Good Late Morning.

Swal - Those circumstances would make me retire ASAP. Thank God that you're sill alive.
Todd - Half-assed painted figures is giving them too much credit. My kids gave me several hundred for Christmas a few years ago; I've repainted about a third. I bought some for myself from the same vendor, but they're unpainted, and there are 21 different poses in the package of 100.
Hughie - The Val-U Fuel and Oil building looks really good. I have not ever gotten a Showcase Miniatures structure before. They look to be as good as Bar Mills, although they may all be too old for my era.
Chad - Get well soon. What a horrible way to spend your vacation.

Out of here again. Continue to have a great Sunday.

Looking at my portfolio this morning, I turned to the estimated tax liability page. Right now I'm looking at 1K in Dividends and a tad over 3K in LT Capital Gains, mostly from the first quarter. Unless I dump my worst performing stock to offset the gain, this is my actual performance for 2022, much more successful than 2021. Now, the portfolio itself is down about 10%, but it's not a loss unless I sell, and I have no intention of going there.

back again to catch up a little,

Patrick - too bad I don't have control over the weather, I would have stopped the cold air up at International Falls and we would all be in mild temps

Christian - you are persistent!

Talk of the Netherlands always brings to mind my wooden shoes. These were made by my great grandpa Noreen, I thought he was a sweede possibly they used them there, too

He made these at our old farm in Wyoming MN which is Chisago county Minnesota, Dad said they used these for chores this pair must have been for church; they used wood cause would not rot like leather as it reacted to the manure:

here shows the bottom, they were used for special occasions I believe,

have a great evening all and be back tomorrow

Afternoon All,

Did some chores and ran errands including Wally World...joy:( (it was packed). No train stuff today. After WW all I want to do is sit down.

Terry- Was it HR trains?

Karl- That's tough with #1 son. Sorry to hear it.

Chad- In my experience as a PM and dealing with Mom and Dad is that the nurses and docs in the cardiac units tend to be very good. Great photos. From my 3 or 4 times in Japan I have a high respect for the Japanese work ethic.

Jaz- Very nice modeling.

Dave- It's a fall wonderland (it's not winter yet). White metal kits can be a bear to put together.

moermusic- I'm very sorry to hear about your sister's prognosis. Great photos. My favorite is the moon thru the trees.

Willie- Nice looking progress.

I hope everyone has a good night.

I'm Baaaack! ;)

Made it to Kohl's, Wally World, Home Depot, McD's, the not so local LHS, Safeway, Sheetz(gas), and finally Tractor Supply. I am done Christmas shopping! 🎅🎄

At the not so LHS, I did get 4 switches #4 and #8 right and left, 1 each, some Zap and an Oxford Chevrolet Ambulance.

Now I'm gonna put me feet up and relax!

Sheetz!? From that word alone I have an idea where you are from. I’m in the land of WaWa, Turkey Hill,Sheetz and Rutters!

Yesterday was a half day at work. Spent the afternoon with #1 son. Took him to get a haircut and give him his Christmas gifts. He live with his mother in a subsidized new apartment about 30 minutes away. Both he and his mother are full time disabled and recently had their car repossessed due to her inability to handle her income. Part of the problem is her mental state and her alcoholism. His problem is his manic-depressive condition combined with his obesity (450 lbs +) makes him pretty much unemployable. Worse yet is his refusal to leave his mother. I've offered many times to take him in, get his meds regulated, put him on a healthy diet (he lives on junk food), get him a car and a job. Sons #2 and #3 have offered the same, but he won't take advantage of it. All I can do is remind him he has a family that cares, even if he doesn't.
Karl, I can't begin to imagine how hard that must be for you.

God bless you and your sons.

I admire #2 and #3 for being so caring.

I have to say I admire #1 as well for sticking with his mom, even at his own peril.

You did an excellent job dad. Those boys are the proof.

That would mean "wheel chair accessable"
The middle icon seems to indicate one person caring to the needs of an adult. Heavier capacity of bench. I would think there is more frequent sanitation upkeep for those facilities as general public is pretty uncaring for what they leave behind.

Thanks. I’d never thought of the wheel chair icon meaning “wheel chair accessible” since we always see it on handicap accessible parking spots and other locations and equipment that serve the handicapped, whether confined to a wheel chair or not. Your explanation makes good sense.

though this being Japan I’d not worry about the sanitation and misuse of facilities by the general public. It’s not in their psyche and the outliers are quickly attended to.
