Yes I know those stores too!! Most of them are north of me except for WaWa. My favorite (not so) LHS is just a bit north of the Manson-Nixon line!
That's a cool ambulance. It reminds me more of the Paddy Wagons the Police used, as the ambulances were Caddies. Still a real nice model.

I suppose that Quik Check and Wawa would identify my Central Jersey location. There are still numerous 7-11s and other independents around here also. Always thought Turkey Hill made the best Ice cream.

I'm sweating out an order from Macys, that supposedly "shipped" on 12/16, but shows no movement. Hope it's here on time. Local Macys has minimal inventory of Petite sizes, so this was the only answer, my less than optimal physical condition, and tolerance for shopping.

Ventured out to Shoprite, with the wife this morning. Using the cart as a walking aid/battering ram, we successfully managed to shop, finding no salt and low salt foods. Found Francisco Rinaldi No Salt Added spagetti sauce with very minimal sodium, that actually tasted mighty fine. Sauce and pasta, the perfect dinner, but I do miss the sausage.

Eagles won, Jets lost, and the Gi'nts and the Washington Football team are currently fighting it out to see which one can be the worst. No Hockey games that attract my interest tonight. Guess I'm a tad pre occupied with tomorrow's procedure.

Is anyone following the three part article on Matt Snell's Conrail, New Jersey Division? begins with the November 2022 Model Railroad hobbyist on line magazine, and continues through the January edition. In particular, it deals with the layout keeping up with the times. Having worked in the North Jersey Consolidated terminal from 1986 through 1998, I can attest that even with selective compression and modeler's license, Mr. Snell's layout is an accurate rendition of the NJCT and connecting lines.

Sitting here at the tracks waiting for an 11 min bullet train ride from Shin-Yokohama to Shinigawa, a small station between Yokohama and the terminal station Tokyo. We’re just catching it in the unreserved seating car and standing by the door for the 11 min ride. Fastest way to get where we are going though there are a million other commuter routes we could take.

going to drop our luggage at the Hilton Odaiba before we head out for our day’s adventure. They may let us check in early but if not they usually hold the luggage for you.

So we made it to Shinagawa on the Shinkansen. All 10 min of actual travel. We now need to go one stop on a normal “heavy rail” commuter or regional train. Most all the trains that go through this station stop at Shimbashi (Shinbashi) where we need to get off. We went down to the first track that showed Shimbashi and this one happened to not be leaving for almost 15 minutes. We could have gone to a different track and gotten another train that would leave sooner but we’re not in a hurry and “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush” — we know this one how’s where we want and trying to catch another one would require figuring it out again and rush and fuss for 7 minutes of saved time.

I didn’t get it coming into the station nose first but this is the Shinkansen we rode to Shinagawa. An N700A. Incidentally a variant of this is what was chosen for the Texas Bullet Train project. There is a newer N700S we’ve seen but not ridden.

here is the Joban line train we are on now. An E531 series which is a dual DC/AC voltage variant of the E231 running in the Tokyo lines.

We are at Akihabara. That is the “Electric Town” section that Tokyo is famous for. We’re at a large store called Yodobashi-Akiba. The Akihabara location for Yodobashi Camera chain, a large mega store — think the classic huge NYC camera stores. That’s how this chain started and now they have basically everything from cameras to phone to computers to stereos to toys to model trains to books to appliances to camping to musical instruments. Not every category is at every store but this is one of their flagships and is cheap. They do tax free and sometimes discounts for tourists using certain payment methods. I walked through a huge section of modeling supplies and tools of every sort that you scratch builders would appreciate. The N-scale section is reasonable and somewhat large but the H0 section is small. These are 95% Japanese prototypes and with smaller living spaces N is much more popular.

I’ll get pics next time we come here

Sorry for the incessant travel monologue. Waiting for my kids to finish at whatever place we’re at gives me time to use.

it’s almost 4pm Monday (48F) and we’re walking along a large street in Akihabara filled with large and small shops (mostly electronics) and game station places which are basically arcades, many of which are filled with various incarnations of claw machines.

my son is pretty good at them and won a few things at a claw machine in Yodobashi Camera. Some things his sister wanted and some he wanted. My daughter also was able to snag two things.

we went to McDonald’s (when my BH is not around we sometimes sneak that sort of thing). My son and I each had a Samurai Double Burger with cheese. Had a soy sauce based sauce and onions in addition. I also bought a “beef stew pie” — like the old Apple Pie at McD but with beef stew filling. It was pretty good. The daughter had the samurai burger with bacon which was a single patty with Japanese bacon (more like fried Canadian bacon) and also had lettuce and tomato. Same sauce. I don’t go to McDonald’s in the US. But here I’ll go. It’s far better.

Boris, I can tell you most delivery people are doing their level best to deliver every package. There are still six delivery days until Christmas.

I know you will be disappointed if it does not arrive on time, but Natasha will understand. I bet if you ask her, the best thing is having you with her on Christmas morning and for a long time to come.

Think of your low salt diet, and other sacrifices as the best Christmas gifts you can give her.

Keep the faith, Buddy. God and everyone who knows you is thinking of you
Monday afternoon things will look a lot better!

Try Amazon for low/no salt foods. They have almost everything. I get real Hungarian paprika from Amazon. It's not cheap, but it is imported from Hungary and my wife is happy with it. Best of all it is delivered to your door!
