I enjoy stopping in here a few times a day. But I do sometimes wish more people would look at all new posts, not just what's in here in the coffee shop. This is a social gathering spot, and a good one at that.... Although... sometimes I feel like I have to post in here just to get attention to an issue I have and come here looking for advice. Posting in the other sub-forums sometimes falls on deaf ears...

Not complaining.. just an observation I have had over the past year or so.

Good morning all, nothing new to report; but I wanted to say hello to everyone. I didn't do any building but just ran my trains yesterday, the best part was that my son came down and enjoyed setting up the new shay and log cars. Still debating over an elevated figure 8 waterwings layout or keeping everything flat. I just dont know.....

or this one; I am hesitant to have y section with DCC if I install it, do not want any shorts.....

Would love to hear everyone's thoughts.

Hi Gary,

I would say go with an elevated section, in the long run you may appreciate having some elevation changes. I maybe missed it but not sure how you are going to access what looks like the tunnel area

Personally I find the y would be a challenge. However, I find DCC a challenge as well so take that with a grain of salt.

@BigGRacing

I agree with Dave. Multiple elevations are pleasing to the eye. Although... I ended up having 2 tracks.. one up in the hills and one down at sea level. At least that way I didn't have to worry about long steep inclines, and could keep each track relatively flat, with only 1 planned 1/2" incline over 2 feet.

I really like the Wye leading into the yard on the second example, and it also has a great space for a pier/wharf.

Good afternoon to all! It’s cold out and the knee can feel the cold. I may have a temperature indicator now.

The client for the paper mill build stopped bye and loved the build. He added a couple things we had talked about but the good thing is, he will come pick it up. No delivery needed by me. It’s been fun seeing this thing come to life but I will also be happy when it’s gone. He has another project in mind and I I’ll draw something up in the next few days.

I added a couple heavily weathered cars to the For Sale forum. I am going to reduce the roster a bit more. But, I have cars not part of the roster, purchased for weathering and selling. Those are being sold off first. All my undecorated kits I had did sell last week, I posted 4 of the 20 I had and the guy who purchased asked if I had more. Of course, I did… he took them.

I have 10 Walthers gondolas that are weathered. Not 100% sure why they are slow sellers but they are in the garage, my airbrush is out and I am going to strip them of the weathering and start over. Yes, I needed something to do.

Thanks Dave and Jeff,
I am leaning towards the elevations for sure and I will still have the dock area; was just weary of all the derailments and stuff I hear about with elevating track and transition areas. I have about 10feet roughly to do the grade and it should be good enough. I am not an expert so flexibility does have to be the key in the long run.

Sometimes I miss a post and will find it days later, now I follow Willie's idea of clicking on the new posts icon first, and if it's something I'm interested in or curious about I'll follow the thread, I've picked up lot's of info about problems I haven't experienced, but still information I might one day need, admittedly I still miss the odd post, but I try to keep up to date as best I can.

I also follow Willie and Chris’s lead. Click on the NEW 1st and see what is out there. I don’t have to comment but I know I have read pretty much everything

Good morning/afternoon Track Gang, how are things here at Jeffrey Running Bears' Dinner.

Hi Sexy Francine, I'd like three large brown eggs scrambled, a large patty of ground Italian sausage and fried sweet potato slices, a large scoop of cottage cheese and black coffee. Thank you babe. Tell Mel not to fry my eggs too long.

Weather wise, it's 44"F & 86% Hum-i-dity.

> Has anyone heard anything about Boris ?

flexibility is the rule and not the exception, in my opinion.

Once I see how things look in real life, there are always adaptations. Currently working on a scene that wasn't even in the plans,

I see I am losing some shingles, this building was constructed back in 2013 so a few loose shingles probably to be expected.

This scene is unplanned but I am currently adding details to it while ignoring a bunch of other projects

Not many rules on my layout,

Afternoon All,

Started out on a morning walk (45F). This Sat. and Sun. the low is supposed to be 32F but no ❄️. Did several chores then did some thinking in the train room. I'm going to put in a MVA scene (car vs. tree). I ordered an ambulance last night and police and PM's today for the scene. Fits right into my old life. Tomorrow is library, ACE Hardware, and pool store.

Karl- Great looking ambulance. It inspired me to make the scene discussed above.

Chad- More great adventures. Are you spending Christmas there?

TomO- Great meme's, Glad to hear you're getting around better, also great weathering.

Gary- Elevation depends on what you want in a layout, but I have found it tends to take more space than you would think (incline lengths). A wye is not difficult to wire. Go to a site called DCC for Beginners, https://wiringfordcc.com/intro2dcc.htm, it shows how to do it.

Dave- Nice layout shot.

I hope everyone has a good night.

To Me - and probably only me.... I pretty much always look at the new post's that show up. Well, besides the coffee shop - those I read completely unless it is a dang book, then I skim. The new posts; depending on the originator and how many pix of the same thing; usually get scrolled down to make sure that there is not a 'next page' thingie and it goes away. Later, I will go back in and then scroll all the subjects that I am interested in. I would love if the powers that be would put a 'Mark Thread Read' or sumptin. Don't get me wrong as I love seeing what folks are doing, but to have 4, 8 10 or more pix of the same thing is not something Ima interested in - others may not think that way so I don't complain - well except in this case. Easy to move on, so I do.

8F here and dark.

Later

Good evening. 30° and clear. Survived the procedure. The good news is no significant blockage, and no stents. Bad news is I have a bad valve that will have to be repaired/replaced early in 2023. The procedure itself lasted 1 hour, + 2 hrs prep, and 3hrs recovery, mostly coming down from the joy juice, and insuring the bleeding had stopped. Got there around 0830, left a little after 1700.

The Doctor went in through a vein in my neck, and an artery in my right wrist. I have to keep it immobile for three days. It is currently not bleeding, nor has it started to hurt. The neck is sore, especially when I turn my head. NO bleeding though. Left arm at elbow is tender, where the IV was.

I was fasting from dinner time last night, through the procedure. First thing after I got to recovery, wife and I were offered sandwiches and drinks.

The only negative was Valet parking. Wife had to reclaim the car at 1545, brcause they were closing. The Recovery department is open until 2000.

Thanks for all the prayers and good wishes

Good to hear you are still with us and no stents. I too have a leaky valve, but they are monitoring it for now, as it just showed up on the last rounds of tests. My Dad had one for years, with no repair.
I have a younger cousin who has had one of his valves his replaced, and it hasn't slowed him down. I pray yours does the same.

We got out of an interesting “museum” about an hour and a half ago. Now on a subway to Ikebukuro (part of Tokyo).

this museum is a sensory full body experience exhibit that you have to take your shoes off and walk around in bare feet from room to room. The halls are dark except for neutral colored lights to light the way. There are a few chin-ups with water. You start walking up an incline with water rushing down it and some lights in the sides and at the top a stream of water is falling in a waterfall type thing all lit up. Then there were a few other “mild” rooms like one with 2’ deep bean bag floor you had to try and walk through. All supposed to invoke you senses.

Then you get to the first really “wow” room. It had mirrors everywhere (floor wall ceilings) and rows and rows of hang strands of LED lights. A path was made through them so where the path is the lights stopped above your head.

they flashed the lights different colors and in various patterns. And with the mirrored walls and ceilings it made it look like it went on forever. The effects were very much like you were in a live movie set or maybe like what people describe who have near death experiences. It was wild and cool and very well done. Here is a pic or two. Doesn’t really capture it but it gives a small taste.
Further descriptions of other rooms in a later post. Almost to our destination
