday morning -- I was a very, very light yellow and it continued to lighten throughout the day.
Today it is about as clear as it has ever been.

Now, I do not know what transpired, but I would take a guess that I had some sort of a UTI and it "flushed" itself out, but there was no pain such as I had when I had a UTI before.

I detailed everything best I could and sent a message to my primary.
I know his answer, "If it happens again - go to UC or ER if I have not had consultation with the Urologist coming up ahead." (If serious, UC gets a free ride to ER/Hospital, otherwise $100.00 if ambulance is called)
The new Kaiser Hospital is next door and connected to the UC about 15 miles North.
That is all that I know at this time, but sure scared me to see that!
